Too old now for Mullumbimby madness

couple of serious coffe stops there great pizza and a good but limited menu of Asian type food on Wed Thurs Friday nights where we were last night

and a seriously good bakery if you like sausage rolls or more delicately tasty tarts

(tarts as in cakes)

I think I'm up in the hills somewhere working on a mega mansion for a German couple so it'll be homemade sangas for me. Mullum madness is not for me anymore either. I'll have to have a listen to the Crosby album.

Another mixed bag from the 70's......

I just wished that more young people (like my son for example),  would have a listen to this type of music instead of dismissing it out of hand altogether. My slightly older step son will only listen to this type of music so at least there is some gratification there.....

The weirdest thing is that, hey, the younguns just might get to enjoy it!

Hi

You're a man after my own heart, a great mix there, and yes there is not enough 'duff duff' there for the youngins ....

Actually a lot of the great music of the 70's was a reaction to how awful young people thought this type of music was

goes without saying I agreed

they formed their own bands and rediscovered rock n roll and short sharp songs

i would hate to think that young people today would go backwards to that sort of music

im very out of touch with young rock n roll bands today but my guess is that they are still out there plugging away for small audiences and in no danger of ever being famous

such is the power of dull music to rule the airwaves

one of the problems with people my age in the 70's was they were stuck in the 60's or radio dominated by not much and never went looking for some of the best music ever made

at least part of the reason for the success of import record stores in the 70's was that so much great music was being made in London and New Yorlk but not released here

it was a great time to be a believer in rock n roll but not for those records

I recall hearing Cream / GFR / Santana on the radio a lot but as those stations / disc jockeys in the day seemed to also like a lot of what was being released in the late 60's / early 70's, they were more than happy to keep them on high rotation. If they genuinely like the music themselves, it stands to reason it will be heavily supported and promoted to the youth of the day. There was a guy from America called Casey Kasem who used to heavily promote the music of the day and held a heap of count-downs of the top 40 / top 100 / top 500 songs to the delight of the masses. He was very influential in his time. A lot of these excellent bands would consistently appear in these top lists of songs until the mid 70's.

I kept listening quite avidly for many years until the disco revolution killed it dead. That's about when I turned the radio off and went on a vinyl buying binge for the next three hundred years or so.

Never looked back really.....

COLDER - Heat      2005 album from  Marc Nguyen Tan.  Think German electronic with a French darkness of starkness dripping all over it. Truly awesome tight bass dynamics.  Bloody brilliant album.

youtube Wrong Baby for a treat.     Just ordered his latest album.

King Crimson - Red -- the opening and closing tracks ("Red" and "Starless") are objectively The Greatest King Crimson Tracks Ever. A bold claim, but it's a scientificamic fact.

Hi

My personal favourite KC album is Lizard, with a fond memory of walking down Bourke St in late 69 early 70 and hearing In the Court of the Crimson King being played, that made me stop and listen to the whole of the side being played and then purchasing it, and becoming a fan of their music. Robert Fripp being one of the most underrated guitarists I have heard....

This one does work as a complete album IMO. Just as well as Ozzmozis. I reckon from that time on everything went a bit downhill for Ozzy.

Some Stones tonight
