  1. Factory terminated 3 meter pair of Chord EpicX. I have tried lots of speaker cables, many that were more expensive however, I kept coming back to this pair as they are tremendous value for an entry to mid-tier system. Additional information: https://chord.co.uk/product/epic-speaker-cable/ Current recommended retail $1250
  2. Further Information: Tellurium Blue speaker cable was designed to be the companion to Tellurium Q Black and has been described as having great detail and phase control but is less revealing of a system than the Black. An excellent cable for the money.
  3. Further Information: The length is 1.5m but end to end is 1.6m. I used them in my mono block setup with beautiful . It’s time to let it go. Or I can swap with Argento Master Reference Power Cord. Shipping is included in Australia. 4. Item: 5m Canare 4s11 speaker cables, with jumper leads Price Range: Free, but buyer pays for postage if shipping is required. Item Condition: Used; purchased Dec 2020 Hi, here's a 5m pair of Canare 4s11 speaker cables, terminated with banana Z plugs. Plus jumpers with spades on one end and the same Z plugs on the other. Yes, these are Bill's Boutique cables (which is why I am giving them away rather than selling on this forum) and yes I have checked with admin to make sure it is ok to list them here. I have no reason to believe these are anything other than real Canare cable (what I asked for), and they appear well made to me. I have never had any problem with them; I upgraded cables and these are now surplus. Pick up from West Footscray, or I will post at the buyer's expense.
  5. Any old excuse for a Poll. It's just been too long. I made myself some RG213-U speaker cables long ago and used them on and off until now they are a bit frail and their terminations (serviceable but not great to begin with) and now getting fairly ratty. So, since I no longer have access to a decent shed full of tools I asked Geoff of Aurealis audio to make me up a set, and he did. Of course he used higher quality spades and bananas than my original pair and added some nice looking braid as well, so my new pair is much nicer to look at than my old pair (which is soon to be recycled for bits). Nicely finished. And labeled too. Fancy! What's that, you want to see a pic of my old pair. No, you don't. You really don't. Trust me on this. The reason I built a pair of speaker cables out of RG213-U in the first place was that it was touted as the lowest inductance cable that you could get your hands on at a decent price. And for speaker cables inductance is an important quality, so I bought some and put a pair together. Their performance was good, often not noticeable as better or worse than any of the other speaker cable pairs I have had... but not always. The big plus of these babies was made clear to me when I tried them out with my Halcro power amp. That's right, $40-odd dollar speaker cables used with an eye-wateringly expensive power amp, yep. Once I'd tried them together no other speaker cables quite lived up to the RG213, the bass weight of the Halcro just didn't sound as good with anything else. This did seem odd to me, but you know, stranger things and all that, probably a synergy thing, so I filed that info away for possible later use and moved on. Move forwards to now and I've got a fancy new set that I was thinking of using as my standard cables for all my amp evaluating. I have more expensive cables but many of the amps I write up are $3K and below and no-one is going to use $1K cables with these so nice cheap-and-effective speaker cables seem like a good idea. But, it turns out that they have a pretty distinct sound. I discovered this a few days ago while having a preliminary listen to a borrowed Naim XS 2 (which I intended to be listening to today). At first I thought that the Naim had an extremely good top end and mid range but the bass was big, broad and prominent, slow and muddled and not very deep. The vocals were some of the best I had ever heard and the musicality was simply astounding but that bass was quite the let down. Changing speaker cables brought the bass speed and detail back up and removed the muddled effect but it took a little of the musicality with it. Still a good amp but one that now sounds different enough that I need another few hours to get used to it before I start making notes on it. So, that's why the Poll (not that we need a reason, that's just a bonus). Any others out there with RG213-U speaker cable experience?
  6. Hi, I'm looking at some speaker cables and wondering why some speaker cables use a dielectric which reduces the total gauge? Surely more wires would be better than seperating each one, I mean they start and end joined together anyway. Has anyone found they sound better or know the science behind it? Or is it just a raught? Regards, Byron
  7. Has anyone tried this cable? What are your thoughts? http://www.analysis-plus.com/prod_spkrcable.html http://www.analysis-...val9highres.jpg
  8. I'm not one to spend big on cables but occasionally I'll try things out if the price is right, ie a bargain. Cleaning out the spare room recently I came across these cables I bought several years ago from ebay US. They're XLO VDO speaker cables with some funky looking braiding going on. I also have some XLO Reference interconnects and they too have a spiraled construction wrapped around a flexible hollow tube. I use the interconnects in my system and I'll get around to trying out the speaker cables again but is there any reason why the braided design would be beneficial to sound quality in these designs? Is there a actually a difference in performance between "HT" cables and "hifi" ones? Or is all this along with the THX branding more likely a case of the marketing department having their say? It's a manic time of year so thanks in advance if you find time to reply. Cheers, Leg11 ps. I noticed one of the cables has a tiny scuff mark exposing the wire. My guess is probably from being dragged across amp cooling fins. Any suggestions on repair? A dab of hot glue?
  9. Hi All, I have been reading about Belden's new cables for several months in the PS Audio forums (USA). Several pre-production sets were being evaluated and much of the feedback was very, very positive however there wasn't; A) little information from Belden themselves regarding the cable design, measurements, background and, B) you couldn't purchase them. The above has been solved so I thought I'd pass on the information for inquisitive minds here. I'm not involved in any way with Belden or HansonAV in the USA who are selling the product. I merely post for your information. I cannot personally comment on the performance as I haven't purchased any either! If they are as good as ppl say perhaps they are worth considering. At least the company has published performance figures, design and the whys of what they consider important. Enjoy the read. 22. Hi, I've recently acquired a pair of monoblock amps (Vincent SP T700) which I will place fairly close to my Floorstanding speakers. This is quite different to my current setup of a stereo amp, where my wires are 3m long. Is there a minimum length wire restriction? Benefits of shorter vs longer? I've read before about interconnects and digital cables, but I didn't think it applied to these. And for the bonus question - bi-wiring vs. single wiring with bridge. The new monoblocks can do bi-wiring, and so can my speakers.
