One I forgot to mention.....through Discogs, a NM Dutch 1st pressing of the superb sonic production that is Sade's "Stronger Than Pride" as my cheap copy ($5) scored at the Hi Fi Show record fair is just too crackly.

I'm not into paying crazy money for records but one I would consider is the 'Analogue Productions' release of this album.....after hearing the Dean Martin AP release at the HiFi Show, I could only imagine how good the AP release of this album would sound.?

Image result for sade stronger than pride cover

That’s a really good album, I think I have the European pressing of Love Deluxe and it’s very good

55, that’s a really good price. I have the Making Movies one and it sounds amazing

Im still making my mind up about it - noticed some sibiliance i thought, or just very bright "s"'s

but i made some system adjustments on the weeken, so need to listen to my jap pressing and compare.

But s's aside i like it :)

Guest Simonon

Been listening to some old mono lps lately from the Stones, Beatles and recently found this early RCA mono pressing of Belafonte at Carnegie hall. I have enough mono stuff to justify a dedicated mono cartridge and purchased an Audiotechnica At mono 3lp for under $200. Makes a big difference on my system and very impressed by the sound quality of some of these early mono pressings. Luckily my turntable has a removable headshell with a swap taking a minute to dial in the cartridge weight at the recommended 2 grams. Even some average looking lps are nearly silent with this cartridge especially after an ultrasonic clean. Definately a step up in sound to pressing the mono switch on my preamp with a stereo cartridge as I have done previously.

Nice.

I agree, a mono cartridge can work wonders with some of those old mono records.
