I think I might be shifting my allegiance to this first batch of Marvel movies since 2008 up until Avengers: Endgame.

That being said, I got a Greedo T-Shirt as a present from my sister and it was awesome!

Love all Star Wars, good and bad. Gotta get hold of the Harmy Despecialised Edition now.

Cheers,

Alberto

Finally caught up and saw Solo today.  I was expecting, perhaps unreasonably, to be the same high standard as Rogue One. It was a missed opportunity to develop Han's character further.  But it is by no means the worst Star Wars movie ever although someone did vote it as such in the poll!

Saw the Rise of Skywalker this morning and it received a pass mark from me.  It was a different Star Wars movie, not the best and certainly way better than him!

But there are plenty of critics out there rating Rise of Skywalker worse than Phantom Menace,  Here is your chance to vote, and or even re-vote. ...

It is a bit annoying with the UHD releases of all the films no-one locally (or even easily accessible) is doing a box set of all movies.

agree expect to buy individually... annoying... rather a compact box set. I received the original blu-ray box set as a bonus epson were giving away with an epson projector i bought at the time....

I like the prequel series a lot. At least it told a great COHERENT PLANNED story, unlike the sequels. It is just the execution and direction was bad. If Lucas has just been an ideas man and handed it over to real directors, it would have been incredible. Just like Empire Strikes Back.

Story wise, I just love how overall dark it is and if you watch it and view it from the perspective of "how Palpatine managed to play both sides of the universe against each other and seize control of the universe", it is great. It is just the direction and writing that let it down. Lucas had great ideas and vision, but as a director, to classify him as anything other than a journeyman director is sad. He is no autuer. If he hadn't made a squillion from Star Wars, if I'd looked at his IMDb credits and seen he'd spent the last 40 years directing random tv episodes to eke a living, it'd be expected.

Dunno why the hatred for Phantom Menace is that great. I rate the fight scene with Darth Maul as one of the best! Certainly better than all before it, and the music rocks. What it was lacking was more of that perhaps.

Not hatred, just totally annoyed by Jar Jar Binks and a plodding story line.  One good fight scene plus the pod race does not save it.

Here it comes!

The 1st of April for the Australian release........ I hope that date's not an omen of some sort.....  :ermm:

Time for another option on the poll.

Are you referring to the UHD/BD/DVD release of the Rise Of Skywalker?  The movie was included in the polls before theater release and so far, has no votes...

It's a bit different with the prequels though, they knew they had to lead directly into Episode IV so I guess in that sense they had a sharper direction from the get go.

I went to the first ever showing of the first Star wars at the 11am showing at Hoyts George St Sydney way back when I was 17, I thought it was brilliant, even though it was only in stereo playing through Phillips electrostatic speakers, that either they, or the amps driving them were crapping out, as when it got loud it was horribly distorted.

There was no hype about Star Wars back at the beginning, it was considered just a kids movie for the school holidays, but the word soon spread by people that saw it, and that's what made it huge.

Ironically I watched the last Star Wars last night, in full surround and in 4K, and it was a bitter disappointment, and IMHO the worse of the lot, and some of them were pretty bad [usually wooden acting the culprit], but at least it was usually only in parts.

'The rise of Skywalker' was just a really lazy effort in every department, especially the script, it was woeful.

Honestly, I think they might of had the whole movie story boarded and hanging in the production office, and then a cleaner might have come into the office and accidentally knocked it off the wall, then hurriedly tried to put it back together so that nobody would notice, and looks like they didn't

The resulting mess is what they shot.

What a way to end a saga 40 years in the making.?

With 79 votes cast, let's look at the results by taking the votes from the best and subtracting the worst votes

Best

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back: 23-0 = 23

Episode IV: A New Hope: 25-3 = 22

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story: 8-2 = 6

Worst

Episode VIII: The Last Jedi: 1-12 = -11

Episode II: Attack of the Clones: 0-13 = -13

Episode I: The Phantom Menace: 0-26 = -26

Not surprised that Empire Strikes Back and New Hope are rated the best. Am slightly surprised Rogue One came third, but I did like it. Phantom Menace rightly belongs at the bottom. Am surprised Attack of the Clones was disliked by so many because I saw it as an antidote to Jar Jar Binks from Episode 1.  Last Jedi rounded off the bottom 3, been criticised by quite a few here.

I'm going to watch Phantom Menace next time with an open mind. And maybe, just maybe, not be so critical of Anakin Teenager Skywalker.

And @betty boop , pod racing rocks! Play it loud, it shakes the house! Sebulba's pod is like having a Harley right there in your living room!

As much as I like Ep. V, I think it's a bit overrated, I personally prefer Return of the Jedi. Have any of you watched Harmy's despecialized editions? They're a blast!

And the three new movies, they all rank high. Yes, Rise of Skywalker leaves some questions unanswered and some loose ends untied, but hey, after 40 years and 24hrs of film or so someone must've missed something.

What can I say, I'm a Star Wars tragic.

Cheers,

Alberto

Whilst it maybe Heresy here, I think Rogue One and the series The Mandalorian are probably the darkest of all and in some respects the best.  First hope obviously wins cause it was first and released in 1977 so long ago, but ultimately it a naive kids adventure with some new special effects.

The series format of the Mandalorian really allows for character development.

Disney killed off the Star Wars franchise IMO. The sequel trilogy are probably the worst movies ever produced with The Last Jedi being an appalling mess and The Rise Of Skywalker the most cringeworthy pile of dogshit ever conceived.

Star Wars are children’s movies and as such I don’t subject them to an adult analysis so to speak

I be enjoyed them all although some are better than others

The Empire Strikes back is the second one I think

They certainly look better at the movies than tv because they are mainly special effects

That is what makes them entertaining to me and I’ve seen them all at the time of their release
