Further information: I picked these from a member on here earlier this year. They had one broken driver but, no matter how I peered at it or which way I held my tongue, I couldn’t get it to spontaneously start working again ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Happily, although I could not source an exact replacement driver, I did find THESE, which are exactly the same dimensions and of very similar specifications to the originals. I installed them with very little trouble and have been enjoying them for a couple of months now. Having ended up with a few different pairs of headphones this lockdown (funny how that happens), I have decided to move them on and let someone else enjoy them.
I would describe the sound as very large and lush, with a wide stage, deep bass and a smooth top end. For all that, they were a bit dark for my tastes (for reference, so are HE4XX and Senn HD650s). I wish I could compare them comprehensively to the LCDs and Sundaras of the world but, at this point, I’m not sure the planar sound is for me.
With an original retail price of over $1000, the headphones themselves are extremely well-made with nice materials and I found them very comfortable for multi-hour listening sessions. I’ll include the original drivers, in case you know something about repairing planar drivers that I don’t (quite possible, if you know more than absolutely nothing) and all the original packaging is still intact, so shipping should be safe.
Surely someone in the SNA headphone mafia wants bragging rights on a pair of planars no one else in the world owns? C’mon!
