  • @brownemi dropped around for some tunes tonight. We covered Destroyer, Kurt Vile, War On Drugs, Ben Webster, Shining Bird, Cure, Massive Attack, Richard Hawley, Japan, Mark Hollis, Fischer-Z and Bad

I don't think you'll be disappointed Al, she has a fantastic voice and it's a great recording.

Norpus is probably listening to Kasey Chambers right now, then a little bit of Kylie, followed perhaps by some Milli Vanilli....................

 hehehe lets just hope he doesnt try sneak any of those on the next test disc ! hehe though milli vanelii is probably good for the blind testing sessions hehe

Hehe, fewww, i was sweating a bit there.

I actually am going to go against the grain here and say that I like Joss' second album just as much as the first.

Meshell is ok, i really like 3 tracks, but i think its a little to laid back for me today. Maybe on another day ill give it another go. I just chucked the Joss albums on for another run, and they really do sound great, good sound quality and good tunes.

Only with pegs on my ears Andrew

Actually listening to some bass tracks tonight - getting an IB massage - very relaxing

soul sessions has more in it that Mind body and soul, which lacks impact

Joss wouldnt be the first artist to stumble at the second hurdle...

personal prefence i guess.

I like her second album as its her own music and not covers. I like style of her jive..

been having a good listen to joss' soul sessions tonight. very impressed with the sound, must say. the clarity of the vocals is quite stunning. As is the nice solid sound. And I'm only listening here topping out at 60db here as pretty late. nice tunes. bloody hell ! the bass on track is amazing - floor rumbling when crfanked ot 70db ! hehehe

Blues Breakers - John Mayall with clapton...

G'day,

This Is Silver Ray by Melbourne trio Silver Ray. An instrumental combo (piano, drums, guitar) with most tracks around the 10min mark. Kinda like a more melodic and restrained Dirty Three with a dash of Twin Peaks.

G'day,

Bach's Art Of Fugue by the Emerson String Quartet. Bach's final composition, played a tad more allegro than some of the keyboard interpretations that I've heard, but just beaut.

I understand Eric has released quite a number of Albums. Is there any you can recommend? (Apart from the "Ship called Love "). I find the sound stage and stereo image on the track 10 on "Ship called Love†is so good that I can use it as a test track while evaluating components.

Cheers,

Spinning "Ben Harper - Both Sides of the Gun" as I am reading through the forums. Great 2 disc CD - very easy to listen to and great to chill-out to. I especially like Track 7 - More Than Sorry ... nice melodic acoustic guitar.

Right now I'm listening to some Boards of Canada (1996's Boc Maxima). Good relaxing music for warm weather, although their earlier stuff has the more percussive electronic sound which I don't favour as much as The Campfire Headphase.

I'm the opposite -- I much prefer Music Has The Right To Children and the earlier releases like the Twoism EP, to Campfire Headphase.

Right now I'm listening to Joni Mitchell's Blue, inspired by a documentary tonight on ABC2. Might even chase it down with Hejira if I'm still awake by then.

hi field, his altime favourite track of his is Where the green grass grows from "Good stuff" album. Another track which is a fav of mine is "I want jesus t owalk with me" about as roots-soul as it gets this ones from his album "spirit & the blues" interestingly both these tracks were what introduced me to eric bibb and heard on the opus 3 showcase sacd "depth of image - timbre-dynamics" and still remain the fav tracks of his that stick in my mind. Needed time is the other disc of his I have but not really listened to that enough to comment. :)

ok an admission

I bought this disc not knowign a thing about it,

http://www.amazon.com/Hey-Kandi-Kandi/dp/B00004Z3SR

but liked the look of the chick on the cover and it was a sacd.

wow what a soudn this one has !

she has a nice voice. and boy the music has some dynamics ! both top and bottom end.

and track 4 has this amazing very low bass that jsut sort of goes off and hovers    givign your sofa a bit of a shake up !

ok WARNING this music is not for everyone. if you like R&B/pop it might be somehtign for you. but your probably better off listenign in the like of borders before buying.

must remember to buy more discs with nice chics on the cover

G'day,

The platter du jour:

  • Rush - "A Farewell To Kings"
  • Jethro Tull - "Minstrel In The Gallery"
  • Steely Dan - "Two Against Nature"
  • ... and currently a trance remix of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" album. Imagine a someone playing WYWH on one turntable and someone playing selections from The Orb and Tangerine Dream on another, and you'll kinda get the idea of what this sounds like. Nae too bad, IMHO.

Hi Alebonau,

I picked up both "good Stuff" and the Sprit & the blues “album yesterday. The recording is superb. Yes, on track 8, “I want Jesus to walk with me†depth and the image is breath taking. Thank you for recommending.

Cheers,

Field
