I think my stomach would have dropped thinking the worst. Hopefully simple fix.

Get together time.

I should hold another get together before the hifi show so I'm thinking of holding another GTG on Wednesday afternoon if enough people are interested.

Hit me up with a private message if you're interested.

One thing I forgot for the opening post was a rear photo, and most people who come around walk around to the back of the gear to check it out, so here it is.

Man, I wish I only had so few cables in my setup. Tidy work. 👍🏻

I am very disappointed that you aren’t using cable risers though.

Plenty of room at Wednesday get together still.

Repeat offenders are most welcome to the GTG as well.

Unfortunately I’m pretty busy right now, but I’d love another listen down the track, maybe after the show.

More get together attendees tomorrow still welcome.

Would love to come by- I look forward to being back in Melbourne sometime and if the stars align I will get to come and hear that superb system.

Coincidentally, the sound here has actually further improved as I've gotten better phase alignment between the subs and main woofers, fixed the noisy left woofer ports, and have finally given in to temptation and put in the matching Wireworld Eclipse 8 interconnects.

May I ask what has happened here? Have you changed the software (Rephase) that you were using?

Thanks

Just retweaked the phase and amplitude settings of the subwoofers and rejigged the DSP to match, still using the same software.

Ah! Yes I see. Can I ask if you are maintaining the original philosophy of crankin' the sub output off the charts then EQing it all back down again - to ease the bass load on the speakers and achieving flat sub response down to insanely low levels?

Yes I am, but trying to ensure they are phase aligned when their amplitudes meet this time. It's taken a lot of experimentation since the phase from each is wildly different.

I still haven't plugged in the FIR box that I bought back in Feb, it now sounds like I might be in for even more brain strain than I suspected 😀

4 guests confirmed for this afternoon, cheese is coming to room temperature, valves are warm, glasses at the ready, and life is good.

Once again, the aftermath of a great get together. 6 bottles between 5 people may just be a bit much, especially when one person isn't a drinker. Note my glass is still full to bask in the afterglow after everyone's gone.

I can't recognise the bottle to the far right, Ittaku?

Was there a winner (not a sonic winner :))?

That's a B&G Reserve Shiraz (Pays D'OC) and alas didn't even get opened. Every wine was excellent but I would say the Pasha 2018 McLaren Vale Shiraz was the winner.

It was a charming group of music lovers that gathered with @Ittakutoday. Great to hear everyone's quality musical requests, supported by a superb 'house playlist' of stunning recordings.

I was so pleased to hear the results of the recent comprehensive room treatment, combined with certain bass tweaks.

Describing the 'before and after' at such a lofty level of HiFi is beyond my capacity but I still noticed differences, particularly with natural instrumentation. I had the impression that rendering of instruments in the lower register was more realistic, more believable, than I have experienced before.

To a greater extent than my last visit, I was 'stopped in my tracks' to appreciate drums in particular, not for their punch but for their timbral accuracy.

There were frequent pauses in the lively conversation, as we mutually stopped to appreciate spectacular dynamics and lifelike timbre. Such a system is beyond the reach of mere mortals like me, but what a thrill to have the chance to enjoy such, among friendly company!

Thankyou @Ittaku for your generous company once again.

Thanks again to Con for hosting us this afternoon. I had a great time listening to both familiar & new music as well as meeting like-minded fellow audiophiles.

Con’s system is probably the most even in tonality I’ve ever had the pleasure of hearing, and that means music of all genres sound equally uncolored and most importantly lifelike. Dynamics were effortless, detail was there but it felt like it was part of the music & didn’t call unnecessary attention to itself. Strings & wind instruments were extremely special, with the texture, tone & realism to spare! Being speakers which radiate evenly in all directions the soundstage was extremely realistic & stable everywhere in the room.

It was an amazing experience for me, especially with the quality company. This would be one that I’ll remember for a long time to come.

I’ll have to check out the Pasha. Looks like a great afternoon was had.

What more can I say, that hasn't already been said, Excellent system, magic room, & company too.

Thanks Con 🍷

Couldn't have put it better than the others have said. Thanks @Ittaku for letting us hear your wonderful system/room, letting us play some familiar tracks (Faith no More - Evidence was a personal highlight for me) and have great chats with other SNAers as well. Was a great afternoon all round!

Audio Research have just announced their 320M amplifiers which are the spiritual successors to my 250SEs, which are slated to have 320W. I'm guessing another 50% markup in price they way they did with all the latest series amps.

https://audioresearch.com/ref320m/

Interestingly despite not using valve regulation in their current lower models, they've gone back to using the 6550 regulation the way only their current top monoblocks get.

Quote

320 Watts
Auto-Bias
4, 8, 16 Ohm speaker connections
XLR and Single-ended Inputs
Tube Complement:
(6) KT150 Power Output
(2) KT150 Driver
(1) 6H30 Input
(1) 6550 and (1) 6H30 Power Supply

Now to wait till they announce the spiritual successor to the 750SEL; I wonder how big they'll be going? 960W? 100K AUD per monoblock by the time they get here?
