Citroen Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 All on vinyl today: The Robert Cray Band - Bad Influence John MAYALL - Jazz Blues Fusion FIRST LIVE LEADBELLY 1
ZEN MISTER Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 The timing is interesting, but this has just gone up on the A.F. site. I heard the original CD all those years ago, and was not taken with the mastering; too clean. I think Steve or Kevin will find the breathing heart of this one, and give it another lease of life. A.F. are currently in an amazing phase with recent SACDs of Earth, Wind and Fire, and Labelle absolutely cooking. ZM. 1
Al Leece Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Not having any BB to play in tribute (I know, a bit of a gap in music collection, there) I decided to play some blues anyway. This came to me yesterday and I put it on. Damn fine album it is, too! Disclaimer: I know Mr. Rowe's sister from when I lived in Bermuda but only recently heard she had a muso brother.
frankn Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 This now Goes well with. G&T Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2

Monty Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 3 LP boxset of Robert Johnson - King of the Delta Blues Complete Recordings Great stuff Citroen. I re-read Bob Dylan's Chronicles Volume 1 a couple of weeks ago. I had forgotten that it finishes with him discovering Robert Johnson. He gets signed by Columbia and John Hammond gives him a test pressing of King of the Delta Blues Singers. It blow his mind and he reflects on it as though this was the last piece of the conceptual framework, subconsciously assembled, that allowed him to find his own grasp on song form and language and so open the way for his transformation from a young sponge soaking up folk and blues songs to a prolific writer of original songs. I hope we writes Chronicles Volume 2 before his time is through. Currently spinning King of the Delta Blues Singers on CD. 2
pulinap Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Rough Guide To African Blues LP Will definitely be following up on few of these artists. Some really interesting and new sounding (at least to me) stuff here. It is quite interesting to see how blues has travelled the full circle. The Americans 'discovered' blues through the Englishmen who were 'trying' to emulate the delta sound........then in turn discovered that it all goes back to West Africa via Diddley Bow and Jamaica ......... 2
