Edit : snip, gone. Too secret to keep displayed.

You didn't hear it from me, but it's been known to steal a few grapes ear marked for Grange.

Good luck getting any, I'm open to offers. Lololololol.

I gotta say the Tahbilk 2010 Shiraz is just unbelievably good. It's so big and tastes like it's aged twice as long as it has. Terrific with a big steak, $17 at Dan's. I have three left.

I have around a dozen wines from 2004 that I've bought over the years, waiting for 2014 to rock around. Some Penfolds 389/407, Blue Pyranees, McWilliams Philip and other surprises I've forgotten about. An enjoyable year ahead!

Bleasdale "Mulberry Tree " Cab Sav.

$15 at Dan's.

You can either consume it now or put some away for a few years.

Definitely this - I've just finished my 2006 & moved on to the 2008.

As others have mentioned, the mike press shiraz is great for $12 or so.

Wirra Wirra church block was great at $15, but prices have been creeping up.

If anyone wants some random bargains, Vinomofo does good specials - PM me if you want a $25 credit sign-up code :)

+1 for Mt Langhi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz.

You can usually pick it up for $23 a bottle. It has a real consistency across vintages, which for an everyday drinker is an under-rated quality. The 06 was an absolute stunner, but as mentioned, you can buy any vintage with confidence that you are getting quality.

It is medium bodied, cherry fruits with white pepper. Not to everyone's tastes maybe, but well worth a try.

Just to name few that I think, imo worth the money (not going to put $ next to them) which I actually drank.  :hiccup

Penfolds - 1996 Bin 389, 1996 Grange, 1991 Bin 28, 1998 Koonunga Hill reds

Rosemount - 1996 Balmoral Syrah

Henschke - 1995 Mt Edelstone

Cullens - 1995 & 1997 Cab Merlot

La Testa - 2000, 2001 Shiraz, Cab Sauv, Merlot, Grenache

Rosenvale - Res Shiraz, Res Cab, Res Semillon.

They wouldn't have been cheap methinks!

The find of 2013 for me was the 2011 Geelong clean skin Pinot from Dan's, a freak of a wine that cost the princely sum of $8.

The 1995 Chateau d'Yquem didn't make the photo, I forgot to put it in the line up! DRC Romanee St Vivant 2002 was lovely but I really have to question the pricing and hype.

I had a 1999 Chateau d'Yquem and although not a great vintage it was an amazing wine. Not appropriate to talk about it in an affordable red thread though:)

Apologies, I posted in the wrong thread... Should have been in 'currently drinking'. My bad.

Yeah, that belongs in the "I have to sell my top end hi-fi gear so I can afford a good bottle of red" thread.

Wallace Shiraz/Grenache (2009) by Ben Glaetzer. I have bought this several times and I beleive it drinks well above it's price.

Sometimes I wonder if I did the right thing when I gave up drinking. I mean, looking at all of the bargains here, I could have saved a fortune.

Got these freebies and I can certainly say they drink well above that price!

Oo that's mean, I'll have to tell Wayne (the owner of Anvers).

Seriously the one on the left was good.

Pensilva Estate from ZVintage cellars Shiraz, its a Coles brew but very good for 10 a bottle;

Torbreck Woodcutter's Shiraz. About $22 a bottle

Just picked up the 2010 Parker Cab Sav, tasted good at the tasting and looks to have potential to age. Not bad for $29 a bottle.

Morris Rutherglen Shiraz 2010

Very good for $10 and change (at Dan Murphy's).

Torbreck Woodcutter's Shiraz. About $22 a bottle

This was the first red my wife actually enjoyed and could drink more than half a glass of (almost everything else under $60 just gets a "it just tastes like red wine"). Thankfully it's also almost the cheapest in the Torbreck line up. I like it.

Torbreck Woodcutter's Shiraz.

15% alco (and is the law for labelling +/- 1% so could be 16%?)

absolutely respect anyone's personal taste in wine, but I seriously reckon the industry has gone bl**dy bonkers with these dry port styles for instant gratification

for the ladies, look out if you've had 2 glasses of this in the first hour and drive and get asked to blow in the proverbial by the nice man in the fancy uniform

now I will respectfully duck for cover

Torbreck Woodcutter's Shiraz. About $22 a bottle

Cheers mate for this recommendation, picked up a few bottles yesterday and cracked one open for dinner......most enjoyable.
