How could anyone part with a NAD?

If you were really desperate for money and you'd already sold one of your kidneys it might appeal.

I will do everything to keep mine. The only way is you will have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. :)

@djb

Certainly there are fashions. I was happy to take a step up from my Thorens TD 160 mk ll and sold it here for a fair price, that now looks like a bargain price judging by recent sales.

Sennheiser 600, 650 and 800s keep popping up like accounting errors in a pollies' expenses claims!

The Lenehan ML1s seem to be up there, most listings seem to include provenance or it's soon commented upon.

There's actually only one ML1 in existence, it belonged to Mario and just gets sold over and over again

Cables, cables, cables.

Signal, power, XLR, RCA. You name it.

All of them are great and were going to change the sound dramatically (for the better).

Such great reviews everywhere.

Always sold due to upgrade to some other ones.

Our memories are short.

post modern hoaxes abound .

example

The Nad 3020, a model number they revived like bringing back a famous football players number for the boy from the bush was prone to burst into flames. . I was always looking for the mono switch to switch it into stereo.

@Telecine I couldn’t resist

Speaking of DACs, remember those Audio gd?

i remember they use to be bought only to be sold a few months later after the owner makes a raving review

I have one of them and do not plan to sell it any time soon.

I fix audio and a lot of gear comes through my hands.

This NFB-17.32 audio-gd DAC is the best that I have heard till now.

But then we all listen to different music and have different likes and dislikes.

ME amps, especially the ME25 pre.

True... but then there is another side to that coin too.

I guess popular doesn't always mean great or generally preferable performance.

I'd say many people hang on to the top gear... :D

Nad M51 DAC yes-not so nice sounding so that makes sense

I concur. Listened for 5 minutes. It went back into its box and back to whence it came.

There was a get- together in Perth that auditioned a range of DACs.It was generally agreed that the NAD sounded pretty crude compared to the rest.Which surprised me because some of the NAD CD players sound pretty good .

Squeezebox Touch? A lot bought, and a lot still being used. Back in the day they sold in minutes, IIRC there was even a thread on how to find the last ones in existence once production stopped. Has been appearing fairly regularly in the FS section lately as new things are tried.

I may have to grab another SBT at some stage.

How about most frequently advertised and not necessarily sold ?

Enter the wonderful Sonus Faber brand.

SF Cremona, the things are always for sale and everyone goes goo goo ga ga over their looks...but correspondingly there always seems to be some for sale and also those little SF standmounts the Cremona auditor I think they're called and several other iterations.

If they are so good why are they for sale on a regular basis?

Whereas Charios come up, umm, once as far as I know and the lucky bugger who got them is still here.

Look at these and weep for 3 an a bit K with the bloody stands. Sonus Faber? Lol.(by lol I mean a pair of the Auditors compared to the Chario...no contest is there).

Chario>>> have a squiz: https://chariohifi.com/portfolios/academy-sonnet/?lang=en

Deadset sex on a stick. Solid Walnut and hdf!            Phwoar!!!

Some for sale here>>> https://www.ebay.com/itm/CHARIO-ACADEMY-S-SONNET-NOCE-COPPIA-DIFFUSORI-ACUSTICI-DA-SCAFFAL-COD-/390587621332

Edit: 3.5K was the eventual sale price here at SNA. No idea what the buggers are worth now)

Haha.

I can't remember if I was the second or third owner of the ones I bought, but after I sold them (only due to needing the money, was perfectly happy with them otherwise) they seemed to have onsold at least 2 or 3 times after that.

And didn't the market for them die in the ****?  They practically halved in sale price in a couple of months.
