  8. For sale are the highly regarded critically acclaimed Q Acoustics Concept 500 floorstanding speakers in black & rosewood finish. Recommended retail price (RRP) for these is $7999. These speakers are brand new and unopened in their original boxes and come with warranty. Warranty is 5 years. The speakers were purchased brand new 17/02/21 and have remained unopened in their boxes in storage since then. Proof of purchase can be supplied. Pickup from Glebe NSW 2037 only. My Impressions: Music played through these speakers is warm, refined and with a real sense of scale and depth. The sound is natural and even. Nothing stands out, these speakers simply get out of the way. The speakers are revealing without sounding analytical or clinical. I heard these speakers first at a dealer's shop paired with McIntosh and liked them so much I bought them on the spot and also bought a pair of Concept 300s. So this is a very regretful sale. However, I am keeping my stand mount Concept 300s. I am selling because I have finally accepted the fact that I don't have enough space in the downsized house. Reviews and Quotes: Rarely do you come across a speaker with such rave 10/10 reviews. This is Q Acoustics top of the range speaker with a no expense spared during research and design. Check out the white paper that outlines the extensive no holds barred approach to the research and development of these speakers. White paper can be found at: https://secure.armourhome.co.uk/usdownloads/concept500/Concept500_white_paper.pdf What Hifi rated them 5/5 and stated "We think these are among the most impressive high-end speakers we’ve heard in recent years." Stereophile states that the "Q Acoustics Concept 500 is special' and "I doubt that, once they've entered your listening room, they'll ever leave." Top New Review gave them the Editors Choice award and rated them a 10/10 mentioning that Q Acoustics Concept 500 are "A quite exceptional speaker that offers remarkable value for money" Stereonet says "Q Acoustics have a star on their hands with its Concept 500 loudspeakers and although not exactly beer budget, they are pretty much worth every penny. " and "Was I impressed? You bet your cotton socks I was.". Trusted Reviews rated them a 5/5 and say "Music doesn’t get much better than this" and "For the money, there are no better floorstanding speakers you can buy. In fact, you’d have to spend thousands more for any improvement – and even then you might only see improvement in certain areas." Home Media Entertainment rates them a 9.6/10 and state that "If are looking for a set of floorstanding speakers in the high-end category then the Q Acoustics Concept 500should be a strong contender as it can give you the qualities you are looking for while keeping the cost at more or less reasonable levels for it’s category. Highly recommended." The Ear states "I don’t often get products that I desperately want to keep hold of but this is one of them, so can anyone who knows the secret of winning the lottery get in touch please, it’s an emergency!" Hifi Choice have the Concept 500 an Editors Choice award and state "it redefines expectations at the price. It’s comparatively unfussy about its environment or the electronics that integrate with it as part of a system and should be top of any shortlist" Avforums gave the Concept 500 Reference Status and state "it didn’t take very long to establish that I was in the presence of a genuinely significant speaker – even if I couldn’t exactly pin down what it was that was eliciting such a response" and "Picking holes this speaker is extremely hard. Having listened to a variety of different designs at similar price points, it is possible to find individual attributes I might prefer from other designs but they struggle to match the crushing all round competence that this speaker has." and "This is also one of the most impressive demonstrations of applied technology I’ve seen in a while. This is a very sophisticated device but the key aim of that sophistication is to be inaudible and in this it succeeds admirably." From the manufacturer: The Concept 500 adopts advanced, innovative technologies to deliver pure audio excellence and a sensational sound stage. Our floorstanding speakers couple low directivity with wide bandwidth, good sensitivity and sensible impedance, which makes them room-friendly and allows amplifiers to deliver their best performance. The Concept 500 pairs point-to-point (P2P™) bracing to deal with low-frequency panel vibrations with Helmholtz Pressure Equalizers (HPE™) to balance out pressure irregularities. Another component that allows for less vibration and coloration is the cabinet construction. Three separate layers are filled with a non-setting gel, which damps the the cabinet walls and converts higher frequency vibrations into heat. Designed to appeal to discerning audiophiles, the Concept 500 achieves a perfect balance between art and science. It is a loudspeaker that is at once, stylish, contemporary, fine-sounding and astonishingly accurate. It couples low directivity with wide bandwidth, good sensitivity and sensible impedance. This makes the new Concept 500 both room-friendly and an easy load to drive, allowing amplifiers to deliver their best performance. To create a stereo soundstage which gives as good an impression of width, depth and height as that found in a live performance requires high quality drive units, a well designed crossover and an accurately constructed cabinet. To achieve this, Q Acoustics formed a truly talented team with many years of experience in the design, engineering and manufacture of world-class loudspeakers. A combination that resulted in a state-of-the-art loudspeaker worthy of any high-end system. 13. Looking for opinions and advice please. Thanks in advance! I have been planning a 5.1.2 HT set up for a while now and the components are coming together. The pending item is the atmos speakers. The HT room is small with a low ceiling and I was advised to have an upfiring atmos speaker. Also it will be very tough to run wires and so an elevated atmos speaker is ruled out. Therefore looking for something that can sit on my floorstanders and do the job. Just want to get a second opinion on this and also some advice on the speakers themselves. Based on my research, even a pair of bookshelves angled up or down should help with the atmos effect but I see a few varieties of atmos speakers that can be used on top of floor standers. I was looking at the Sony ones https://www.sony.com.au/electronics/speakers/ss-cse. These are by far the cheapest I have seen and have good reviews but they have only 1 driver each. Would this be recommended v/s something like this which also comes with a tweeter for the atmos. https://www.spacehifi.com.au/audio/speakers/surround-speakers/monitor-audio-bronze-ams-dolby-atmos-speakers?option=1799 I know that Atmos is a very tricky thing to achieve in the first place. My expectations are low. I will be buying a good 4k blu ray player with Dolby atmos and this would probably be the main source for atmos encoded content. Rest of my set up for reference: Yamaha RX V6A Receiver Front pair: Ascension custom made floorstanders (high end drivers) + centre Rear: Yamaha musiccast 20 * 2

  15. Further information: Hi, I'm selling these as I have another pair of speakers in use. My father bought these new in the early-mid 2000s. 22. Hi I have a problem that I am not sure I can fix. I have in-ceiling speakers that are very difficult to get to. When I had them connected initially, the company that installed them used speaker wire where the negative and positive wires look exactly the same as the outer sheath is the same. I recently purchased a new receiver and when I disconnected it I dropped the cables accidentally and now I do not know which is positive and which is negative. The grills on the speakers do not come off so I cannot see which way the cones are moving. I have watched YouTube videos on it but no one explains if / how you can check phase if you cannot see the speaker end of the connections. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
