Ok, I'm a self-confessed Cyrus-Fanboi for probably at least the last 20 years or more. However I am so p!ssed off with them right now. So, I own exclusively Cyrus equipment barring my speakers and have always been really happy with it. Last year I bought a Cyrus X-Stream Signature. It was a demo model from an online store and was immediately happy with the results. I exclusively use my Tidal subscription on it and operate this through the clunky and much maligned Cyrus Cadence app. It's cumbersome and really not smooth at all, but it worked and my system sounded sweet and that was all that was important to me. Then, Sept this year Cyrus removed Tidal support from the app citing security concerns. I contacted their support email address and was told I could still connect my Tidal account, just not through the Cadence app. They said that if I had Qobuz I could run this instead. So I cancelled my Tidal account and bought a Qobuz subscription instead. Problem is, my streamer is an older firmware model and does not support either without a firmware upgrade. I go back to Cyrus and they said my only options are to send the unit at my cost down to Melbourne and then pay $250 for a firmware upgrade (as apparently this is a hardware update) just so I can get my online streamer to online stream!!!! Or, I could use a third party app and connect that way. They recommended MConnect or BubbleUPnP. So being the cheaper (and quicker option) I downloaded both of these and connected up my Qobuz account. The sound quality is absolutely revolting. I am not exaggerating here but it is worse than cassette quality sound and the buffering on the tracks is horrendous! So I am now looking at my options as being this: - Send the unit down to Melbourne for the upgrade (all up cost likely $350). Then hope that Cyrus don't make some other future call about compatibility that stops my online streaming from working. Still won't have an app that I can easily manage my music from, so would have to manually do this on the unit itself (because Cyrus are really well known for having user-friendly displays as it is!!!!) - Cut my losses, sell it and buy another streamer from another manufacturer. I am so furious at Cyrus on this. They make these really expensive pieces of equipment and then place zero energy or focus on the user experience that now renders my $3000 unit completely useless. Their customer service has basically just washed their hands of it and said I can use a third party app to make their product work the way it is supposed to. I've gone from being an absolute Cyrus Fanboi to being a "never again will I buy a piece of Cyrus equipment" boi. Any decent streamer with great user-experience suggestions out there?

Hi All, I've been slowly building my system, mostly through second hand acquisitions over the last 15 years. I've built up from something quite entry level to have the following system: Cyrus CD6 Cyrus X-Stream Sig Cyrus Pre2 DAC 2 x Cyrus SmartPower B&W 604S3 Now the B&W speakers are basically the last components of my entry level system bought 18 years ago and I want to replace them. I'm living in a rental at the moment, so I'm thinking a pair of bookshelves is probably more suitable to my circumstances at the moment. I listen to all sorts of music, not so much classical, but lots of blues, jazz, soul and funk, some rock and very small amount of pop. I do love tight bass. My go to auditioning piece is Talk Talk's I Don't Believe In You, from their Colour of Spring album if that gives any clues as to the type of productions I like to listen to. Anyway, looking for some decent bookshelf suggestions (new or second hand) for my next upgrade. Most of my listening these days is through my Tidal account hence the X-Stream presence, but still use CDs sporadically Thanks for listening.

Hi All, As a long time Cyrus user have been using the DAC integrated in a Model 8xpd integrated amp with external PSXR power supply. In the last year I have migrated to running it as a preamp into a set of X200 mono blocks. Cyrus have this year released an upgrade to the internal DAC that supports DSD512, 32bit 768KHz internal and asynchronous USB bridge. This is based on an ESS Sabre DAC (although I'm not sure of the exact chipset). https://www.cyrusaudio.com/products/qxr-upgrade-card/ So I have one of these on order. Does anyone have any experience with it? Feedback? I know there are plenty of external DAC options but I liked the idea of minimising the number of boxes. Cheers.

Well it's official. The Epos M12 and Cyrus 8vs do not go particularly well together (in my lounge at any rate). Recommendations of amps OR speakers to try to get the combo right would be most appreciated. I just tried a fellow SNA's Quad 12L on the Cyrus and after the initial shock of how much incredible bass there was, I have to say I was impressed. The detail, scale and the sound stage were also very impressive. Anyone wanting further info about that can message me. So, Epos enthusiasts and Cyrus enthusiasts. Which would you keep and which would you change? I look forward to your posts.

I am soon to be indulging myself in some new equipment and one of the options is the Cyrus CDi. One thing that concerns me is that I have read comments from people who criticised Cyrus products reliability and also the assistance from the company when it comes to rectifying problems with their products. I would be interested to hear of any Cyrus owners here experiences ?

Hi. One will have to excuse One's ignorance, but One is new to the concept of a separate Dac! Here's my question. Can I find a Dac (preferably an Arcam) that will sound similar to the Alpha 9, 92 or CD23t CDP that all had the same chip in them? They all had the DCS ring dac in them. I heard buddyev's CDP, an Alpha 9 and it just blew me away, so mellow. I have also looked at a valve CDP option as an alternative, but that has just been sold. My current setup is based around the Arcam CD73, which I love for it's bass, but it can seem a tad shouty sometimes. In other words, I think the slight distortion of the bass end really suits it, but mucks up the treble a little. I compared it to a Cyrus CD6, which had a sound that was so smooth at both extremes, but so boring. It didn't move me the way the Arcam did. I actually love Cyrus CD design, and was thinking if I could get the Arcam sound, but with the Cyrus Architechture, I'd have the best of both worlds...if such a thing is possible? Advice and banter welcomed, and dare I suggest if anyone has an Arcam or similar I can try, perhaps I might buy it from you? Rich I've seen an Arcam CD23 for sale here, but that's not going as I planned...in other words, not to me it would seem.
