Finally got the records in place. Big job putting backs on the Kallax and then hauling the lot downstairs then bolting them to the wall, levelling and aligning everything. My brother was a godsend. Hi

  • Ive finally taken some pics of the new beasts. Once again I find myself with an Aussie product that delivers so much. These are a prototype of the speakers being built for our SNA friend @mondie. Thos

  • Well. Holidays are drawing to an end and I’ve finally completed  the concrete equipment rack. Spent a couple hours cleaning contacts and components then installing them into the unit. I’m pretty happy

Finally pulled the trigger on a Pre. Thanks to @Grizzly for putting me on to this. The Bel Canto Pre2P. Just set it up today and still playing around with loading. Very adjustable and so far, very clean and revealing. This unit has had a rebuild with new high grade caps amongst other things. I was going via the Passive pre (Stereo Coffee) and phono stage route but this presented itself and after a bit of research decided that for around the same money, this satisfies my need for an upgrade to both pre and phono pre but in one, sexy looking, box. So far, very happy. Now that the system is “done”, I just have some paint, ceiling panels and concrete shelves to go before the room is finished... not long now! Cheers, M

Good work mate, they are supposed to be very nice units I’m sure you are going to love it.
I wasn’t that impressed with the SC passive, very good for the money though.

That is indeed a very sexy box! Nice one!

Nice one UM. Heard this a few times and indeed it's a good sounding pre with an eye watering amount of adjustability.

Bit of ceiling paint and new lighting before ceiling treatment. Much easier to find records now.

Progress is being made. Frames for the ceiling batts done, now just waiting to get the black batts to install. First concrete shelf poured and drying as we speak. Very nervous about that but with luck, it’ll turn out ok. Following a You Tube vid that seemed logical and reasonably simple.

Concrete’s drying and playing with stain for the supports. Should be freeing the slab from the form tomorrow. Very nervous.

De-molded and it’s come up a treat. Couple more days to dry and then I’ll finish and install.

I’m an immensely powerful man. Chuck it under one arm, beer in the other hand and off I go!! Thanks mate. It turned out beautifully.  Once I sand and seal it, it’ll be lovely.   Thankfully I have help from my neighbours. Cheers. M

The first (bottom) slab is in place now. Thanks to @Los for coming over and installing the ceiling panels. The room is sounding better again for this. Top concrete shelf is drying. It’s all coming together and the system is sounding superb.

Did you put any reo in that slab? Concrete by itself isn't very strong. If not, be careful not to put too much weight on it (Like human beings) and you're probably fine. It's got good support.

BTW, looks great

Yes mate. There’s reo mesh throughout. Strong as.
