The Helix is rather special, and note I have never heard the twin guitar intro to Lou Reeds' live album ' Rock and Roll Animal' sound so real.

The later selections from the ' Mrs. Mills's Party Album '  were even better. Polka and honky-tonk rule !!

As a late afternooon blow in, it was great catching up with faces old and new. Even managed to pick a few bones after the vultures had descended and throughly enjoyed the chicken and lamb as well as the pomegranate salad solid washed down with a nice Pinot or two.

 

Oh yeah, the system ain't half bad either 🤣

 

Na it was an absolute pleasure to listen to the mighty Helix in a proper setting and admittedly my scepticism soon turned to awe as honestly I wasn't sure if or how much improvement could be had to an already fine sounding system but oh my yep a Helix has now been added to the other gear I plan to get when I trip over a very large bag of $$.

Not much I can say, that hasn't been said already, it was a great day, the food was absolutely lovely, hats off to Clive & his Mrs and all involved..🙏

 

Its was great catching up with SNA members too, the Helix sounded great, smooth & detailed ..

An ode to the @evil c GTG

 

Hear the vinyl spinning, we sway to the beat

Echoes of melodies, good food and friends, our souls complete

Lush green grass, glass of good wine and sun’s warm embrace

Indulge a  feast for the senses, shared magic in place.

Xanadu found in that golden afternoon space.

Phew, just getting on top of the clean up after a massive day of feasting and festivities - which after the bathroom flooding debacle was a sorely needed distraction! 

After Al's brilliant write up,  l don't need to add very much and only managed to take a few pics!

Firstly thank you for your compliments, and kind words. 😊

 

I had a full turnout of everyone I invited, so had a lot of mouths to feed!

Greek style butterlied Lamb over the coals ,and Middle Eastern style Chicken.

 

 

Here we can see @illusioncaught  scheming, on corrupting my LP filing system!,😂

 

 

Lots of very good reds were brought along by the guests,  curiously some of the aged and very best never got opened! 😬

I never saw any of that Mudhouse Pinot Noir, regrettably before it was empty!,🫤

I would just like to thank everyone who came, and made it such a special day - and especially to my long suffering but enormously supportive wife , (Mrs evil ) who worked tirelessly making up desserts and salads etc.😃

The Helix was a behemoth to behold, but once it started spinning, it didn't matter what record was on, it was fabulous.

Really liked that Jazz record Russell brought along too. Forgetten the name, but the playing was top notch.

You must have been living under a rock Greg, l wrote about it a lot recently!,😉

It is sounding absolutely incredible now, I've been doing a bit of fine tuning and just updated to a PS Audio P10 Power regenerator which has elevated things somewhat!

 

Digital sounds excellent now, but with the Helix it is virtually like sitting in the studio -  hearing a live performance with all the mixing trickery! 

It's well worth hearing in a home environment, rather than a brief listen in a hifi show room. 😊

Been awhile since the last update.

Lot of listening going on, with tweaks here and there to improve things!

In the meantime, it is that time of the season - with Olives 🫒 ready to pick.

We have had a few sources to draw on, with around 10kg total l believe and more to come!

So lot of pitting and brining, and bottling to do with labels divulging source .

@ZEN MISTER has been a very generous donor from his Maritime Olive Grove plantation!

 

Here we see ZEN and evil Olives all bottled up, and verging on commercial quantities!

Not that I would stoop to profiting from a friend . 😒

Although there have been some large expenditures recently, if anyone loves plump, complex Olives then why pass up an opportunity (?) 😬

Gruelling chore agreed, employed oldest Mini me and he lasted a session then mysteriously became unavailable!😕

Pretty good range normally of tunes, main mix of Radio Paradise 🙂

Anyhoo, the new additions look fabulous, sorry I couldn't make it, working Saturdays now has it's pitfalls.

I've been doing my own olives for years. It's not worth the effort. No matter how many times I change the brine the olives are still bitter.
