Steever Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Having been in the audio industry on one level or another for most of my life I've come to notice that many of us music and audio lovers also like a quality time piece. So, please name yours. And also tell us why you love it. Mine? Omega Speedmaster Date (model: 3210.50.00) Certified automatic chronograph Pic was with Di-Model alligator although I now wear it most of the time on the stainless bracelet that came with it. I just love the design and functionality (yes I do use the chrono function from time to time). It can be dressed up or down. I've also had a Seamaster 120 and a Dynamic (pilots watch version from 2000)
Keith_W Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Heh I also like watches ... and pens My watches: IWC Portugeiser 7-day power reserve, and Rolex Date. Here are a couple of pictures of the IWC:
Mr_Gimlet Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I'm currently in a Breitling phase for some reason, though I'm not a big fan of metal straps. I also have a Vacheron Constantin but I think it is an older model so I couldn't find a picture - it's a Maltese automatic day date in white. I think this is closer to my watch that I love
Tony M Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I'm currently in a Breitling phase for some reason, though I'm not a big fan of metal straps.[/b] Yes, I'd love a Breitling.....I think you get a free Bentley if you buy one.....or is that the other way round? 1
Drizt Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 wow some nice watches there. But what you need is something like this.. highest fidelity time 1
Mr_Gimlet Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 But what you need is something like this..[/b] Too trashy, what you need is something more like this.

brumby Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Watch? Whatever for? If I need to know the accurate time (seldom) I just have a quick glance at my mobile. 1
Steever Posted November 3, 2007 Author Posted November 3, 2007 Watch? Whatever for? If I need to know the accurate time (seldom) I just have a quick glance at my mobile.[/b] So where's the pic? Mondie, I was looking at the 57th Anniversary Broad Arrows the other day. Noice! 'cept I gotta have a little date window.
jaspert Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I used to frequent Timezone and Purists forum daily but with 2 bubs, bigger mortgage and recent rekindling of hifi interest, i can't afford to get any more timepieces. I have a mix match of watches from affordable pieces like the JDM Seikos, Archimedes Pilot to dearer piece like the Reverso. My fav brand is JLC and these 2 are my favourite naturally. Reverso Grande Date Master Hometime
Jake Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Seiko 5 Automatic. A timeless classic. This is the only watch I own, and I ony wear it at work. Dont see much need for one otherwise. 1
mondie Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Lovely collection Jaspert, l too used to spend way to many hours over at Timezone. l think l am cured, at least for the time being  1
Young Skywalker Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I have a Tag Heuer Kirium which is the most expensive watch that I could ever contemplate owning. I do love watches and other fine mechanical instruments but I have to be realistic about my budget when hi-fi and photography are competing for any disposable income. Oh yeah, better think about a house, wife and kids one of these days, 32 is fast approaching. Aaron
Gav Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Here is my one and only at the moment, which I only ware when going out. Im not sure what modle it comes under, but it has a solid gold basil and crown.
davidsss Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Just a stock standard Seiko here - roman numerals and no digital - I like my watches with hands so I can read it fast. Also have an old Seiko automatic lying around somewhere, a fake Cartier I used for a few years (nice and small) and a rather strange watch which has a picture of the moon on it and a lunar module as a second hand (it's an old wind up watch and if you drop it - it stops and you have to get it fixed, not shockproof). Someone mentioned pens above: I can't stand biros, they don't write properly so I am always on the look out for decent fountain pens which aren't expensive as I use them for everyday writing at work. I currently have a nice Parker with a fine nib which writes very well. DS
joz Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Watch? Whatever for? If I need to know the accurate time (seldom) I just have a quick glance at my mobile.[/b] C'mon , watches are not for timekeeping anymore. like you said the time is everywhere these days. Would love Rolex,Omega or Breitling.but with the way things I wear get destroyed in my industry I wear Seiko auto,I have an old Longines around somewhere???
Keith_W Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Someone mentioned pens above: I can't stand biros, they don't write properly so I am always on the look out for decent fountain pens which aren't expensive as I use them for everyday writing at work. I currently have a nice Parker with a fine nib which writes very well.[/b] That's easy - get a Lamy Safari. The plastic bodied ones are $40, alu is $60-70. These things are workhorses. Nice balance, comfortable in the hand. Downside is that it is a cartridge / converter filler - meaning ink capacity is about the same as everyday Parkers and Sheaffers. I use an Omas Paragon at work. This is a piston filler so ink capacity is massive. It's also got a beautiful nib and a durable body If you want a cheap-ish piston filler with a decent nib, you can't go past the Pelikan 400. Mind you, it's still about $1k ... but at least that's cheaper than the Omas.
Tweaky Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 1964 OMEGA lipped ringed Seamaster. Recently had a new rotor fitted....runs perfectly....it's an Omega...Durh Check this guys website in Holland for the best Omegas......If looking at getting one/another. http://www.omega-fanatic.com/ You will either love me or hate me for that link.....the other half loathes the fact that it exists.
JA Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Hello Winno, Nothing on my wrist- don't wear a watch any more. I have "orphaned" a couple of lovely watches as a result. Best JA

jaspert Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Lovely collection Jaspert, l too used to spend way to many hours over at Timezone. l think l am cured, at least for the time being [/b] Thanks. It was a "disease" and i think i'm cured too. Love your Chronoswiss Lunar Chronograph. I've been eyeing a CS Chronoscope for a while.
Grumpy Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 There is probably nothing special about this watch to anyone except me. Georgina, my missus bought this for me one Xmas and it was a total surprise; Not very expensive and you couldn't call it 'BLING' but it's getting old and battered but still keeps time and it's mine. ADEC (Citizen) white face gold and Silver. Just what I wanted
Waylander Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 I gave up on watches - was sick of being a prisoner of time. Have never looked back. I'm also late to everything. My wife has a baume and mercier. Very nice watch. I think I got a canon 70-200 4L IS instead. Lovely watches guys. Dangerous thread. Pens hmmm I use a Mont Blanc black pen. It looks nice and works.
warnsey1 Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 While not as nice as some of yours. Here is a picture of my watch (well not the actual one... To lazy to take a pic. but the same model):
