Just wondering if any of the electrodudes have a copy of the brilliant Mark Shreeve album, " LEGION". I can only find an mp3 download, which is better than nothing, but I would kiss any nominated body part to get a quality burn of it, from cd or vinyl.

ZM.

Hopefully this helps. The vinyl is cheap, but the cd is expensive.

Now this is something to grab ASAP...

A new Hidden Orchestra album has been released for sale via dd, cd and vinyl.

Same, same but different. Their jazz tronica is still built around two analogue drum kits but there are some new artists making an appearance. Still sultry and oh-so-cool, but dare I say it, perhaps a little less sexy and a little more cinematic than Night Walks. Still, it is good enough for me to grab the limited editon clear vinyl and a cd copy as well.

thanks for the heads up Vitruvian - I purchased Night Walks based on the recommendations in this thread and really enjoy it. I think I will go the standard vinyl and avoid the "uber limited' clear vinyl.

Dub Sahara/ Turquiose Noise/ Self Released

My current favourite album by miles - the only album I have played twice back-to-back this year other than Pseudollectual. Super-phat and very intelligent down tempo/ world music/ deep deep/ dub step. A sonic degustation is presented; one that will dazzle your senses and leave you quite possibly a little stupified.

The production is exemplary, the aesthetic is space is deftly held and masterfully evolved. If you are going to humour me and give one of my recommendations a listen every three months - then my vote goes to this album. Best obtained in FLAC and consciously engaged with at your reference level to fully appreciate the bass management.

Also grab 'Gnosis' while you at it (and hear more Greg Hunter awesomeness)....

A great new release from one of my favourite labels, Aleph Zero. A reissue of Ooze's masterpiece "Where The Fields Never End" on Spirit Zone with a 2nd CD of remixes from artists such as Bluetech, Koss and I Awake. http://alephzeroreco...mp.com/releases

My copy arrived in the mail. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

You are welcome, even though you saved 2.50 pounds buying the non-uber limited edition, I still hope you "uber enjoy" it.

I received my parcel from England yesterday. I haven't opened the clear vinyl plastic seal yet, waiting for a quiet moment. But, I did give the cd a spin. Joe Acheson is a genius. Easily my fave nu release of the year. Sublime compositions played by ultra sympathetic musicians, sumptuously recorded & produced.

Yep, I like it a lot & that's after one spin of the cd. It's gunna completely wig me out when I crank up the vinyl :D

Thanks for the info re these two releases. I really like the tribal dub sounds. I recognise GH from a couple of Dakini comps.

I am having trouble finding a link to purchase these albums. The links above all seem to lead to Flattr - which is great, happy to Flattr but wouldn't mind the tracks! :)

Any idea where to download? Juno and Beatport only came up with his compilation tracks.

Cheers

Sorry for that. I know there is a place where his music can be bought. I my haste to post the link it was not the right place. I will go on the mission and let you know once I have it sorted.

Glad you have enjoyed these releases. GH is Australian, but has never played here. Only in the UK. A friend and I thinking that we may start to pool some funds and have him play here sometime next year.

I'm really enjoying "Are you Shpongled" on vinyl. Less eastern influences than their later releases. What else might I like, being a newbie to Electronica?

Cheers

Here's a start:

Entheogenic - Spontaneous Illumination:

Not on vinyl but CD available at http://universalsymbiosisrecords.net/usr_shop/product_info.php?products_id=30&osCsid=498253f3bfb452890c3f397beda29cbf

Beautiful lush psychill. Excellent production. Just dug it out - listening now. :)

+1

I also like their self-titled album very much. Flight of Urubus is, IMHO, by far the weakest of the bunch and not worth getting.

I've never been an avid listener of electronic music, but I recently discovered Squarepusher which has gone a ways to changing that! Great stuff, I particularly like Big Loada.

He's an awesome bassist too. Do some YouTube searching to find some of the fastest, funkiest and freshest slap bass ever - think Bootsy Collins on crystal meth

I think I read somewhere that he did a whole album of solo bass, or at least featured it as the lead instrument. Will have to suss that out. As a (mediocre) bass player myself, I can definitely appreciate good bass playing.

Edit: just youtubed some of his bass playing. Very, very impressive. Certainly a talented lad!

I haven't listened to this, but I did listen to Gaia Sophia on MOG yesterday:

It was okay ... for that kind of style (ear-candy chill with some world beats) I much prefer Makyo or ISHQ or Padmasana (or just about anything on the Dakini label).

... and now I return to one of my favourites:

Various Artsts - Eclipse: A Journey Of Permanence And Impermanence -- a fine collection of ear-candy, heavy on the psychedelic dub. Starts off with a monster 20 minute track from Shpongle (although I always give the first couple minutes of flutey noodling a miss) with an awesome snaking bassline in 7/8.

Loops Of Your Heart - And Never Ending Lights -- this is supposedly the same dude behind The Field. Different approach here, with none of the usual gated synths and Kate Bush samples, but more of a homage to old school 70s Krautrock, with some distorted guitar, reminding me somewhat of Tangerine Dream's Stratosfear in places.

Nice one. I listen to this from time to time. 'When Day Turned to Night' is also the track that Simon Posford classifies as his greatest accomplishment.
