Zammo
And so it begins. Just a cave at the moment....
mikizee
As far as caves go, that's pretty cavey

Steam
If the system you install is as heavy duty as the walls this could be seriously interesting. It could also do duty as a nuclear fall out shelter.
Zammo
Bang a roof on it and you're done! The rock walls would make for nature's own diffusers Silty sand over hard silty clay fortunately (or the site works costs would have tripled!), so the blockwork walls a necessity. Will be topped by a bondek slab.
Zammo
If the system you install is as heavy duty as the walls this could be seriously interesting. It could also do duty as a nuclear fall out shelter. Three blockwork walls, slab reinforced concrete, all surrounded by metres of earth, and reinforced concrete ceiling. The wall leading out of the cave will be quietwave with a studiozone 48 acoustic door. Managing bass will be a major issue. Krispy Audio
Looks unreal. I aspire to build a similar room one day! What will your room dimensions end up being?
Zammo
Looks unreal. I aspire to build a similar room one day! What will your room dimensions end up being? 8m long, 5m wide. Slab has two levels with front 5m of room 3.3m high, back 3m at 3m high. Wife insisted we also build a house around the cave, so bedrooms bathrooms blah blah...not sure what else.
Krispy Audio
She'll probably want some kind of garden and whatnot. Sheesh.
Zammo
Block work almost complete. Waterproof, backfill, then bondek slab on top. Not too much action in the cave after that until towards end of build. Feels surprisingly small in there despite the 5 by 8 meter dimensions.
Telecine
It will no doubt feel quite large when it is finished.

Zammo
Will definitely be a good place to hang out come the apocalypse. Nuclear and zombie proof.....and acoustically well treated of course!
Kaynin
Feels surprisingly small in there despite the 5 by 8 meter dimension Funny how the feel of a room changes so much during each stage. Slab stage it feels large, walls go up it feels small, fit out occurs and it's large again!

Concept
Yes can't wait to see more down the track. You can always post your system setup ideas in the meantime, unless it is a secret of course.
Zammo
No secret mate, just haven't locked down exact models. Two channel will be active speakers from SGR (? MT series), with DAC duties from MSB. SGR will also supply subs and surround speakers - no idea in what form yet, but probably a step down from the mains. Probably get one of the newer JVC models for projection with a 130" CinemaScope fixed screen. Integra pre-pro should round things off.
