Infernal Affairs is about two men who could have been brothers but found themselves on opposing sides of a Hong Kong police/triad war. A key scene is where they randomly meet in an audio store.

Where is a sales assistant!!

Here he is. This is Yan, looking dishevelled, probably due to the very low wages and thankless job  that is an audiophile store sales assistant.

Lau want to listen to this amplifier.

That was good, but have you tried this cable?

Blown away!! Cables do make a difference!!

Lau ends up buying the amp, an Audio Space MP-1B

The rest of the movie is them trying to kill or outsmart each other. Its a brilliant film and worth watching. One of the few HK cinema pieces that is not cringy and stands up with western films in plot.

It's pretty obvious the director of this film is a real audiophile, not just throwing some amps and speakers on set as props.

WIFE NOT HAPPY. Because she heard the recordings, but probably also because found the receipt for the Audio Space monoblocks.

Probably see more McIntosh gear than anything else in movies, being a US brand, but mostly cos they stand out cinematically with those blue/green lights.

It would be funny if a studio production company owned one stack and it was that same stack you saw again and again in all those films the last 15 years.

Leave The World Behind has McIntosh electronics - didn’t see the speakers…..

We watched this a couple of days ago. As they were looking through the records I said to my wife, "What gear will it be? I'm calling McIntosh".... nailed it! 🙂 I was half expecting a VPI turntable though.

Mc/B&W must have have some good PR companies as they tend to get a lot of product placement in TV/Movies.

McIntosh - probably one of the most "placed" hifi items around.

Very American - when my U.S. colleagues find out I am into sound / hifi, they almost all invariably ask "what do you think of McIntosh  and/or JBL?"

Those Audio Space mono-blocs almost look like someone put a pair of Consonance monos on a diet and made them slimmer.......

She's using a McIntosh MT2 table but the pre-amp is set to TUNER.......picky I know.....

She might be using it as a sort of "mute' function to not hear the stylus drop.

Or she might not even be aware and is "acting".

Evil Dead Rise (2023).  Young dude finds a record and old book in a vault.  He plays the record on  some Technics SL variant and unfortunately summons hell.  Thats what you get using a direct drive deck.
