  • Thanks. I'll have a look at the video. Where would you source the belts from? Would you replace the rollers too? Cheers Herby

  • If you go onto eBay and in the search bar type in the name of your machine and model then belt kit. It should show you all the sellers with the belts you need. Just choose the one with the best review

and his costs are very reasoable. If it can be fixed, he can fix it.

A deposit of $50 is required for assessment and quote, that comes off the price of the repair.

Just recently bought a stack of Luxman gear.  At the last minute they included said cassette deck (with another ) stating it was chewing up tapes. Said I could take it and bin it if I wanted to. Looks to have been worked on.

Who should I have a look at it please and give me a honest price if it is repairable?    The missus has a few tapes laying around and I would get this unit fixed for her.

I am situated in the north east Green Wedge area.

TIA

There's a gentleman up there in Plenty who fixes and sells turntables and cassette decks.

PM me for (m).

I know a guy in Yannathan absolute genius less than $125 . You would need send it message me if you want to go ahead it would be less depending on belts and or parts

Electronics are beyond him.  Repaired fairly well a turntable but.  Seems to be his specialty.

Considering a guy called Jorge, but at $155 for the 1st hour  🤔.........

As I said earlier I know a savant with tape decks he will fix it in record time if you are willing to send it to him or me I will get to him and return it to you in person . It will be around $100 plus say $15 delivery . PM if you are interested he fixed a Yamaha K2000   Denon DRM-740 and a Tascam 122mkii and a Luxman K113 within 2 weeks .

Does he do electronics?  The problem is fast motor speed and no sound.  It is not just a mechanical issue.

Yes the fast motor might be an adjustment but sometimes it can be the polyester cap that controls the motor . Anyway yes he does the only hold up would be the wait on parts whether they are belts or Mouser , Element 14 getting the caps or variable resistor out . I'm in Drouin p.m perhaps we can meet half way.

I was brought up in Greensborough I thought that was ironic

@tubularbells helped to repair my Marantz cassette deck. A top bloke!

Hi Everyone,

I have an aging Nakamichi RX202, love the way it rotates (flip) the cassette instead of rotating the head for auto reverse.

The deck stops working a few weeks ago ie the cassette won't spin.

I am wondering if anyone can advice how to fix this or can recommend someone who can. I am based in Perth, Western Australia.

Thanks in advance.

hi @zippy2000 maybe flick an email to Jason, The Turntable Doctor, to ask if he deals with Nak https://turntable-doctor.com/Details.html

Thanks 2Brix, I checked out their website, seems they are into turntable servicing only. I might open up the Naka this weekend, probably loose belt since the unit is over 20 years old.

cheers,

Hi,

can someone recommend R2R recorder repair in Sydney?

Chris from Kimil Electronics is permanently closed

thanks in advance

Can someone recommend a good hifi repairer for high end hifi gears in Brisbane? Many thanks in advance.

You can ask Chris Nainby (Totally Technical, Bowen Hills) if he's still taking on work, he scaled back a lot of home hifi stuff a while ago to focus more on the more reliable and arguably simpler pro service work, but he still does a bit of vintage/analogue gear work, especially R2R and such.

He's being very selective with what he takes on these days, but he's one of the best.

I've got a Nakamichi DR-10 and RX-202 that needs a little attention. Anyone know of someone who knows how to service Naks in 2025?

Wow the memories! My brother had one of these in the 90's and it was a fantastic deck. The carousel was always a hit with visiting friends 🙂 I'm interested in whether you managed to get it fixed locally? I'm in Perth too and thinking of buying a secondhand deck but want to make sure I can service it. Cheers, N

I have read all of the replies. I have a Nakamichi that needs a service and new belts. Does anyone know of someone in the Northern Rivers area in Northern NSW. Any recommendations will be well received.

I'm looking at getting Nakamichi, lots around that are not working.

Seems the repair area is a bit of a nightmare due to the complexity, fragile nature and fact that repairs are likely to cost more than the deck would be worth in many instances. I think I will get something recently serviced but will likely still need servicing contacts for it. I'm based in Melbourne.
