Anyone else using E-cigs?

Featured Replies

Hi guys , my partner and I have started using Ecigs.

An E-cig is a device the vapourises a flavoured fluid for you to inhale . There is no smell , no ash and it is way cheaper than smoking.

The fluids can be bought in 100's of different flavours and can be Nicotine bearing or not.

Early days yet but the Tabacco flavoured Nicotine bearing liquid we are using is very realistic.

The major upside is that ,so far , Ecigs have none of the health problems  that real cigarettes do.

Thanks Al and AB.

My son bought some a few years ago to show off, guess what he doesnt smoke.  He saw Tom Cruise and i think Brad Pitt use them in a film. to him it was fun to show off that he can mingle with the rest of the smokers!

You tend to hang around more girls that do smoke!!!!

gordon are you using them as a way to give up smoking or as an alternative to real smokes?

i never tried anything when i gave up 6 years ago, cold turkey and have never looked back

Anyone who manages to stop smoking completely should be very proud of themselves it is the nastiest legal thing you can do to your body IMO (apart from other substances), it is so addictive, the tobacco companies make sure of that.

If you still enjoy smoking it makes it so much harder to give up, you and your partner are in for a hard road but it's worth it I wish you the best of luck.

I've lost 4 friends to smoking related illness's its a hideous way to die.

I must show this thread to Georgina thanks Gordon. I gave up years and years a go, like John A cold turkey - it was easy.

She on the other hand is weak and is still a slave to the Nicotine  (bloody expensive to)

Yes I am still on my ecigs for 3 years now. Just have to give them up some day too.

Tried to give up the normal cigs many times. These ecigs are the best thing to come along for smokers.

Same here and I don't really understand why people use all these alternate nicotine products.

You've got to man up eventually and stop taking the stuff.

Why put it off, withdrawal only lasts a week or two and then you can move on.

Cold turkey, yep, it's the only way to stop as statistics prove that when compare to alternative therapies.

It's not a case of 'manning up' no way at all, it's a case of making a decision that will be the hardest of your life(if your a smoker of course) and it is not easy, it's unpleasant and it does your head in but...once your free of it...holy crap it's a great feeling a really excellent way to feel. Your absolutely free of the muck and on the road to a healthier life and a lot of rewards, rewards that only an ex smoker can really appreciate.

I locked myself in the house and didn't go out forside for a week, no work no alcohol no nothing but the interenet and various quit communities who helped me everytime I felt the urge i'd log on and all these people would stir me on to get over it and I had a widget on my desktop that just ticked away 24/7 counting the number of cigs I hadn't smoked and added up the total money saved.

Add a countdown health sheet from VICHealth that listed all the benefits of giving up on a hourly/daily/weekly/monthly/yearly basis which I'd look at all the time(did you know that after 7 days free of smoke your lungs hairs called silla[?] start to regrow and push their way through the muck coating your lungs)..stats like that, nicotine is out of your system by 8 hours so if you sleep well thenit's actually gone each morning and it's your head telling you to light up.

Give em up Gordon(and partner) and you'll just feel the buzz that goes with being an ex smoker it's f'ing wonderful and I'm sure every single ex smoker here would feel the same way.

I have never been a smoker, thank goodness (best decision I ever made), but every person I know who has given it up successfully has done it cold turkey.

A friend of mine managed to stop smoking years ago using the hypnotism method. I reckon that the potential embarrassment of it not working after spending all the money is what did the trick.

Hi guys , we want to give up smoking but will be quite happy to 'vape' instead.

Vaping allows you all the health benefits of not smoking but still gives you something to do with your hands and mouth . I only tend to smoke when I am having a drink but we do have a couple of glasses of wine every evening.

I hate smoking around folk who don't like it so these e-cigs should solve that problem. No smoke , no smell and no nasty chemicals floating in the air.

Good work John. Cold Turkey is the only way in my experience. Anything else is just an alternative nicotine delivery system. That is, the drug companies are cashing in on the addiction.

Cigars are tempting, but for me, the desire to protect my lungs overrides the lust for tobacco.

After two attempts at hypnotism, I can confirm that your theory is probably correct. My problem was, that I could not let go of my conscious mind 100%

yea, i think fo rme it was a case i was smoking out of boredome only near the end.

If i kept busy, i wouldnt bother...

I would pop outside for a smoke, take a couple of puffs and butt it out...

it wasnt easy thats for sure, but i just told everyone i was going to do it, set a date, and went for it. Found changing your daily routine helped.

I also did it whilst i was on holidays, away from work, and other smokers.

Now i hate the smell so much i have no desire at all to ever want to smoke again, not even cigars which i loved

That's it! I was on holidays too. We had just arrived in Hobart and I was hit by a massive attack of bronchitis. Scared the crap out of me. My Grandfather was suffering emphysema at the time, since passed now. What a wake up call. It was just what I needed at the time.

I suppose it works for some. I recall a short story by Stephen King entitled "Quitters Inc". Might be worth a shot.
