One my fav albums, Both for the music and it's stellar recording. One of those recordings that begs for volume.

Didn't know you liked Threshold, good work. Been into then myself since thier first "Wounded Land" they have had some great vocalists Damien Wilson one of them but I believe he has left again. Karl Groom is genius as well and has worked on a lot of the Pendragon albums.

As someone who keeps the platter spinning when changing sides I reckon trying to pick this one up while rotating would be a challenge and would most likely end in tears :P

Doesn't really belong here but Gillan was classed as metal back then. Buggered if I know why someone with the talents of Ian Gillan could never record a decent album. Mr Universe was probably his best effort but the rest of his output goes from middling to junk. This sits in the middling division. A couple of good moments but that's all.

Seriously better band live.

I totally agree, seen him live in a pub, just release the Future Shock album, it was a great gig but the album is average.

Although for some reason that I'm unaware of I have always like his album with Roger Glover, Accidently in Purpose, it is just a very unique album.

A pub gig would have been good. I used to see him at the Birmingham Odeon, every tour from Mr Universe up to Magic. I remember an interview with him in Sounds when either Future Shock or its follow up Double Trouble was first released and he thought the album was so poor that he threw the cassette tape of the first mix out of the window of his car on the motorway. At the time his record company would have released pretty much anything he recorded I reckon as clots like me would buy it.

I don't know Accidently In Purpose. Perhaps Glover brought out the best in Gillan? I'll have to track it down.
