My contribution with a Thorens TD160 MkII that I bought from a SNAer about 6 months ago.

Replaced the plinth with one made from Marri Burl.

Laser cut 3mm black acrylic logo on front of plinth

Deck and chassis spray painted satin black and gloss vinyl cut graphics applied.

Chassis mounted with stainless steel barrel mounts.

Rega tonearm replaced with The Wand Classic with a Hana SL cart.

Very happy with result and sound quality.

Glad to be back in 'vinyl land' after 30 something years.

Just supplied and setup the wonderful Swiss-made Thales TTT-S II turntable with Thales Easy tonearm. Wonderful turntable - build quality to die-for. Can be battery operated (for up to 10 hours).
And that arm!!!!

Very nice looking table! I've never heard of Thales before. How did you come across them and what made you settle on one?

Always about finding the best solution for the client! It helps when there are so many darn good looking decks out there!

Oh I see, you supplied one. My mistake! Very nice though, I'll be sure to check out your website. Never know when the itch for a new bit of equipment will come about

OK, here is my Rock II, had it since 1986, a bit modded.

Moth RB250 modded by j7 at Audio Origami and fitted with an OL structural mod.

Cart atm is a K2. aluminium mods to tone are were made by Gutty, don't know how many of you would remember him.

Sorry about the feet.

I recently made a change to my office system, substituting my Project Carbon Debut with an original Rega Planar 2 with a Linn Basik arm and a Garrott K1 cartridge. Very much enjoying the results in terms of aesthetics, sound and cartridge set-up.

Hi Steve,

Apologies if it’s a silly question, but what is the black protrusion sweeping across the vinyl and what’s its purpose? A brush?

Cheers

Is filled with a special fluid and the part on the front of the cartridge sits in it to help with dampening the arm vibrations.

That is cool.

One query, does this set up effect or complicate setting the VTF?

I recently picked up a nice Thorens TD126MK3 ELECTRONIC without arm from a SNA member, arrived in great shape, a credit to seller for his packing skill. a bit of cleaning and re-oiling, belt is still good (not expected). Found a SME 3009R from eBay US, cartridge is Lyra Delos, Ortofon LH-9000 headshell. Re-adjusted the 3 springs, now she sings like a bird ?

Nice combo.  I love SME engineering from that era especially,.  Looks good on the Thorens.

My Yamaha PF-800 with Ortofon 2M blue cartridge/ Schitt Mani/Sansui AU-505/ B&W CM1. I think it is a good combo for my small listening room.

I really like how Yamaha kept the styling consistent across all the models.  Here's my lowly P-17, and you can see the resemblance.

The P17 has the floating suspension and the auto stop which I like as I frequently snooze while playing records. The headshell is rare. I decided I will stick to this cartridge. When the needle dies, I will just get a replacement stylus.
