That's a good pair of Okanui's . I haven't been able to find a pair of Okanui's for years.

Totally agree with the Luc, I had to bite my fingers a few days ago when a pictureless ad popped up and someone was trying to sell something for, lets say, north of $6500. I am wary of always being the one with the opinion so I let it slide but someone else only said it to the person anyhow, who eventually posted some pics.

This thread wont change aforementioned attitudes though, such types approach everything like this I am afraid. I wont be buying their stuff though, I know that. Good thread Luc.

  • yep if someone cant be bothered to take some decent pics and post them of the actual items for sale, not sure how they can expect anyone else to be even half bothered.    no pictures to me just tell

It's been mentioned before, this topic heading, and I really don't understand people's reluctance to post actual pictures of the gear they've put in the Classifieds.

I don't want to google your speakers, your whatevers, I wont to look at the actual item that you've got for sale, I honestly don't care if it's brand new in box never been opened...I want to see it in situ at your place. I don't care if it's packed away all snug and tight and ready for transport, you should of taken pics before you packed it. no I don't want to drive around to your place(yet) and look at it/test it(yet).

I want to see the back of them, the top, the sides, the innards(if possible)...in short I want to see as much as could reasonably be expected.

If one or two crappy fuzzy phone snaps is all you reckon your kit deserves  then I kinda think that lack of interest and detail might well show up in the actual kit so I'm not curious unless it's a ridiculously priced throw away get rid of quickly bit of kit and they dont happen very often.

If your asking serious money then pics are required.

No pics? I'm not interested.

This is just me, MPOV. so don't get your knickers in a knot if your from the no pics camp.

I use crappy opaque phone pics to sell my stuff, lucky for me you can't afford any of it. :P

Cheers Daz&Rob.

It's not a soapbox gesture just an awareness on my behalf(and seemingly quite a few others) that I'm not going to seriously entertain the idea of purchase of something if the buyer can't be bothered to post pics of their gear.

Look, I realise that if an ad came up and they were @  's TAD's that anyone entertaining the thought of purchase wouldn't really need a photo because your not going to outlay that type of dosh without a visit to the bridge he lives under and a good listen to his system and the same goes for other high end gear where we are talking many thousands of Aussie peso's or groats or whatever they call the worthless things these days. But to expect people to PM you about your 8K weird audio transmission line speakers in buckled mahogany without a picture of them is just plain stupid on your behalf, same goes for a pair of $80 Grados S1 that you promise have no ear hairs or ear wax marks stuck on the foam...

Addendum: I exclude @Eggmiester from this as he just recklessly PM's anyone anytime about anything, the man's craving attention...

* Just saw your post @ while finishing this one and the reasoning still stands.

Would you accept less, I'm prepared to do a sketch ; )

Is this still available?

Worst "for sale" thread ever.

Who's gonna buy a bunch of non existent, uninterested pics?

And it's posted in the wrong section of the forum.

Why not enforce that say images (min 3) have to be uploaded before a FS post can be submitted? No images, the submit button is disabled.

This wouldn't work where images are remotely hosted (as is the case with at least half of the for sale ads). It would only work for images hosted on the forum.

Ok fair point. What about parsing the body of the post to ensure it has a .jpg reference or link then?

Well I don't think the onus is on the site administrator to enforce a rule on people selling gear here, I'd not support it and I don't think Marc would want to go there.

The 'no pics' annoyance is my personal bugbear and obviously quite a few others here as well but it's also the vendor's choice not to post pics for whatever reason.

I just think they are doing themselves a great disservice by not posting ads showing their gear.

Price is certainly uppermost in most peoples minds but no matter what the price is your going to want to see what your thinking about and you don't want to bloody google them/it.

Like I said at the beginning I'm just not interested in ads that have no pics of the actual gear: Simple :)

No pics = no interest from me too. But it's also the quality of the pics. Bad photos, out of focus, upside down, sideways ??? -- put up the warning signs straight away. With modern cameras it's impossible to take a "bad" photo of a piece of audio equipment innit? or am i missing something... And it also displays a lack of care and attention.

.......and the other shockers for me are -- starting an ad with the words -- "Up for sale today" and "if you're reading this, you probably"  -

...and for the vintage pieces--  the overblown, overused, completely innapropriate use of the word "legendary" to describe any crap, rubbish 1970's receiver or whatever. Bloody hell..I could go on.....

Well go on then! We're all having a bit of a vent here. :)  I felt sure you were going to say:" and for the vintage pieces--  the overblown, overused, completely inappropriate use of the word "tubelike" to describe any crap, rubbish 1970's receiver or whatever.

Who would buy that

Maybe without a picture

Great Okanuis. :D

Another rant is putting an ad up and then disappearing for a week while peoples PM's and questions go unanswered. Hmm.
