  3. Further Information: For sale are a pair of wonderful Sonus Faber Liuto Towers in Rosewood. I have enjoyed their gorgeous sound for a number of years but now that my hi-fi is in a smaller room I've had to downsize to bookshelf speakers so I no longer have need of them. The Liuto's were a rather unique speaker for Sonus Faber in that they could rock out and handle any genre with ease, rather than erring towards the overly romantic sound of speakers that inhabited the rest of their catalog. I'll be sad to see them go but I know they'll make their new owners smile. Specs: - System: 3 way floorstanding vented box loudspeaker. - Cabinet: lute shape design ensures excellent stiffness avoiding resonances and standing waves. Sub-structural ribs are strategically placed for absolute rejection of spurious vibrations. - Tweeter: 25 mm high definition precoated fabric dome driver with wide soft polymer surround and rear chamber. Custom design. - Midrange: 150 mm cone driver. A free compression basket design and a thermo-mouldered polypropylene textile cone, also known as “curv”, ensure an excellent dynamic performance. - Custom design, synergistically optimized with its acoustic chamber. - Woofer: 220 mm lightweight aluminum/magnesium alloy cone driver. Ultra dynamic performance - And linearity. Special coaxial anti-compressor is used, designed to remove cavity resonances and distortions. - Cross-over: non-resonant second order design, optimized phase characteristics for optimal space/time - Performance, cross-over points 350 hz – 3.000 hz. - Frequency response: 40 hz – 25.000 hz, tuning ports included. - Sensitivity: 89 db spl (2.83 v/1m). - Nominal impedance: 8 ohm. - Power handling: 40w – 250w, without clipping. - Dimensions: 1031 x 236 x 413 mm (hxwxd). - Weight: 62 kg per pair – net weight / 73 kg per pair – shipping weight. Review: https://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/sonus-faber-liuto-loudspeaker-tas-199/ NB: Some slight lightening of the veneer on one side of the speakers as it had gotten the morning sun for a period of time. It's not too noticeable as you can see in pics but I thought it worth mentioning. Boxes included. NB2: While shipping is an option pick-up is preferred due to being floor-standing speakers. If you want them shipped then you'll have to organise and pay a courier from your end to pick them up.
  4. I had the Carbon Marsala edition in 2015, and I've had the urge to get this one ever since (same headphone but different colors), and now that they're discounted to less than half price, it was a no-brainer. One caveat - this was made for fashion, less for sound, although the sound does equalize very well. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/community/threads/pryma-by-sonus-faber-2019-stereo-headphone-review.4540/
  5. In a quandary folks. My main system is a pair of single driver Audiospheres powered by a PP EL84 amp. Main source is a Garrard 401 with alloy bodied DL 103r feeding a MF VLPS and VPSU. In moving house, we want music on the verandah, out the back, when cooking, as background when dining... I was contemplating ceiling speakers in zones, but even a basic multi zone setup will be mega dollars. Out of the blue, my wife suggested a mobile system on a trolley. So, I contemplate the following: PS Audio Sprout 100 (100w into 4 ohms) with a macbook pro as source (where all our iTunes is) and a good pair of bookshelf speakers in the 1-2k range. Early shortlist options are Dynaudio Emit 10 or 20, or Sonus Faber Venere 1.5. We listen to everything. 80s and 90s dance, jazz, female vocal, blues, rock, metal, pop etc Any thoughts?
  6. Hi everyone. I'm new to this site and I'm after a bit of advice on the best place to sell a pair of Sonus Faber Concerto Domus speakers. They are piano black. I would also like advice on what they would be worth. They are in pretty good condition however one of the front covers is a bit faded from sun. I know that you can sell them on here but apparently I would need to have posted quite a few times before i could advertise. Thanks in advance - Paul
  7. Synergy Audio presents Sonus Faber and McIntosh 8pm Wednesday 18th October, visitors welcome. Willis Room, City of Whitehorse Offices Maroondah Highway (Whitehorse Road), Nunawading Melway Map 48 Ref G9 Contact: 9437 1249 When it comes to luxury products, the Italians have a sense of style that is unmatched. When Sonus Faber introduces a new speaker range to the market, they are dripping with Italian styling and strikingly beautiful aesthetics that would appeal to the most discerning eyes. The Homage Tradition line of speakers features a level of quality craftsmanship that is the hallmark of the brand. This month Synergy Audio presents the Serafino Tradition. This new generation of speaker is both technically advanced and strikingly beautiful. The Serafino Tradition is a 3.5-way floorstander that houses Sonus Faber's own 28mm silk dome tweeter featuring an "Arrow Point" phase plug. The tweeter shares an aluminium mounting plate with the 150mm midrange driver. The front baffle and aluminium plate are adorned in that distinctive leather finish. The low end is handled by the two 180mm bass drivers. Extruded aluminium fins run the length of the rear panel as part of an exoskeleton, integrating an effectively invisible "Aperiodic Reflex" system, engineered to provide the required bass extension. Partnering the speakers will be a complete McIntosh system comprising of the MCT450 CD/SACD Transport and the MA8900 Integrated Amplifier. To get the most out of your CDs, the MCT450 combines an aluminium die cast tray with a twin laser pickup that assures an optimal disc reading at 2x read speed for better data recovery. Featuring four digital outputs, the unique DIN output connects to the MA8900 to deliver the purist possible sound. Wrapped in the timeless McIntosh aesthetics with blue watt meters and black glass front panel, the MA8900 with the renowned McIntosh Autoformer, guarantees to deliver the full 200 Watts regardless if your speakers are 2, 4 or 8 Ohms. Synergy Audio will also be demonstrating the new Mobile Fidelity Turntable with its matching cartridge, the Mo-Fi UltraDeck with the Ultra Tracker. Once again we are in for a treat, both visually and sonically. 8. Hey all, So, got the Sansui Au 2900 blasting nicely, trouble is we're now changing config of our living room and sadly my old Philips tower speakers have to go and need a MUCH smaller set up - ie bookshelf... so I'll be replacing them with either: Q Acoustics Q3020i Sonus Faber Chameleon B B&W 685 S2 or B&W 686 S2 KEF Q350 POLK Signature S20 Pro-Ject Speaker Box 5 OR.... Any suggestions from the audiophile community? I know I won't get anywhere near the same depth of low end that I currently get with the old floors (twin woofers), but I'd like something that will complement the Sansui and still give me a little bit of punch in a small package... help please?
  9. Hi all, I have tossed out my CD player and ripped all of my albums into FLAC format! As a result, I have been building a two-channel digital system from the ground up over the last 12 months and I'm now up to the power conditioning and isolation stage. The guiding philosophy has been based on the following principles: 1. The reproduction of music must be accurate and clear 2. Instruments must sound natural, neutral and 'uncoloured' 3. The components must represent value for money (to some degree) The selection of individual pre-loved components followed this acquisition sequence (I already had an Arcam CD36 player on loan): - Speakers: Sonus Faber Cremona Auditors (stand mount) - Amplification: Plinius Tautoro Pre and Plinius SA-201 Power Amp - Source: Replace Arcam CD36 Player with Ayre Acoustics DAC - Interconnects: Replace all generic interconnects with AudioQuest Sky - Speakers: Replace Sonus Fabers with Avalon Ascendants (floor standing) - Speaker cables: Replace generic cables with AudioQuest Redwood The results are great so far, but there is still tweaking to do and the room acoustics aren't great. I am currently in the process of purchasing an Ayre L-5xe power conditioner and some AudioQuest US power cables to experiment with. Really my goal here is to replace my supermarket power board with a solution that won't change or colour my system in any way. I am also looking to invest in a rack system next which will properly isolate each component including footers/feet/cones. Does anyone have any suggestions for a high quality rack system that I can keep for the long term? I am leaning towards Harmonic Resolution Systems (HRS) to tie in with the modern silver theme. I am also interested in anyone's experience with high-end footers/feet/cones. Cheers!
  10. Wow ....just wow ! I'm salivating http://audiolifestyle.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/sonus-faber-ex3ma.html?spref=fb&m=1
  11. hi all - having a bit of brain fade but would appreciate your thoughts. so my front speakers are Cremona Auditor M's.... with a sensitivity of 88db/spl. My centre speaker is the Cremona (non-M version, but was too cheap to pass up!) with a sensitivity of 90db/spl. I've now only realised that the centre speaker in Sonus faber's Cremona line up, is matched (sensitivity wise) to the Cremona's - not the auditors (apparently people who want home theatre buy floorstanders). The obvious issue here, is that the sensitivity of the centre speaker makes it difficult to level match the left and right speakers. Yes of course there is a volume trim on the reciever (+ or - 10db) - but unfortunately, -10db still isn't enough for me to get a 75db reading on the SPL meter from the centre speaker (clearly 2db/spl is a big difference in terms of sensitivity!). Is there some way of externally altering a speakers sensitivity? I had a look at "L Pads" - but they look like they have to be soldered inside the speaker itself, which is not a route I want to take. The only solution I've found thus far, is turning down the main volume pot on the reciever to -2.5db whilst the test tones are being output (usually at 0db on the reciever) - and then dialling the other speakers up to match the centre (there is enough scope in the volume trim to get them up to match). In this scenario, I'm guessing my "reference" volume on the reciever would thus be -2.5db, rather than 0db. Any better solutions than the one I'm using? Hope this is as clear as mud!

  15. Hi people, Wondered if anyone was selling their toys? Good match for the Cyrus amps I think (though I heard the toy-towers) and I don't have room for floor-standers. Have more or less given up on finding a pair of Quad 12l so, given that I love Sonus Faber Veneres on system one, the toys should do the job for system two. Thoughts and recommendations welcome. Have just sold my Epos for a pittance. Budget is around $500 give or take. R

  17. Hi guys! I've recently purchased some Sonus Faber Venere 3.0 speakers off a friend of mine who's moving interstate. I'm running them with a musical fidelity m6si amp and an old, entry level marantz cd player which I'm looking to upgrade. I have very little experience with CD players and frankly don't know where to start, looking for some suggestions so I can start listening to a few players. In terms of a budget, I want something that will do justice to the rest of my equipment, but was looking to spend less than 4 grand. I listen to all kinds of music, including classical, alternative, rock, blues etc, so all over the spectrum. Any suggestions would be nice, Thanks!

  19. Further information: They should need no introduction, being one of the most desirable and iconic speakers of all-time. Ultimate WAF factor! Stunning appearance in the heavy lute-shaped enclosures and leather fascias that made Sonus Faber famous, not to mention their sweet, musical performance with lush midrange and bass heft. Surprisingly easy to drive @ 90dB efficiency, they are suitable for valve or solid-state amps. This pair look absolutely beautiful in light orange maple. They work perfectly but have no original packaging or string grilles, which has been taken into account with their pricing. Donation to SNA on sale. With original RRP of $12,000 they are a sound bargain. Specifications: Three-way with 25mm ring-radiator tweeter, 40mm sliced paper-cone midrange and two153mm sliced paper-cone woofers; First-order crossovers optimised for acoustic phase response; Rear ported; Frequency range 32Hz-42KHz; Power handling 50-300W without clipping; Nominal impedance 4 ohms; Dimensions 1090mm H x 225mm W x 460mm D; Weight 34Kg each. 20. Further information: This unusual amplifier is designed to embody the Sonus Faber philosophy of placing sheer musicality above all other aspects such as rated power output and other specifications, or the number of features, that might impress some. Although state-of-the-art technology has been employed to achieve such a purist objective, what sets this amp apart from many others is its valve-like liquidity and transparency coupled with fine detail, bass control and transient attack. Its aim is to convey the emotion and ambience of a performance in a life-like and involving way, without any trace of artificial aggression or soundstage limitation. Consequently its operational features are limited to 6 pairs of RCA line inputs, one pair of buffered record (or other function) outputs and one set of gold-plated WBT speaker terminals at the rear. Front panel controls are limited to manual Power On/Off, Input selection and Volume via custom potentiometer. The amp is rated at 50W RMS @ 8 ohms and 100W RMS @ 4 ohms, indicating high current, with 28dB total gain. Surface-mount technology is used to maintain the shortest signal path in a left and right symmetrical PCB design. A dual jfet differential input stage with double boot-strapping error-corrected mosfet output stage and low impedance produces dynamic drive capability to DC. Other technical features include toroidal power transformer, large custom power supply capacitors with low multiplication factor, independent supplies for the input gain stage and output stage, high speed Schottky rectifier and discrete voltage regulators for the input stage, etc. It’s the hidden details that make the difference in this design, not the marketing! Dimensions are 425 W x 335 D x 155 H (mm), weight 13.5Kg. The front panel is distinctive in solid walnut with controls and cone feet in gold-plated copper. While its appearance as well as performance is an ideal complement to Sonus Faber speakers, it can certainly stand on its own when it comes to sound and build quality. This model has become a collector’s item, fetching much more than the asking price overseas, one is currently for sale on Ebay for over $6,000. Unit # 225 is as good an example as you’ll ever find! 21. I purchased these speakers from a fellow SNA member and they are in beautiful condition - he had them from new - believe purchased in 2013 (i hope he doesn’t mind me using his photos of them as my forward facing camera not working on my phone!!) They are gorgeous but I am making room for something new not sure there is much to say that most members don’t already know about Sonus Faber, they are pretty, sound amazing and always draw positive comments from those who see and hear them Photos: PLEASE READ If you include any reference to pricing whatsoever in this section (excluding RRP), your ad will not be approved If you are advertising multiple items, you must post one bulk price only, or post seperate ads for each item If you don't include photographs of the actual item being sold, your ad will not be approved You understand that a reasonable donation for selling fees is expected upon successful sale of your item
