Violent Femmes (1983)

Memories of cruising with the boys in the Ford Anglia, boot full of flagons (or goons), singing along with the Femmes, Billy Idol, Talking Heads, Dance Exponents. Some of the goodest times.

Could never get into Nirvana for some reason, or Stone Temple Pilots. But l loved Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains from that era. Some of Soundgarden were quite good. Go Figga. Bit like the Beatles vs Rolling Stones. I was more into the Beatles back then.  But l must admit l do like the earlier Stones now. Interesting how our music tastes change/evolve over the years.

I was the opposite with regards to Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains, there wasn't much in 'The Early 90s Era' that appealed perhaps Smashing Pumpkins, I found most of the music from that period to be 'pretty much all tarred with a similar brush'.

I agree. When Grunge first came onto the scene, it was new; it was fresh. And we had Brit Pop around the same time.

But you are right there was a sameness. Take Pearl Jam for e.g., l only listen to 10, Vs. and Vitalogy. I have the other albums, but l don't play the others anymore. I don't mind their new album, but not sure l would buy it.

I seem to have turned a full circle.

Loving Prog at the moment, and in turn reverting back to music of my youth. Sabbath, ELO, Dire Straits.

And mainly buying well pressed vinyl of same. Speaking as which, as l am writing this, my Mofi mastered;45 speed Brother in Arms as just arrived. Be listening later.

That album you have posted, You Want It Darker; is an absolute ripper. Only got it on CD at the moment. Love Nick Cave too.  There is a lot to choose from. I know it's keeping me broke.
