Our forum software that we use has undergone a major overhaul over the past 12 months. I was reluctant to upgrade until many of the inevitable bugs had been ironed out and after testing I am confident that it is time to upgrade.

This is a major overhaul. While functionality is still the same, there are new features, some deleted, other things moved around.

We have spent the past two weeks testing it on another server and tweaking it to look the same as the current software as much as possible.

 

We expect to update the software sometime in the next week. There will be some hours of downtime during this update.

 

History has told us that many here don't like change

 

We expect the new software will take some getting used to, and we do ask that you hold off your feedback for 24 hours at least. When it goes live there will no doubt be some small bugs that rest assured I will be working through.

 

If you've used it for a few days, and really don't like something, then please by all means reply to this thread with details of your browser (only after you've ensure you're using the latest version), and that you have also cleared your temporary internet files and refreshed the page a few times.

 

I will post again as we get closer to knowing when we'll flip the switch.

Please please please just don't do an Audiogon which lost a lot of they're customer base when they changed layout and really alienated lots of people.  That site still hasn't recovered.

 

We love what you've done with Stereonet just the way it is so if it builds on that then we will all love it.

The Purse Forum also had a lot of disaffected folks after a UI change, but I like to think us tech-savvie audio nuts are more welcoming of change (hint, hint).

Believe me we could have gone live two weeks ago but I'm ensuring it resembles the current UI as much as possible.

I too have been a member of a forum that went belly up after a UI change... the mere fact that this one is being announced in advance and is being rolled out in a considered manner puts you streaks ahead already. Good luck.

Not so, everyone here is a cutting-edge hipster. The evidence is the record collections, sorry, vinyl collections. Lovingly accumulated after vinyl became cool again, NOT because they all held onto them and hoped those funny plastic digital discs would go away...

The server might explode otherwise as it's flooded with threads about everything people don't like/understand and can't find

Leave it a bit longer and they'll work it out themselves.

I reckon if you could work out why the F, pics UL sideways in threads(FS mainly, obviously) you'd  have happy campers worshipping at the feet of SNA Man whoever that might be.

I don't suffer from sideways pics but plenty of numptys do.

 

Audiogon looked in the mirror and thought when your on a good thing lets wring it's little neck for everything we can get and now is bleeding badly from self inflicted feet injuries.

 

Forums keep this site alive so it'll be one little toe forward[test] and then another [test]...I'm not expecting to you to fark it up Marc or throw the toddler out with the bathwater. You and I both know that that particular toddler would spit his dummy and probably offer you the burnt bit of the Weber smoked chook...

The sideways photo thing is a weird one.

It happens on most forums....depending on which device was used to take and upload the pic, as well as which device it's being viewed on......and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.

Some people will say it's sideways on their screen while it's ok on another.....and so on....

I'll go first, Marc you duffer why did you go and mess up a good thing. I'm so annoyed that you've messed up the layout bloody hell, I'm joining whirlpool !!!

As long as its not like the DTV forum new layout which is even worse than their previous layout.  Easily the worst of any forum I have seen.

 

The best is still Steve Hoffman forum which you can view on laptop and phone just as easily.

Man I'm hoping you're planning to burn the midnight lamp and conduct this upgrade between the hours of 2 - 4 A.M...otherwise I'm stuffed...
