Back in the good old days

The 1970’s when the rock n roll World was awash with great bands

and recording studios employed producers who knew how to produce and knew they weren’t more important than musicians

Lot of sound here right across between the speakers

Another great band from the 70’s

This song Lady Stilleto is about Patti Smith

before she was “ Patti Smith “ so to speak

very literate writer in love with the romance of poetry rock and roll and the 1920’s Paris scene with Hemingway F Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda

even has a song about dancer Isadora Duncan and believe it or not Eva Braun

like a lot of  great music in the 70’s Muck to good to be popular

I can’t sing but when I was sure no one could hear me I used to sing this

But if there is one thing I’m sure of

I’ll never be as old as you

Of course now I’m older than all the people I used to sing it about at that time

Never would have believed it then

And then there is this band

Another secret from the 70’s

I missed em the first time round and learned about them reading about The Clash and assorted bands from that time

i did manage to see David Johansen and Syl Sylvain At seperate times in New York and Johnny Thunders in of all places Coolangatta

One of rock and rolls greatest ever bands

lots of roll in the New York Dolls

The Johnnys did a great version of this

Complete with a great video

Come back Spencer

Australia just doesn’t have enough rock n rollers

And I once heard the Hoodoo Gurus kill it as an encore

All were  New York Doll fans as were Television Talking Heads The Ramones The Clash and countless other bands

Alejandro Escovedo referenced them on his 2017 record of twin guitar 70’s rock n roll
