Guest Simonon Posted August 9, 2019 Share Posted August 9, 2019 Been listening to some old mono lps lately from the Stones, Beatles and recently found this early RCA mono pressing of Belafonte at Carnegie hall. I have enough mono stuff to justify a dedicated mono cartridge and purchased an Audiotechnica At mono 3lp for under $200. Makes a big difference on my system and very impressed by the sound quality of some of these early mono pressings. Luckily my turntable has a removable headshell with a swap taking a minute to dial in the cartridge weight at the recommended 2 grams. Even some average looking lps are nearly silent with this cartridge especially after an ultrasonic clean.
