  • Here's @SimonS wonderful curated room and system - a joy to be in and to listen to.   Hope you enjoy this brief tour. Thanks again Simon for sharing with us all.  👏

  • I’ve got a record collection  whoops forgot the stereo

If you do come to Canberra, I have a spare room fully decked out that would also allow for a visit to @Sime’s as well as a window to my (self quoted) small but well curated collection.

The what and why of record obsession is always more interesting than formats or systems

Thats why the video was so interesting

I doubt either of us are moving, so consider it a standing offer.

Doug Part 2 - The Church and the Towers of Power debuts now.

We continue our time together, touring through his audio setup and his speakers.

Apologies for the patchy quality of the audio throughout - my fault for not mic-ing Doug properly during our interview.

Really enjoyed the session and stories about the record collection with Tubularbells. I’ve got a very eclectic collection(about 3000lps) across opera, classical, Jazz, folk, blues, country, rock etc. Have no idea what metal/ heavy metal is or sounds like, but the video has intrigued me to explore!

Congratulations and thanks to all those who put the video together

IF you'd like you and your collection to be featured, give me a hoy?

Great work @candyflip, it’s a fantastic project and thanks @Tubularbells for sharing your awesome room with us!

Hey everyone,

I'm beginning filming a new Stereonet TV video show in very early 2020, called 'Watts Good' and it's going to feature SNA member's systems and record collections.

As I'm a vinyl nut myself, I'm most interested in the vinyl collections of course, but killer audio systems of any kind are also going to be a key feature of each episode.

This is an early call out to our many member strong Melbourne and Victorian community to get in touch with me, either here in the thread or by PM (or both), and express your interest in participating.

Not comfortable in front of the camera?  No problems.

You can choose to either appear or not, as much or as little as you feel you want to.

Prefer to have it go like 'Lifestyles of the Rich.....' instead... all good.

Or you've always dreamt of having your collection star in the limelight, but you'd be totally removed: also fine.

Hit me up with your thoughts and let's get your amazing gear, and/or collections, out in the best light(ing) for all to see!  :)

Just had a fantastic time with David looking through his incredible system, and all that VINYL !  :)

3 parts to come - 1 covering all the gear (coming first), then 2 more whole parts on his deep jazz and classical wax collection. This time I really try and get all the good stuff on vid...less talk, more albums.

Part 1 due tomorrow (Sunday)...the others shortly after.

Could I ask you to also please leave one Like on YouTube itself, if possible?

I don't get paid for any of these vids and they take a *lot* of work, so your support is the most appreciated thing.   :thumb:

The link is above.

You don't have to watch it again - just leave a Like, or even Subscribe if you feel like it.

And if you'd prefer to dislike it, or a comment, that's OK too... it's all feedback I need to hear from our community, about what to do in the future.  ?

cheers

saw it yesterday....a true high end audio nirvana.

Those Shindo kitted out Garrard 301s -wow- , not to mention the rest of the gear.....

@candyflip @demmauhong

thank you for making this video guys. I enjoyed it very much and hope to listen to the Tannoys one day!

@Tubularbells thanks for sharing your vinyl and gear mate. One of my personal joys in this hobby is also seeing how other people appreciate their music. I too can relate to every album I have - what I was doing at that moment in time and who I was with....It is an absolute time machine for me.

Liked on YouTube but man whats not NOT to like here. Blimy if I had all that gear id be permanently in analysis paralysis and would never know which gear to use let alone what to play.....Well done @candyflip & @demmauhong ?

Love the YouTube clips @candyflip! More more more!

@Tubularbells Doug - those Cassette mixtapes you have kept made me pine for mine, i used to have a tape ready to go on the parents kit if a song came on that i wanted to record. Classic!

Totally agree with @jgunner and yourself about remembering where/when/who/why albums are in the collection (and people ask me why i have kept my cd's...duh! Well, let me tell you a story......)

@demmauhong - so good to see that system(systems!!)/room/man-cave via video. Just love that its not just your mood for a type of music but also the mood for a particular sound/components/speakers.

StereoNet really is pretty awesome ?

Part 3 of David's Man Cave (and the second and final part of his vinyl collection) coming up Sunday evening.

We flip through 150 or so of his Swing, Easy, Classical and Jazz records and see what's what on the block.

This morning we continue Part 2 of the visit with David in his Audiophile Dream Man Cave and take a further detailed look at his excellent Jazz, Swing and Classical vinyl collection, with some more beautiful Japanese & US originals.

Jon, if you ever end up in Sydney I would recommend a video of Hensa’s man cave and stunning record collection, now that is truly impressive system, especially his collection of stunning turntables.

Cheers,

Terry

Thanks Terry - Sydney and Canberra on the list so far.

My stepson lives in Canberra - so that's always a possible destination per year (and now I have another excuse!)  ?
