Janjuggler Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Hi Just wondering what people thought was their best buy for the previous year, 2013, even your worst buy that you thought was great but was a waste of money, wish I hadn't done that moment when you first saw or used. Most of my 2013 purchases were music, with the David Bowie 40th Anniversary releases and King Crimson remasters being the highlights, as well as Progladyte's sale to help out a friend.... JJ
gat474 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 There were a few last year. It would be a toss up between a primare a32 power amp, ATC SCM20SL speakers or an Audiophilleo. I'd have to say the three votes go to the speakers.
Gruffnutz Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 FoxL bluetooth speaker for some acceptable toons in all those beige hotel rooms.
PorkBun69s Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Amr dac, the upgrade board to bring it up to SE level and a Weston Acoustics time machine 2a3 preamp.

tesla13BMW Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 For me it was the second set of ESL's which let me stack them. For the wifes system / second system it would be the Earle Weston Troubadour, but, then the CJ Walker turntable was a great buy as well. 1
blackangus Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Good grief, so many, most of them purchased through the sna classifieds! I love my legacy audio floor standers, they just sound so wonderful. The denon 301 mk II cart provided by rocky has been fantastic and made my Thorens sing like it hadn't before But I am gonna go with 'made possible' by the bad plus - scored it for five clams from title in Brunswick and have spun it tons. This album prompted me to dive into their back catalogue. One of those little surprises
Hergest Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 My best purchase was for the flight back to the UK for a month of rain and no music. On my return the hifi sounds like someone has spent a million dollars on it during my absence. I have never heard it sounding so good. 4
Guest yamaha_man Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) TAD Reference One loudspeakers. Most probably the best purchase I have/will ever make. Edited January 20, 2014 by yamaha_man
wolster Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 The $12 per month I spent on Spotify premium. 4
David.M Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Without any shadow of a doubt my vinyl rig closely followed by the UK 1st press Bowie/Floyd LPs, oh & the Classic 180g Zep's 1
ArthurDent Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 The pair of miniSHARC boards probably goes close...
CraigC Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 2013 was good to me, new Kuzma vinyl rig, the Aesthetix Calypso and the Esoteric E-03
CraigC Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) And I forgot the Clear audio RCM. Edited January 18, 2014 by CraigC
Satanica Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Audio: A pair of SVS SB12-NSD sub woofers. Video: A Panasonic TH-65ST60A plasma TV.
st3ph3nm Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 For me, 2 Vast albums and my new love, the Raspberry Pi. The Behringer DAC I got for it is OK, but not more than that. Oh, and two output fuses that got my lovely amp up and running again.

krebetman Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 What exactly is/does a Raspberry Pi do? Pretty much anything you want as it is just a very small computer. Could be a media server, media player, nas etc
soundfan Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 A Grave Science switch box. Allowed me to eliminate a pre amp from the chain.
Guest Hensa Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 For me it was a Denon DL-160 through sna. When I arrived at the house I was greeted by a very nice fellow who had decided to get out of hi-fi entirely and I left with a Dr Feickert protractor, a new digital cartridge scale and a few other goodies for cracking prices. The other purchase, or rather pick-up as it was free, was a huge box of vinyl which in addition to numerous gems, included a still sealed Beatles blue vinyl box set.
