It's great you enjoyed it Al.🙂

It's just unfortunate that it is now made by a Japanese owned company.

thanks Rantan, was very refreshing 🙂

having worked with the company in years gone by, still interacting with folks in current day ... have some insight...

it probably hasnt been in safer hands to be honest. local aussie ownership nearly sent it under. very dark days .... only worse was the more recent south african ownership....now days its steady as she goes ....

foreign ownership is a bit of a given now days unfortunately .. both the big brewers are that way now...

its a god brand Neo. so something they dont meddle with ... the taste.. bottle branding bottle etc...and its all local ingredients things like australian grown malt, pride of ringwood hops are all iconic....

Something a tad more robust and flavoursome, to celebrate Australia day!

My absolute favourite is the Duvel. I will never get over how good this is. Been in absolute love for 15 years.

Would have some every day if it wasn’t so unhealthy.

The ones that came closest to it were La Gullotine by Delirium and Lucifer by Het Anker, but they just don’t compare.

Wife and I out celebrating 35 years of married bliss. Thought Id bless the occasion with an untried beer. As Im opening the can I heard myself saying “please be beer, please be beer…” The label may have indicated something else or fruit mixed in beer. Not for me.

Not only was it beer but very nice beer. Worth a try.

Congratulations! I'm two days away from 15 years. A fine drop on a fine day.

Cheers,

Have you tried the beer?

Unfortunately no, have never seen it before! I wonder if it's a local thing...

Lately I've been getting my brews by the keg at our neighbourhood's U-Brew It. Their recipes are really good.

I think it a yeast choice to give a very slight “fruit” taste. For me, number one, it has to taste like beer but a slight deviation from that is fine.

It's the choice of hops, and how the hops is used. Basically in the summer ales, and tropical style ales, there is less bittering effect of the hops. The more/longer hops are boiled, the more bitterness is extracted. So get big fruity flavours you select the right style of hops and use lesser amounts boiled at longer times, and more hops boiled for lesser length of time, and also dry hopping where the hops is added to the cold wort.

Here's a basic guide for different fruity hop styles:

I use to drink in a micro-brewery in Melbourne who produced a beer that tasted like bananas. It was very pleasant and not over powering.

From our Scottish upstarts Brewdog, they have a Brisbane brewery nowadays.

a mighty good drop, hoots mon! Too right mate!

Brewdog Red Ale

<American Red Ale

This five malt, 5% red ale hits the big time
with a five-stong dry hop regime.
Berry and citrus collide with caramel and
biscuit.
Spiced marmalade jostles with chocolate.
This is a structured symphony of malt and
hops, in our take on the most modern of
Red Ales. >

Still some around in selected Aldi stores

4 x 375ml cans $14.99

regards Ian

Attended the Coopers Vintage release a couple of weeks ago. Always a great afternoon. This years vintage is very drinkable right away. Not as bitter as some of the last few. Get on it!
