end of week listening session last night.  Nice wine and excellent music.  We are so very lucky compared to many others around Aust and Globally at the moment.  (Well I feel I am at least).

I saw a sale through the week of Angus and Julia Stone - so I spun my French release (clear) and wow, it is quite special indeed.

@needlerunner  put me onto Anathema and I grabbed a few of their vinyl releases.  Boy, this is a great album, both female and male vocals are outstanding, great pressing as well.  Cheers for that!

Other new arrivals this week were JJ Cale - go and grab a copy of this if you like his music.  Very good SQ and the live performances are great. One for you @cheekyboy

Ben Harper was warped, but from what I could play, this 45rpm re-issue is a killer.

Got into some Stone Temple Pilots as well, much to the displeasure of my wife (however, dinner was cooked pretty quickly after the 2nd of their albums went on.....  ?).  One of my all time top 5 bands.  I rate them above Pearl Jam and Nirvana.

and a release @Soundscape put me onto, Fire! Orchestra.  Dynamic and fantastic sq and music.

Thanks John. I have all the Anathema albums on high rotation at the moment. Seems like they are my favorite band at the moment. Every listen is a new revelation (could be the red wine though).

My PMC speakers really really do like female vocals.

Another band you may like ( based on your previous playlists) is a band called Pineapple Thief. Stream any of their albums. I think you will like them.

And one more Janet for the arvo.

Janet Jackson

Rhythm Nation 1814

2019

US

I read on Discogs this is the best pressing of the album ever!

I do not have the original to compare it to - but the comments on Discogs are spot on from others that have all the other issues to compare to it.

The sound stage is wide and airy & the album feels so "in the room" with you.

I first put it on and thought it was lacking, but as soon as I cranked the volume up, it came to life - sounds incredible.

It is rich and beautiful and no issues at all. Perfection.

I would say it is one of the best sounding albums in my collection - would be in the Top Ten.

She has a pretty good voice

Have one of her albums

The one called Control

https://www.discogs.com/Janet-Jackson-Control/release/3499051

I never got into Janet's earlier things - but I have that winging its way to me from UK - a  Limited Edition Black Label German pressing, so hope it sounds good, supposed to be NM - fingers crossed.

I actually love her later work more though - Damita Jo, All for You & Unbreakable are great albums..............

only thing I hate with that time period is that it was trendy to have those stupid spoken interludes between some tracks......

Glad you have some Miss J in your collection though, she is very talented and under-appreciated I think.

Icehouse - Man Of Colours

Outstanding album. "Crazy" and "Electric Blue" were the singles from this album, but my favourite song was easily "Heartbreak Kid".. Great ballad and perfectly sung by Iva Davies.

I think the story of that album is

Janet broke away from her farther and his management control and also the shadow of her brother Michael

So this is her first album that she had full artistic control
