Well just seen the forecast for Saturday - 50mm plus of rain FFS !!!
Leak in carport roof on one side could be a big problem. (Rebuild on checklist)
Best we call it off for another day! [emoji17]

Nah what the hell , the show goes on right?
And I'll make sure I sit on the dry end.[emoji4]
And we have much to look forward to with delectable meats from the maestro@Tubularbells and Lamb Kofta from@illusion and sure some other tasty morsels from others coming along.

Have a few power amps to play with too so going to be a brilliant day.

Pfftttt, Melbourne whether forecasts. They can't seem to get it right for the next few hours let alone  a couple of days. I say man up and don't worry about your hairdo's potentially being messed up by a few drops of rain....

Well only less than a day till the big festivities - battened down the hatches in between heavy rain today and tomorrow is forecast to be worse!
Tarp installed to ward off worst of it.

Creek was up a tad too - whitewater rafting planned, bring your floaties!

Rain drops keep falling on my head...

And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed...
Nothing seems to fit...
Those raindrops are falling on my head, they keep falling...

So I did me some talking to Evilson

And I said I didn't like the way he got things done...
No sunshine today...
Those breadrolls got soggy...really bloody soggy...

Debating whether I grab an Uber or not so there car can be stuck in potential floodwaters instead of mine. Also means I can indulge a bit (and some of us know i do enjoy a beverage or three)

Too many reasons not to drive I can read in those few lines.
Indulge yourself, what's the worst that can happen right?
Photos and public shaming ??[emoji848]

Is there such a thing as a rhetorical debate...

Another excellent day with the Evil one as mein host.

No amount of rain dampened our enjoyment of the day.

Once again Tubularbells pulled pork won the day, simply awesome offering from Doug.

Evil's own asian fusion inspired chicken was delicious to say the least.

The Classe' power amp was on show which attracted varying comments, but once it warmed up certainly impressed.

Probably the only way to cap off the year in true Melbourne style is to damn the weather, spin a few tunes, try not to inhale too much smoke from the fire pit, lunch well, but watch out for the rapidly rising river - who would have guessed that Outer Syndal had a tributary of the Snowy Mountains Hydro outflow??

Many thanks to our hosts Mr and Mrs Evil.

Doug, the Bowie is 9" 20' long, Aussie and New Zealand only edition, no picture sleeve. I will leave it to you in my will, perhaps sooner.

Doug T, I tried the email, no luck. Just google "Peters Planets" and you will find the list of HOLSTs Planets recorded so far.

Mr Evil, the Donald Fagen was a knockout.

To those caught Shazzaming Snowy White - shame, shame shame. Ignorance is no excuse for not having this in your collections already.

Finally, remember to add your lists to the best of 2017 thread that Prof T started.

Billy.

thanks evilc, got there better late than never I guess and with gtg in full swing. I still got some pulled pork that was still mouth watering and that chicken though later in the evening was scrumptious... though off the fire would have been truly delectable am thinking :)

great to catch up with everyone. and loved the long evening of music and chatting all way through. intermingled with some amp comparisons :D and am sure glad i brought the melody back. it sure drew me back carrying its heft that just dragged me back into your house walking down that drive way so sure knew where was home ! anyways i think sure left yourself in a nice pickle choosing now :P

I like how the single malt slid in..

and nice way to end of the year, wishing all a merry christmas, and look forward to catching in the new year.

@Zen Mister will have to find that war movies thread as some interesting movies were being talked off

@Tubularbells now who would have known you were a sade fan ! look forward to hearing more of your collection !

Phew - 2 whole days of GTG'ing has finally come to an end!

Yesterday finally ended my blessed run of perfect sunny GTG days I've had in spectacularly gloomy fashion, with everyone sloshing around with water nearly up to their ankles.

Had many of the usual suspects here, and as shown above I had help from Sam the Lamb Kofta King @illusion cooking up his delectable meats over the fire!

Plus a mega quantity of the unfairly derided and sniggered at "Pulled Pork" from (pervy TB) @Tubularbells

getting excited by my bikini stubby holder!

Pervy @Tubularbells!

After seeing that disgusting pic of me tending uncooked meat , thought I'd better show an improved ready to eat version!

Surprise guest on the doorstep ,was none other than our illustrious leader !

@Marc

All is forgiven and absolved cried  @djb

And he leapt on the closest bottle and whipped it's top off in loving fashion!

(no matter he was drinking wine from a Whisky glass)

The feasting on many meats and a tiny bit of salad!

feasting_145644.thumb.jpg.001d5eeccd56d3692c7b5fdbed3699a3.jpg

There was some serious listening after lunch to 3 different amplifiers stacked up !

system_094421.thumb.jpg.e8746f042cd393c107e59ea871ba3be0.jpg

Had a motley crew on the listening panel

 (A few clowns - @Zen Mister & @Tubularbells

After starting with the Meridian 502 Pre / ME 550MK11 Hicap combo we swapped over to the Classe' power amp with the Meridian pre and after a brief warm up it was pronounced to be indeed very good!

Then late in the evening to complicate things, (read PITA over demanding guests) I was pressured to connect up the Melody integrated SP1 valve amp and this was also favourably given the thumbs up.

So evening extended well into the night with last guest(s) exiting around 11pm.(Yes name rhymes with @Martykt)

Must thank everyone for your kind contributions food, booze and company wise and let's do it all again very soon!

(at @Tubularbells or elsewhere)

Day 2

Time to relax and clean up after a hard day and night of partying right?

Wrong, a knock on the door around midday and who do I see standing there but a non- attendee from yesterday

@agelessgoodguy

'I'm here to party evil he cried"!!!

"But it was yesterday cobber I consoled" but come in.

So we cracked a bottle and sat down to a lengthy session playing some tunes !

ageless_135549.thumb.jpg.fa6319199923feae71582e418fba7f1e.jpg

Then it was into his compact rocket BMW for a terrifying journey to a winery tasting session!

5a23b729d4fba_agelesswino_144629.thumb.jpg.04ee604da5047b0efcafac74fefa0011.jpg

Then back to evil Springs for another few hour's listening and by

late arvo / early evening it was time to end a very enjoyable weekend!

Thanks for coming Ross , even if totally unexpected - was a top way to finish up! ;)

Haha nice.....Really captures the heart and soul of the day (which of course was all the delicious food and beverages) and in fact im enjoying a wee dram as we speak in honour of yesterdays festivities. Letting Uber do all the hard work for me getting me to and from the event certainly paid off and let's just say by the time I exited the evil's lair  I was in no condition to drive anything.

Oh yeah there was also a bit of listening going on as well and like so many others commented the gear is sounding better than I have ever heard it but personally I never did reach conclusion in what I thought was "better" being the Meridian/Classe setup or the Melody tube integrated. Both fantastic to these busted ears.

Looks like another superb day was had. I worked and came home to over flowing gutters, flooding myself with blockage from down pipes and a general sense of misery. Living vicariously via SNA. Well done Clive. You are the GTG meister. M

Well another "Evil Christmas" is done for another year !!

Thank you Clive for another successful and enjoyable GTG.

The wild weather couldn't stop what turned out to be a wonderful day.

As usual lunch was a veritable feast with delicious goodies from @Tubularbells, @illusion and some amazing marinated chicken made by 'Evil Santa' himself !!

A thank you should also go to Mrs Evil for her delicious salads and hard work during the day.

Later as mentioned a great listening session with some swapping of amps with the modest Melody tube amp taking the popular vote !!

Your system's sounding great Clive and is improving every time I hear it. :thumb:

Can't wait till the next event !!! :)

Don't mess with 'Evil Santa' kiddies.....

Wonderful photos to stow away as momentos  of a rather lovely day. In defence of Billy, whom I have only ever met briefly, all would agree he was looking emaciated and needed a damn good feed.

i slid away at 1700 with @Max054 unsuccessfully helping me avoid the puddles.

The flood covering the footpath still hasn't dried from my coat or shoes.
