We're onto our second cans now, the pork and fennel sausage casserole is bubbling away and I have opened this 13 Gask Shiraz from Torbreck to go with. Sid shows moderate approval.

I like the sound of that sausage casserole. I'm imagining a rich tomato base, with white beans, kind of cheat's cassoulet.

 

I'm starting on a Robert Oatley Chardonnay, but despite the long weekend moderation will be the order of the evening as we are driving up to the central coast tomorrow for a junior cricket tournament.

Nevermind the wine it's those ingenious oil pourers and pizza dough balls in the background that got my attention. What a great idea to repurpose bottles like that👍

The cheat's cassoulet was epic. Lots of fresh capsicum, some haricot beans, cumin and smoked paprika...

Absolutely stunning wine, it was about $50 when David offered us a bottle at the cellar door all those years ago. He was so proud of his boys and their efforts.

Time spent with Cait at Hutton Vale is never wasted. She is super lovely and the family are a Barossa institution. Enjoy in the best of health.

I am very full. The pork was fantastic. Mrs Tel snuck a couple of stuffed apples into the oven when I wasn't looking. Sultanas and rum with brown sugar.

 

Now watching Game of Thrones re-runs and opening a chaser from another of my favourite Barossa families:
