IPA Recommendations Please

Featured Replies

I like India Pale Ale but find the American-style IPAs produced by most Australian brewers to be too heavy and malty for my taste.

Can anyone recommend an IPA that is lighter, crisper and 'hoppier' (ie: more bitter)?  I believe this is called the 'British style'.

  • I have had a lovely four-pack of these recently, in pint cans.   Firstly, all beer should be in pints. Full stop. Charge want you want bastids but have it all in pints and we'll work it out.

Holgate do a nice IPA (road trip), but if you like something less malty, more "hoppy" then go for the Mt Macedon Pale Ale - imo one of the best ales in Australia right now.

Try this brand. Absolutely superb. About $24 for a 6 pack from Dans

+1 on the Pirate Life.

Btw - Merry Christmas Alan!

Cheers, Dave.

Pirate Life hands down make the best IPA and IIPA in Australia. Not sure if they would be to your tastes though.

Vale IPA is pretty good value. It's a bit lighter, tastes great and you should be able to find it at Dans. There are a few others but I don't think you'll find them outside of SA.

Is that what the main character is making in "The Master" (2012)?

Coopers Sparkling is an English IPA I'm told. I find it quite a heavy drink. Alcohol is 5.8%.

Fullers IPA or McEwan's IPA

Has the alcohol content dropped? I thought it was more than that.
