You should put the pics up how you listen, it’s always good to see what’s actually going on. Like my wife always cleans up before people come over, why can’t people see how we really live?

I’ve taken the pics but for reasons best known to itself the app downloads them but won’t post them. Any clues anyone?

I’ve figured it out! I can’t take a pic of myself listening. I will have one taken by a guest tomorrow evening. As to “Because your guests don't want to know what offences you're committing..” the tangle of wires evident in the picture are normally obscured by the furniture I had to have removed to take the pics 😊

I should have included my ProJectJect vinyl washer and dryer. Vital to clean vinyl. I’ve always taken care of my vinyl and have click-free records I’ve owned since I was a teenager. I’m now nearly 70.

I'm 75 now.....no sign of dementia (my opinion) yet and hearing is in reasonable shape. No plans to stop developing my system......Interconnects and Speaker Cables (currently high quality Kimber Kable) ......new Wilson Benesch Precision 2.0 Floorstanders to be delivered soon......current Audio Research DSi200 Integrated Amp fine but keep spotting replacement options every week. SACD Player is an Esoteric K-05XD is excellent until Michael Marchant from AV Gallery calls about a deal to get me into a K-03XD Special Edition. My audio system has been in a state of flux for some time......"a system for my remaining life".......nah!!!

That’s probably true but I have 2 cartidges. If I have to buy another, that’s ok. It’s not going to fundamentally change much. It could even be better but by then my hearing might be such that I can’t tell. So far, so good. I don’t need hearing aids. My new AirPod Pros (that I only use for phone calls) do a hearing test and declared I didn’t need custom settings. I have a set of Stax Electrostatic headphones that are fabulous but I never use them - I don’t like the sound being inside my head rather than the more natural “it’s coming from over there” as it would be were I at a concert.

I’m 100% with you on this. No FLAC or similar in my house, just WAV thanks. Now be careful uttering such remarks around here, the digital army will get on the march…

Streaming, of course, is a different discussion - but I listen differently to streaming as opposed to SSD rips.

A lot will depend upon whether I get a better discretionary budget from a future sale of an asset.

On the topic of compression, my kids learned to extract money from me. I’d get home from work and there’d be music playing. I’d ask “what is this ****?” “Don’t you like my music Dad?” “Of course I’m interested in what music you like and why but this is MP3 - one of your friends ripped it for you - and I won’t have it played while I’m home. Here’s some cash, go buy a CD and then we’ll listen to it”. Fast forward 15 years and my son was going to DJ at his sister’s wedding. I got a furious phone call from my son on a Tuesday night - wedding on Saturday. “She’s given me the playlist as MP3s and MP4s. I won’t DJ with those - I won’t do it!”. Crisis was averted by getting full files - at some considerable expense and effort. lol - DJing was great. Probably my son and I were the only people who noticed the good sound :)

I don’t have any FLACS but agree they aren’t compressed. I love what my Channel D software does to 16bit 44.1khz CDs. It makes them sound almost analogue. After it’s up-ressed them to very high bit rates and antialiased the resulting wave, I bring them down to 88.2khz 24bit to listen.

Yes, they are. WAV are not. If you don’t want compression, then stick with WAV.
