I think Fish wrote some of the lyrics for the albumn too.

I think that was the cross over point.

Marillion is the only band whereby l can't make a choice between the 2 lead singers. Love 'em both and what they brought to the band.

I guess it's a bonus, because l love all the  Fish albums too.

Can't wait for his new album next month.

Great to see another Fish/Marillion fan.

I'm waiting on Pete Trewavas' new LP with Edison's Children to be pressed in vinyl, it is imminent. Already have the CD :)

On a cold, windy, rainy miserable day on the Central Coast I warmed things up by reliving one of my favorite concerts of all time. DAR Constitution Hall, Wash. D.C. 1976. DAR stands for Daughters of the American Revolution, in other words, direct descendants of those that fought in the Revolutionary War. Not so sure they were fighting for the right to do what was going on in the subterranean bathrooms. Let's just say the mood was super chilled brother.

Morning All,

Now listening to Janissary, A Balkan Rock Opera by Paul Shapera

Jan.jpg.c2347d93a11d76c7d6f8ee63eee4caf1.jpg

Janissary is a 3 act rock opera. It features 5 characters: Brija, the Daughter, Danijela, the Mother, Bogdan, the Father, The Vizier and a small appearance by the Black Monk. There are numerous Balkan themes and allusions woven into the story.

The practice of the Ottomans randomly taking Balkan children from their homes and raising them far away to become Janissary soldiers was called Devshirme, the blood tax. I have taken a few liberties with historical details, so do not take this opera as being completely historically accurate.

Would probably be at home in the Jazz or Blues threads too.

Have'nt seen or heard of this one since I was a teenager, - and that's an age ago. My best mate had it and I do remember it being a pretty fab album.
