I went out to the Werribee water treatment plant today to see what it was like.  Apparently it's a bit of a birder's Mecca.   I didn't end up getting any pics worth posting.   Unfortunately I don't have any decent bird lenses, only the Nikon VR 70 - 300 which although good for sports etc is a bit short for the smaller bids and really suffers if the sun isn't out.  I'll go out again, I'll just make sure that the light is good and maybe try getting a little closer to the subjects.

Some shots from our just completed 1600-1800 km journey through the dirt in central Oz - Flinders Ranges National Park - Strzelecki Track and Oodnadatta Track with side trips to Coober Pedy and Arckaringa before hitting Oodnadatta and Marla back on the bitumen.

with all its curves and reflections I found it a difficult car to photograph, and I dont think my photos or the setting really did it justice. But still quite a stunningly beautiful car to behold !

Ah yes saw that on TV.

With that old dusty ute they took great care when transporing it to make stuff like cobwebs etc stayed in place for the authentic look.

Great pics of the cars. No question that efijy is and always will be a stunning car. It is world class. I hope it still resides here in Australia as I bet collectors from around the world have tried to acquire it.

thankyou fez, yes I agree a stunning car...though where it is, I found pretty hard to photograph to do justice. not sure if coming to other states etc, but if anyone in victoria if a racv member its only $11 to visit and not a massive display but worth it. the cars are not immaculate concourse restored. more the style of restorations that keep in original condition as much as possible. i.e. with split vinyl on seats etc.

the "ute" is a real interesting one. even with chicken wire roof ! looks like as was hauled out of a barn :)

the also had a few other cars e.g. a GTS, charger and ford 351 for the days when bathurst specials meant some pretty amazing cars on the road. there were a few cars e.g. the blue bugatti not there as its australian design, but because it was influence on australian designed cars of the time. the internal displays really have these cars shown in a beautiful light. can almost not go wrong with going click with the shutter :D

That is a terrific photo and a great reminder of what a blunder it was not to make the GTR-X. It would be as hallowed as a Phase 3 if it ever wet into production as it would have replaced the XU-1 as the production race car of choice. It still looks sensational, especially if you surround it by the cars of its day, then it looks truly revelatory. Shame

thankyou mondie. never seen one in the metal myself. an amazing machine indeed. I do agree australian motoring history was robbed by not bringing this out. a real shame it was held back. yes surrounded by other cars of the era a real shame indeed !

There's a back story to that Roo being in the water, I'll type it out later once I've woken up

Lovely shot but it is unfortunate the way he got to be in the water.
