soundfan
Wilco: Wilco I'm a big fan of this album. It may not have broken new ground for the band, but I just love the folky relaxed feel to it. Wilco: Being There The bands classic sprawling second album. From the epic opening 7 minute "Misunderstood" to the opening song of record 2 "Sunken Treasure" which starts as a slow ballad, but ends with swirling organs and crunchy feedback. This album has it all.

likwidsh0k
FNM, SC3, and the Porkies - thats a quality run right there. ZM. I was at first unsure if you were referring to Monk's earlier post of Primus and Pork Soda, as kind of think of them more as a solo project with a few excellent musicians If unfamiliar with the Porkies definitely check em out - Porcupine Tree, crap name, awesome band Gave this a spin in the dark with headphones last night.. Monty
Taking a cue from @@soundfan, I've been listening to some soul women, each of them backed by fine bands. I narrowly favour Aretha over Nina, but they are both great. Ann Peebles and Mary Jane Hooper are in a lower tier but thoroughly worth listening to. Their best tracks cut through to hit you like one of the greats. Nina Simone - It Is Finished (1974/CD) Aretha Franklin - Young, Gifted and Black (1972/CD) This Is Ann Peebles (1969/CD) Mary Jane Hooper - Psycedelphia (1966-70/1997/CD)

RankStranger
On wax. For my money, one of only two original soundtracks that can stand on it's own 100% separately from the film as an amazing piece of music. The other one is this:
