Our favourite gin is Tanqueray. Tried all (well, most) of the others and always come back to it.   Excellent product that help makes summer, summer.

  • Day off, made myself a Bloody Mary for breakfast. Because I can. After trying all different recipes, with horseradish and without, here's my tried and tested -    Large tumbler glass, loads of ice

cuba libre...

cuba-libre.jpg

easy...

Cuba Libre translated means “Free Cuba” and was popularized around the end of the Spanish American War.

This simple mixed drink is similar to a Rum & Coke, but the addition of fresh lime juice lightens up the drink and defines the Cuba Libre as a separate drink. It's an easy drink to remember and popular enough that it would be good to add it to the drinks to know list.

Prep Time: 3 minutes Total Time: 3 minutes Yield: 1 Cocktail Ingredients: Preparation:
  1. Squeeze the juice of half a lime into a collins glass.
  2. Add ice cubes.
  3. Pour the rum and cola into the glass.
  4. Stir well.

Can't beat my standard recipe for a good Margarita:

45ml triple sec (or Cointreau)

45-60ml fresh lime juice

Shake w/ ice, serve in a salt-rimmed martini glass

Yes, that's 3.5 shots :)

ooh like sounds of that. have all the ingredients. will try next time have the urge :D

ps looking at quantities...wow that would pack a punch hehe

Triple sec is much lower alcohol than Cointreau though, so it's probably only 3 standard drinks.

Yeah I'm sure you could go half quantities, but where's the fun in that :)

Also, don't have more than two!

well if she happened to pop over tonight, we're all out of "dubonnet" or soda for that matter ! hehe anyways got my curiosity now on what dubonnet is and where to procure some from :)

Dubonnet is an aperitif. According to wiki, the Queen likes to have one of these before lunch every day.

Dubonnet is basically the french version of sweet italian vermouth.

This cocktail is called a "Mule Kick" and tastes sensational - worked out the ingredients from a drink we had at a restaurant in Hobart  :D

Cut 1 lime into half and quarter each half (8 bits total)

Put 4 bits into bottom of tall glass and mash roughly to release juice

Add 1 measure (30ml) -Tequila

"       "                     "      - Kahlua

Fill glass with Dry Ginger Ale and stir

Also you can substitute Cola for the Dry

curiosity got the better of me….and ooh that was refreshing :) … I went with the ginger ale rather than the coke to top off. might try the coke next time around to see how that goes :) ginger ale brings a nice warmth to the throat and chest though :)
