Need inner and outer sleeves

Recommended Posts

Where's the best place (online please) to buy good quality inner and outer record sleeves. There's many different ones out there but I don't want to learn by trial and error.

Don't want to spend a fortune - just after good quality, well priced sleeves and hoping to get advice from those who have gone through this before.

I've tried man different types but for me now I wouldnt use anything else but these:-

Outer

https://www.dutchvinyl.com.au/products/record-outer-sleeves-crystal-clear-blake-12-10-7-sealable-option

Inner

https://www.mofi.com/product-p/omrs.htm

I like the look of these crystal clear sleeves but was told by some one else who used them that they tend to split on the seams.

How long have you used them for and have you found that they split?

Ive only had one split, but that was my fault rather than the sleeve. I was trying to put the new Queens of the Stone Age album (which in itself is a thick as a 4xLP), into one of larger sleeves. Kinda like a square peg in a round hole.

Overall, love them, just bought another 400 on the weekend...

I get them from Elusive Disc - I use a 3rd party shipper (Shipitto) http://www.elusivedisc.com/Inner-Sleeves/products/377/ and overall they are about 1/2 price compared to most suppliers.

eg.  MoFi inner sleeves are about $1 each normally.  The USA shop does 50 for usa$20 = 50 for aus$26 = 52c each.

I recall once shipping done, they maybe work out to about 60c each?  Also an excuse to get other stuff at same time!!

Aren't the MoFi inners out of stock at Keiths ?

Hi Grumps, you are correct and we aren't holding stock of MoFi Inners anymore, but I'm happy to order these in for StereoNET members or for long time loyal customers, as I still do for John @scuzzii and others each month. Catch is, that you might have to wait a few weeks for a shipment to arrive, but I'm typically ordering at least once a month.

Cheers,

Keith

Outer sleeves

I have used both of these.

Ultimate Outer 2.5 (50 pack) are really nice, crystal clear and light weight.

Ultimate Outer 5.0 (50 pack) are also very nice/clear and easier to use because they are thicker. But after some use they start to fog up a bit due to rubbing against each other. The thinner 2.5 ones don't seem to have this issue.

Both provide good clearness and slide factor is good. Some of those cheapies on fleabay grip each other which makes sliding albums in and out of shelf a chore.

Both types can be expensive to buy in AU but much cheaper from USA if you can find a seller with reasonable shipping cost. I purchased a heap of them with a bunch of records from Acoustic Sounds a few years ago when the AUD was equal to USD. Should have got more of them at the time.

Decibel in Brisbane stock both of these but they are pricey from him, but good to get a small amount to see if you like them.

See http://www.decibelhifi.com.au/9224-ultimate-lp-outer-sleeves-2-5-25/ $29.70AUD for 25

and http://www.decibelhifi.com.au/9380-ultimate-lp-outer-sleeves-5-0-25/

USA supplier http://www.sleevecityusa.com/ultimate-outer-2-5-pack-of-50-p/9224.htm much cheaper $12USD for 50 but add shipping.

Inners

Depends what you prefer.

Just normal poly bag with rounded bottoms are OK and are a reasonable weight, so not too floppy.

These are very cheap http://www.decibelhifi.com.au/glide-anti-static-round-bottom-inner-lp-sleeves-25

BUT they are made from a flat tube of poly and to get the rounded bottom they are heat welded (not moulded) so have a rough edge on the outer of the rounded bottom. Also they seem to be hand cut so size (depth) varies and some have a jagged cut edge which looks sloppy. But if cheap is what you want these will do the job and the few that are badly made you can just throw out.

If you like nice inners then DO NOT get the above.

Many people swear by the Diskeeper inners and that is what I would go for next time.

Paper outer with label hole and poly liner are the nicest IMHO.
