Further information: Priced reduced from $2,800 to $2,600 For sale is my beloved Plinius 9200 in absolute mint condition. It was purchased new by me in 2011 and have been sparingly used especially in the last few years as a second system and has never failed to impress. Had every intention to continue keeping this - until a recent decision to upgrade to active speakers means it's time to consolidate my hifi system. Also comes with original double boxes, remote control, final test cert, & even the plinius white gloves. This is a stunning amp with plenty of power, finesse and dynamics and has a really nice phono stage. It has a power rating of over 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Per Plinius the 9200 operates in high bias class A/B however it has been designed to preserve as much of the class A sound as possible. It's well built like a tank and to last. Any questions please don't hesitate to reach out. Item: Plinius Price Range: negotiable Item Condition: Used Extra Info: I'm looking to purchase an excellent condition Plinius 9200, preferably with phono stage. I had previously advertised on the WTB for an SA103 or SA100 with pre-amps to suit, but I've changed my mind after budget considerations. Thank you.

Item: Plinius SA201 Stereo Power Amplifier Location: Canberra, ACT Price: $1200 Item Condition: Used Reason for selling: Have upgraded my power amplifier to mono blocks and need to save space, and keep the peace at home. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: For sale is my well cared for Plinius SA201 stereo power amplifier in the silver finish. I have been the first owner since circa 2006. I can't see any noticeable scratches or marks, so the curvaceous casework has stood up well over time. But alas I have felt the need to upgrade after many years good service, and when the opportunity arose I purchased a pair of mono blocks. This amp is rated at 225 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Both channels driven from 20Hz to 20kHz at less than 0.2% total harmonic distortion. Current Output: 40A short duration per module. Fuse protected. Hum and Noise: 90dB below rated output 20Hz to 20kHz unweighted. Gain: 32dB. Input Impedance: 47k ohms Dimensions: Height 170mm, Width 445mm, Depth 453mm, Weight 25kg Here's one review to give a general feel for the amp: https://www.dagogo.com/plinius-tautoro-preamplifier-sa-201-stereo-power-amplifier-review/ I've been using this amp with PS Audio products - the Directstream player, DAC and the BHK preamp. You could describe the sounds as smooth and coherent. Spatial performance is excellent with an expansive soundstage. There is plenty of detail, presented in natural fashion without being in your face. I have the original Plinius double-box packaging for transportation. The amp weighs 25kg so local pickup is preferred. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

I have recently replaced my 40 year old Plinius II & III combination amplifier and I've been looking online to see if these are salable or even desirable but I've had little success. It would appear that they are easy to maintain or modify due in part to the point to point & through hole construction. This amplifier is in full working order. Does anybody know of a likely sale price and possible market?

plinius Power supply for Plinius IIB (2B) preamp
Micky Jim posted a topic in Stereo Amplifiers & Pre-Amps
I'm after some advice on a suitable power supply for my recently acquired Plinius IIB preamp. What I know: - it used either the power from its matching (model III) power amp or a dedicated power supply (the IV) - requires 15 volts from memory, although I can't find on the net where I originally read this. -

Item: Plinius 9200 Integrated Amplifier Location: Brisbane Price: $2,500 Item Condition: 9.5/10 Reason for selling: Have enjoyed the experience, now time to move it on Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (+2.6%), EFT Extra Info: Stunning performer, plenty of drive and dynamics from this well regarded integrated NZ produced beast. I have used this in my main system for over three years and have always been satisfied with its performance. It's built like a tank and will drive most power hungry speakers with ease and finesse. Plinius' specs quote a stonking 200W per channel @ 8 ohms, Awesomely it has a built in high quality phono stage, currently set to MC. You will need to open the cover and change the jumper pins if you require it set to MM. I had compared the internal phono stage to a Primare R-32 dedicated and although close the Plinius seemed to be a little more natural, a touch brighter perhaps. The amplifier includes the original double boxed packaging (Original delivery label addressed to Peter Thompson personally - Interesting.:-)), I cannot locate the owner's manual, but it can be downloaded from Plinius website. The remote control is included and could double as a relay baton, a baseball bat or a door stop, it's the heftiest remote control you will ever own. It's a 2005 build. Please don't hesitate to get in contact if you require any further information. Cheers. Pictures:

Item: Plinius SA-250 Mk4 Power Amp with Solid Tech Rack of Silence amp stand. Location: Sydney (West) Price: $ 4500.00 Item Condition: Great condition except for scratches on back handles (see photo's) Reason for selling: Opportunity to step up to the Plinius Reference (of course) Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Only Extra Info: Prefer pickup as the amp is 57kg and bulky. I'm happy to assist transporting and setting up with the new owner living around Sydney. I do have the shipping crate but not the inner box, though could make up something with thick cardboard and foam if you wish to organise interstate transport. 250W into 8 Ohms / 450W into 4 Ohms. 900W into 8 Ohms (bridged / mono mode). Switchable to Class A operation providing 100W of pure Class A bias. Welcome to audition the amp at my place for interested buyers. I can't think of any other amp that would outperform or sound as good as the SA-250 is this price range. I've enjoyed this amp for many years without any issues. I would say the main character sound of the SA-250 amp is neutral, though in my system it provides a slight warm of neutral sound in Class AB and a lush organic sound in Class A. Manual - pdfstream.manualsonline.com/a/a3be5143-d9b7-6694-f986-b709db92f72b.pdf http://hifi-unlimited.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/old-kiwi-brute-plinius-sa-250-mk-iv.html https://www.stereophile.com/solidpoweramps/506plinius/index.html (references the SA-250) WHY CLASS A IS BETTER (From the Plinius manual) Class A has always been regarded as the perfect operating mode for audio amplifiers. Many leading amplifier designers and manufacturers world wide recognise that a well designed Class A circuit has inherently lower distortion than any other design. Class A circuit topology is one in which the total current the amplifier is capable of delivering, is kept flowing in the circuit regardless of demand. In a conventional or Class AB amplifier circuit this current flow varies when demand varies. Furthermore, as current varies, the voltage on the rails (as seen by the output stage) varies too. In a Class A circuit, current draw should be constant therefore there is an absence of the power supply modulation common in Class AB design amplifiers. Pinpoint images, tonal clarification, inter transient silence, more readily defined dynamic shadings, inner detail and authority are all inherent advantages of good Class A design. SPEC'S 250-WATTS RMS PER CHANNEL INTO 8 OHMS. 450-WATTS RMS PER CHANNEL INTO 4 OHMS. BOTH CHANNELS DRIVEN FROM 20Hz TO 20kHz AT 0.05% TOTAL HARMONIC DISTORTION. BRIDGED OUTPUT: 900 Watts RMS 20Hz to 20kHz into 8 ohms (Mono). DYNAMIC HEADROOM: 1dB or greater at 8 ohms with music. FREQUENCY REQUENCY RESPONSE: 20Hz to 20kHz ±0.2dB. 0dB at 0Hz and -3dB at 70kHz. DISTORTION: Typically <0.05% THD at rated power. 0.1% THD and IM worst case prior to clipping. SATURATION: 300 Watts per channel or greater into 8Ω. VOLTAGE SWING: 130Vpp per channel. CURRENT OUTPUT: 70A short duration peak per channel. Fuse protected. RISE TIME: Typically 5µs. PHASE RESPONSE: +0° at 20Hz and -14° at 20kHz. HUM & NOISE: 100dB below rated output 20Hz to 20kHz A-weighted. INPUT SENSITIVITY: 1.2V RMS for rated output at 1kHz. INPUT IMPEDANCE: 47kΩ. HEIGHT: 275mm (10 3/4") WIDTH: 510mm (20") DEPTH: 535mm (21") WEIGHT: 57kg (125lbs) Cheers Pictures: Recent photos. Item: Plinius M14 phono stage Location: Perth NOR Price: $1400 ono Item Condition: see below Reason for selling: major simply of system Payment Method: cash direct deposit Extra Info: i originally had this listed and sold back in October in a sna perthie. The day before they were due to pick it up I accidentally knocked and broke the phase toggle switch. after refunding their money I took it to a local repairer to get fixed. Plinius M14 phono stage $1500 (I am the second owner) black unmarked. No scratches or dents. Previously bought of MarkT. Unit was $6000 new and matched the old and new style Plinius Referece range. . Item: Plinius SA-103 Location: Inner West, Sydney Price: SOLD (elsewhere) Item Condition: Very Good Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup only Extra Info: This is a tough listing to put up but I'm in the process of simplifying my system and as a result this has to go. Specs: www.pliniusaudio.com/en/Plinius_Range/Power_Amplifiers/SA_103.html Some background on the unit: Manufactured in June 2015 (Plinius confirmed this for me using the serial number). Purchased second hand from Len Wallis Audio by me in August 2016. No original box (Len Wallis Audio did not have it). Due to the sheer size and weight (38kg) of this beast pick is the only option. The original box was not provided when I purchased it so I cannot ship it safely. My Elektra Preamp and Moon 110LP phono stage will be going up on sale soon too with separate posts to follow. Any interested parties please feel free to PM me. Pictures:

Hi all, I have tossed out my CD player and ripped all of my albums into FLAC format! As a result, I have been building a two-channel digital system from the ground up over the last 12 months and I'm now up to the power conditioning and isolation stage. The guiding philosophy has been based on the following principles: 1. The reproduction of music must be accurate and clear 2. Instruments must sound natural, neutral and 'uncoloured' 3. The components must represent value for money (to some degree) The selection of individual pre-loved components followed this acquisition sequence (I already had an Arcam CD36 player on loan): - Speakers: Sonus Faber Cremona Auditors (stand mount) - Amplification: Plinius Tautoro Pre and Plinius SA-201 Power Amp - Source: Replace Arcam CD36 Player with Ayre Acoustics DAC - Interconnects: Replace all generic interconnects with AudioQuest Sky - Speakers: Replace Sonus Fabers with Avalon Ascendants (floor standing) - Speaker cables: Replace generic cables with AudioQuest Redwood The results are great so far, but there is still tweaking to do and the room acoustics aren't great. I am currently in the process of purchasing an Ayre L-5xe power conditioner and some AudioQuest US power cables to experiment with. Really my goal here is to replace my supermarket power board with a solution that won't change or colour my system in any way. I am also looking to invest in a rack system next which will properly isolate each component including footers/feet/cones. Does anyone have any suggestions for a high quality rack system that I can keep for the long term? I am leaning towards Harmonic Resolution Systems (HRS) to tie in with the modern silver theme. I am also interested in anyone's experience with high-end footers/feet/cones. Cheers!

Just seeing how much/if any interest this gets as I'm not 100% yet. In an ideal world, I would prefer this all be sold as one however I know this hobby is an extremely subjective one. Gauging mainly local interest due to the size of some of these components however depending on how things pan out, I may consider interstate.
