Selling the excellent Cyrus 8.2 DAC Integrated amplifier in black. Sound is lively with fantastic detail and soundstage. Rated at 88 watts per channel into 6 Ohm. Current RRP is $3,399.00 AUD. A few caveats hence the low price: The backlighting on the front display does not work. It is readable but not from the other side of the room. I couldn't get the optical digital inputs to work. The coaxial ones work fine as do the analogue inputs. I don't have a remote control. Included in the sale are four BFA speaker connectors, four BPA to banana plug adapters and a power cable. Further information: Hi, Recently upgraded my phono stage and have decided to move this one on. It is an excellent phononstage, well regarded, and has done me well, performing faultlessly. Of particular note is is the adjustable gain which greatly assists with matching with different equipment. Cosmetically the items are in VGC with no noticeable marks or scratches. Included in the sale are the original boxes, so shipping is OK but at your expense. And the original remote control also in VGC. There are an enormous amount of fantastic reviews on the net. Ok, I'm a self-confessed Cyrus-Fanboi for probably at least the last 20 years or more. However I am so p!ssed off with them right now. So, I own exclusively Cyrus equipment barring my speakers and have always been really happy with it. Last year I bought a Cyrus X-Stream Signature. It was a demo model from an online store and was immediately happy with the results. I exclusively use my Tidal subscription on it and operate this through the clunky and much maligned Cyrus Cadence app. It's cumbersome and really not smooth at all, but it worked and my system sounded sweet and that was all that was important to me. Then, Sept this year Cyrus removed Tidal support from the app citing security concerns. I contacted their support email address and was told I could still connect my Tidal account, just not through the Cadence app. They said that if I had Qobuz I could run this instead. So I cancelled my Tidal account and bought a Qobuz subscription instead. Problem is, my streamer is an older firmware model and does not support either without a firmware upgrade. I go back to Cyrus and they said my only options are to send the unit at my cost down to Melbourne and then pay $250 for a firmware upgrade (as apparently this is a hardware update) just so I can get my online streamer to online stream!!!! Or, I could use a third party app and connect that way. They recommended MConnect or BubbleUPnP. So being the cheaper (and quicker option) I downloaded both of these and connected up my Qobuz account. The sound quality is absolutely revolting. I am not exaggerating here but it is worse than cassette quality sound and the buffering on the tracks is horrendous! So I am now looking at my options as being this: - Send the unit down to Melbourne for the upgrade (all up cost likely $350). Then hope that Cyrus don't make some other future call about compatibility that stops my online streaming from working. Still won't have an app that I can easily manage my music from, so would have to manually do this on the unit itself (because Cyrus are really well known for having user-friendly displays as it is!!!!) - Cut my losses, sell it and buy another streamer from another manufacturer. I am so furious at Cyrus on this. They make these really expensive pieces of equipment and then place zero energy or focus on the user experience that now renders my $3000 unit completely useless. Their customer service has basically just washed their hands of it and said I can use a third party app to make their product work the way it is supposed to. I've gone from being an absolute Cyrus Fanboi to being a "never again will I buy a piece of Cyrus equipment" boi. Any decent streamer with great user-experience suggestions out there?

It has been faultless during its time with me and I have been hanging on to it for too long. The volume control does not use a pot so when at a low volume setting the balance remains even between left and right - also a benefit when using the built in headphone stage. Other features include being able to name (from a fixed list) each input and configure a fixed level AV passthrough for those integrating their 2-channel and theater rig. The zone 2 output can also track any of the inputs separate to what you are listening to and of course it has great synergy with Cyrus amplifiers. The unit also supports the addition of a Cyrus PSX-R power supply to improve performance. Of note on this unit is whilst I call it a Pre XP it has a Pre xp d sticker on the back. I understand the difference is they are the same but one has a built in DAC. I am not sure why it is like this I purchased it this way. In true Cyrus fashion it's incredibly versatile with 3 channels of configurable amplification so it's a great way to add surround sound to an existing stereo setup (or with either the 8 Power or SmartPower above you can run a 5.1 setup or with both you can run a 7.1 setup) and provides great upgrade options with pre-outs for everything. Hi All, I've been slowly building my system, mostly through second hand acquisitions over the last 15 years. I've built up from something quite entry level to have the following system: Cyrus CD6 Cyrus X-Stream Sig Cyrus Pre2 DAC 2 x Cyrus SmartPower B&W 604S3 Now the B&W speakers are basically the last components of my entry level system bought 18 years ago and I want to replace them. I'm living in a rental at the moment, so I'm thinking a pair of bookshelves is probably more suitable to my circumstances at the moment. I listen to all sorts of music, not so much classical, but lots of blues, jazz, soul and funk, some rock and very small amount of pop. I do love tight bass. My go to auditioning piece is Talk Talk's I Don't Believe In You, from their Colour of Spring album if that gives any clues as to the type of productions I like to listen to. Anyway, looking for some decent bookshelf suggestions (new or second hand) for my next upgrade. Most of my listening these days is through my Tidal account hence the X-Stream presence, but still use CDs sporadically Thanks for listening.
