I'm not sure which is more annoying; no pic's, or just a brand and model number with no mention of what the actual item is.

Surely one or two extra words stating what the item is is a lot less effort than taking and adding pic's? ;)

How good is this fresh ad in the FS section?

Tells you everything you want to know and also tells you the things that aren't mentioned; The seller cares for his gear, cares about making an effort, cares that he wants to sell the damn thing.

Kudos to @@oceangreen17

Item: 300B SET POWER AMP – CUSTOM HANDMADE BY MAXIUM AUDIO

Location: Randwick NSW
Price: $875
Item Condition: Good with minor wear
Reason for selling: Too many amps and this is just too good to leave sitting used!
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only
Extra Info:

This 300B SET power amp was custom hand made by Pierre Drion (Maximum Audio, Orange NSW). Pierre makes small numbers of custom amps and occasionally sells them on ebay or by word of mouth.

This is a one-off model based on a patented circuit design by Ari Polisois (French/Italian engineer) called Direct Current Modulated Bias. Essentially the biasing and driving of the 300B is done in the same action. The anode /plate of the driver is directly coupled to the grid of the 300B. In this design the output stage power supply is electrically stacked on the pre/driver stages power supply (350 v + 400 v = 700 volts).

This is a simple circuit designed to reveal the signature of the particular 300B used.

This was my first valve amp (2008) and has been very reliable and absolutely trouble free. It is a beautifully made and superb sounding. However, it does have a certain ‘science experiment’ aesthetic that may not appeal to some!

I preferred this amp to a number of valve amps I owned including a Audion Silver Night 300B, Golden Tube, and Melody. I have too many amps and it needs a new home. I may regret this later.

Supplied with:

2 x Sylvania ‘silver top /chrome dome’ black base, green label 6SN7GT valves

(Almost new around 10 hours use)

2 x TJ Full Music Mesh Plate 300B valves

(Around 350 hours use)

1 x set operating instructions

Specs:

Power Output: 7 watts 8 ohms

Tube compliment: 2 x 6SN7, 2 x 300B

Dimensions: 420 mm w x 320 mm D x 240 mm H

Weight: 23 Kilos

Please note there is no remote, or power cord supplied

Thanks for the encouragement @@Luc !  I actually love this old amp !!

I came across this thread after you just posted above and reading through members comments here I can't agree more.

I think @@bronal sums it up really well.

I am always more interested when a member makes an effort with photos and actually talks about the age, wear and general condition of item.

@Billy...@his alter ego @@Zen Mister

I considered 'rotund' but that was unnecessarily cruel I felt.

Back on topic for a sec.

I probably should of done a poll for all the people who don't necessarily feel like joining in on the argy bargy here at the moment.

But so far I'd of thought that the majority of players in this thread would prefer a For Sale ad to have; Pics, provenance, pre history, post history since purchase and as much info as is reasonably to be expected and sorry for the strangled alliteration in there.

A reasonable amount of effort brings it's own rewards in most things and no more so than a For Sale ad here in the classifieds.

Look at Victor's wonderful photos and ads or Pete Mac's detailed descriptions and any number of other sellers.

I'm not dumping on people doing there first time ads or special circumstace ads like in a bereavement ect, none of us should be declamatory in those circumstances but...

...those ads where people who should know better just don't ...it's their loss.

As I said I'm not interested even if I want to be interested if that makes sense.
