  1. Please find below the details of new date for our first Gold Coast Hi-Fi Clubhouse GTG which will now happen two weeks later on Saturday 9th October between 4pm and 8pm. Also below is a brief comment I made in the Club meetings section that has relevance here as well. "SNA and QAC members are welcome to attend the first Gold Coast Hi-Fi Clubhouse GTG on Saturday 9th October from 4pm to 8pm. The first of our GTG's will feature Fyne Audio's flagship speakers the F1-12's, my understanding is this is only the second time in Australia the F1-12's have been available to be heard, so don't miss out on this opportunity to hear Fyne's finest. On top of the F1-12's we will a pair of one of my favourites the marvelous sounding F-703's playing and their top of the line F1-8 stand mount speakers. Three listening rooms will be set up to show case the Fyne's. The plan at this stage is to also have a Zoom hook up on the big screen with one of the owners of Fyne Audio who will field questions and tell us about this young Scottish load speaker company. This is at this stage aimed to happened around 7pm (ish). If you are interested in coming along then please pm me asap as spots will be limited because these GTG's are run in our home and to make sure there is enough time for everyone to get a decent chance to hear each pair of the speakers in action there needs to be a cap on numbers. Drinks and snacks will also be provided. These days are not only about having a chance to hear some great gear but building a local audiophile community where like minded friendly Audiophiles have the opportunity in an informal setting an opportunity to meet each other on a monthly basis. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to find out more or book your spot."

  3. I believe it is a instruction/reminder to the Couriers to not try and split up the box and pallet into smaller stack able sections. Which is more than little bit scary that such obvious instructions like this have over time proven to be necessary. cheers, Terry
  4. Again lucky for me Simon from Heschl Amplifiers dropped in on the way home from work to assist in the unpacking of the F1-12's. Unfortunately the pictures I took were pretty ordinary but at least they provide perspective on the actual size compared to the F-703's which are not a small speaker to start off with. I will try various amplifiers and combinations of front ends and cables over the next few days to see out of the various brands and models of components I have here what I like most with the F1-12's. cheers, Terry .. ..
  5. I was into Black Russians when I was a youngen as well, then one night at a function I mixed Black Russians, quite a few, with a large plate of fresh oysters. I can vouch first hand that the two don't mix well. ... 😵 cheers, Terry
  6. Hi Bob, Personally I can only judge by what I heard which is it did make a difference, but as I said in my case not a positive one. I'll ask have you ever had a before and after listening session with a CD that was so called 'cleaned' in a Ultrasonic cleaner? cheers, Terry
  7. I purchased a Aldi CD US cleaner a couple of years back and tried it, did it make a difference to sq? To my ears yes, but mainly not a good difference, if anything nearly everything I cleaned started to sound a bit thin with less midrange compared to how it sounded originally, after cleaning about half a dozen CD's the cleaner was put in the cupboard never to be seen again. It might have just been my imagination about the difference to sq but after six odd CD's I wasn't prepared to go any further. cheers, Terry
  8. They look great, would love to hear them in action, the Gaia 1's made a the same improvements to sq with my 100's, but the Townsends look excellent in comparison. cheers, Terry
  9. Clubhouse GTG #1 ... Saturday October 4pm - 8pm. ...... FYNE F1-12 Queensland Debut. Unfortunately we have had to reschedule our first Clubhouse GTG for two weeks later, several things that were beyond our control unfortunately caused this to happen, I have apologies to those who had booked their spots and made them aware of the new date, if you are interested in coming along please pm me. Below you will find the original announcement. Gold Coast Audiophiles welcome to our first Gold Coast Hi-Fi Clubhouse GTG and in another first for us it will be a day/nighter starting at 4pm and going through to 8pm. We are also proud to announce we will have for the first time in Queensland a pair of the Scottish designed and built Fyne F1-12 flagship model speakers to experience in our main listening room, as well as a pair of their simply stunning F-703's as well as their premier stand mount F1-8's. I will be announcing further information about our first Clubhouse GTG over coming days along with details about a Zoom call that will take place at the GTG with one of the founders of Fyne Audio who will call in and will be on the big screen to answer questions and tell us about their flagship models. We will have drinks and snacks available on the day. If you are interested in coming along please contact me to book one of the very limited spots. ... cheers Terry. Below are a couple of pictures of the flagship F1-12's that we will have playing at our first Clubhouse GTG. Can't wait! . .
  10. Been a while since I listened to mine so for the sake of being a little bit more accurate I'll plug mine in, hopefully tomorrow, and get back to you. cheers, Terry
  11. Thanks Bill, hope to be seeing down here for another listening session soon when you are feeling better, or better still come down when your not feeling to well and I'm sure we can find a way to make you feel a little better. ... 😉 cheers, Terry
  12. It is a little hard to compare both as the Aries G1 is a transport where as the Altair G1 comes with an inbuilt DAC, both units serve their purpose and respective design well though as well as being well priced for the quality they deliver, I believe the streaming part of both is very similar in spec. So if you have an analogue set up and are looking for a digital front end then the Altair G1 is a very good option, where as if you have a DAC you want to use and are after a streamer then the Aries is the go. One other thing the Altair G1 does have the option to add a hard drive which the Aries G1 doesn't, the Aries G2.1 does though. cheers, Terry
  13. Hi Al, @Xecuter Great write up, very much enjoyed reading it and it put a smile on my face a couple of times to say the least. One thing you, more than likely wisely, didn't mention about last Sundays gtg was we both had pretty bad hang overs and we managed to achieve this separately. I was glad when you turned up looking a bit under the weather as I wondered what you would think of me looking a bit green. ... 😉 Moving on, yes I reckon you should drag your Rockna back down here for another session, by the way I have just updated the firmware on the Mola Mola Makua/Tambaqui DAC and man it is just sounding so very good with the 100 actives. Though next time it might be an idea bring your better half and then we can have a BBQ and enjoy a couple of glasses of good red along with listening to ATC's. For those of you who are into ATC's and or would like to hear them either for the first time or again and live in SE Queensland and or Northern NSW we will be arranging a couple more Saturday GTG's in coming months. I have actually just started a Gold Coast HiFi facebook page which I will also be organising these days through. cheers, Terry
  14. As many of you would be aware we have been having monthly Saturday arvo GTG's to audition new hifi components and have a general gtg for local audiophiles who want to meet up and listen to some good gear with other like minded HiFi nutters. To make this easier to organise I have registered the Gold Coast Hi-Fi Clubhouse name and have just started a facebook page which will provide a place for all local and want to be Audiophiles to find out about our gtg's. For those of you who are also on facebook here is a link to the page, please feel free to like and follow if you are interested. https://www.facebook.com/GCHiFiClubhouse/?notif_id=1631086354641672&notif_t=page_fan&ref=notif cheers, Terry
  15. A page for those who have been to a listening session at GC HiFi and would like to share their listening experiences. cheers, Terry
