Christmas Day: What's Cooking / on the Menu?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,  What's on the menu for Christmas Day?

The fab wife's cooking her Christmas special, Beef Roast and Vegetables, followed by Apple Pie and Ice Cream (gotta be the Streets Blue Ribbon vanilla ice cream).  Crisp, chilled Apple Cider to go with it.

Anyone firing up the BBQ?  Are any SNAers BBQ masters?  I'm off to slice up the continental French bread stick.

Cyprus Grill - Rotisserie - Lamb and Chicken with secret marinade that I have only shared with one SNA member ;)

Pasticho , baked veg , salad , fruit, sweets

Beer and soft drinks

Seasons greetings to all

Just like this blokes Cyprus grill

Been soaking a Turkey in brine overnight and just put it on the weber with wine soaked hickory chunks instead of small chips and it's sitting in a bed of wine+brandy+vegies+stock breast side down and draped in wet cheescloth. it's a Yank recipe for Thanksgiving.

Glazed leg of hams just gone into the oven and we're making brandy butter for the Xmas pud that's been doing it's thing for the last 2 days in a sealed pot.

Had champagne brekky at 8 with smoked salmon and Mumm champers and a heap of fruit ect and we're about to watch the original Miracle on 34th Street with the always scrumptious Maureen O'Hara as the weber does it's thang :)

2 Byron brewery pale ales demolished and wondering whether to curb the urge for more!

Hope everyones having a great one.

First time I have baked a ham.......god damn its good.....going to sleep now :D

ham coma

Slow roasted lamb shoulder, the best rolled pork loin we've ever done, contreau soaked trifle, Spanish anis liqueur, feral brewing ipa. Great day thus far.

Btw, Donna hay can get stuffed. Her sweet recipes are deplorable

Being a Korean, I am cooking Korean flavoured (bulgogi) ribeye steak tonight which my wife loves. Post the pic of it later if I get a chance.  :)

Roast turkey, ham, home made pickled pork and corned beef, roast vegies and salads, lots of tapas over the day, some great craft beer and beaut wines.

Nespresso and home made coffee & almond ice-cream to seal the day.

I looked up the meaning of corpulent just to make sure...yes, I am indeed becoming:physically bulky; which I much prefer to the other quite course meaning:fat.

adj.

bulky of body; portly.

Yep that'll do.

*Damn that Turkey and two servings of pud and brandy butter too and ...well it just never ends and tomorrow it's couch day! Cricket+ham+turkey+beer+wine+ham+pud+turkey+pud and Syd2Hob yatch race+beer+cricket...snooze and more of the same.

I just lurve Chrissy! :party

Chrissy lunch for us was held on Monday, as one important family member is working today.

We did the slow roast turkey, organic ham, veggies and massive trifle. Today was a bit quieter with churros for breakfasy, home made chips at lunch (from home grown spuds), and a simple roast pork for dinner.

After 3 days gorging in Tassie last week, then xmas, I am a completely fat bastard.

Just had barbecued whole snapper and a pile of prawns with garlic butter and a couple of bottles of Pinot Gris followed by my mums trifle. Just been chased into the house by damn mossies.

Just woke up an hour ago......toasted ham and cheese sandwiches with baked ham - where have you been all my life!.....god I feel fat ;)

I baked a ham a few weeks ago because it was a bit tough as it was. Straight out of the oven it was bloody sensational. I smeared the entire ham with pepper, cloves and home made marmalade. Fantastic.

I did the clove thing, then butter, honey, and brown sugar glaze....sensational

Handbrake just glared at me: "Your having a beer now? It's 10to10!"   I said. So?

Funny cattle aren't they.

I had a GF a looong time ago, that when I cracked open a longneck she would remark "Are you going to drink that entire bottle?"

At least you'll know what the time is, Lee! :-)

I am enjoying a nice whisky or two as we speak. So you aren't alone.

I went to a Mexican themed Christmas Lunch today. Just an excuse for everyone to wear silly sombreros and drink tequila. There was also the obligatory pinata. There was a Lamb spit roast which went down well. Someone actually threw some "Shrimps on the Barby" which were quite delicious. I took a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc as I knew everyone else drinks sweet wine (yuk) so I had mine all to myself.

As it was quite warm and sunny the Sombreros proved to be quite useful in addition to looking ridiculous :)
