Where can I find the wanted to buy section? This new Classified format does not suit me at all. Where I could once browse quickly through a list of items and select something akin to walking past a row of high end shops and selecting what appealed to me; to now having a specific need and searching through a layer of clicks to hopefully find it. Sucks totally. I now can't be bothered.

Regarding browsing the classifieds, what sort of view do you think is missing or would like to see?

I genuinely struggle to understand how anybody could not find this system better than the previous.

You can do everything, absolutely everything you could do before (View All Ads, condensed or expanded), but then you can do a myriad of additional things.

All it takes is just a couple of minutes to explore the options.

 

Then there's custom Activity Streams to dial in something really specific that suits your browsing preferences if possible.

Sure, when there is time I will start compiling some How To's and Tutorials. But honestly, just a few clicks and it really starts to make sense.

 

It's makes what we had look primitive, because it was, and it was about to stop working entirely had we not been proactive and developed this. I have zero regrets.

The new classifieds can be steered to emulate the row of shops feel.

Either

• with pictures

or

• Without pictures

and then there are many more exploring/browsing options that are not "linear" like the old classifieds where you were forced, more or less, to scroll through a high volume of ads. The search and filters on the new classifieds do work very well, power user addition 🙂

I tried your suggestion, but I still can't figure out how to customise the filters so that I'm not sifting through a lot of eg. media ads (vinyl records etc.).

When things settle down and I get some more time I will start creating some How To's ... but in the meantime this should point you in the right direction:

I know this is a small thing on the Create New Stream but some time could you possibly think of renaming the Ads to Classifieds?

I actually thought it was for advertisements on the pages. 🙂

 

At least I know what it is now though.

to help people find this ...  is it possible to update this section of the forum at some stage as the new classifieds really still doesnt feature much in it apart from the "global classifieds link" ? given its the meat in the sandwich for the classifieds section of the forum ? 

 

while its ok to say theres the classifieds link up top on the menu bar of the forum ... not everyone uses that menu bar ? ...many folks just scroll down looking and if look on your mobile (iPhone) theres just some hieroglyphic icons thats not clear one is classifieds.. infact none are, you have to go three lines, on the right click that and then a thing pops up and you find it between activity and videos ? and no that wont take you to want to buy, pay it forward, great deals etc

 

hence the two questions above...asking where the new classifieds are and other asking where the want to buy is ? 

 

its almost like an old world and new world coexisting in seperate hemispheres and need to be merged and combined...

This is my iPhone view.

When I open the browser I just hit the “forums” tab on the bottom left. Then scroll down through all the categories to the classifieds.

Its all still in the same spot

BUG: If you are on page one in condensed view, then go to page two it reverts back to expanded. Then, if you change to condensed, it takes you back to page one.

if you access the classifieds like i suggested through the 3 bars on the phone it takes you to new world of classifieds and you cant see want to buy or great deals etc.

I can understand Stereonet's desire to tinker with the Classified format. But I think in breaking it up into a myriad of seperate equipment-type chapters you've missed - and destroyed - one of the fundamental assets of the redundant format.

 

No longer can we just check in each day and easily see what new items have been posted in the last 24 hours. Start at the top and scroll down until reaching ads that I read yesterday.

 

Now you're forcing me to have to go into each seperate category. No longer can I just easily and quickly browse through the latest additions, which is what made browsing the site daily an enjoyable experience - to be able to see what different types of equipment was being sold, seeing equipment I'd not seen before and coming across - and buying - items I'd not even considered before. In fact, all the big dollar items I have bought on Stefeonet were not items I specifically searched for.

 

I can understand your reasoning to change so anyone with a specific interest in a type of equipment can go straight to the category, but wouldn't it be possible to have a section that just shows just posted items for us casual browsers - which I think you'd find is the majority of views for any specific item.

 

As it is now I'm not bothering to go the multitude of different sections and soon I'll sto0 being a regular user of the site.
