  1. Hi all, I'm about to acquire a shiny new Rotel RA-1592 integrated amp to get a bit more oomph out of my KEF Q700s, and was wondering if there's any advantage to getting a nice matching CD player like the soon-to-be-released Rotel RCD-1572. I have a few hundred CDs, but no dedicated player (just an ageing Samsung BD player I've been using as a transport). Considering the mid-fi nature of my stuff, would I see any benefit in going with the Rotel unit (other than the aesthetic matchy-matchy one)? I have no particular interest in SACD so needn't make that leap in pricepoint, and while I'm open to the idea of an OPPO UDP-205, I don't NEED 4k BD that badly either. Thoughts?
  2. Item: CD Player Price Range: ~ $1,200 (new) or ~ $700 used. Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: Looking for a dedicated CDP to join the Roksan K2 amp recently purchased from the Classifieds. Preferences and constraints: Maximum dimensions of 440 mm wide x 380 deep. Height no problem. Digital output not required. Digital input a bonus but not required. Something not hyper sensitive to less than perfect CDs preferred. Aesthetics are a consideration and ideally something Roksan would be great but will consider anything. Could potentially stretch budget on the right player. Have considered the typical Yamaha, Marantz, NAD suspects - still interested in other options. Will organise own courier If necessary, or actually happy to make a big drive for pick up (my learner driver son needs the hours) - Coming from the Sth Gold Coast.
  3. Item: Arcam CD Player to match my setup Price Range: Negotiable Item Condition: Used Extra Info: I have gone down the Arcam way, getting the FMJ A19 (Amp) & FMJ T32 (Tuner). Now I need to replace my silver Rotel CDP with an Arcam CDP as the set doesn't look right. Please reach out if you have one available in great working condition. I'm in Sydney, but I'm happy to pay for shipping if I come across a good interstate deal. Thanks, Rodrigo

Here are reviews: http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue27/ear_890.htm http://www.stereophile.com/tubepoweramps/404ear/index.html https://positive-feedback.com/Issue27/acute.htm Item: Audio Physic 5 speakers Location: Sydney Price: $5,000 Item Condition: Excellent 9/10 Reason for selling: Not required as not using system and it is stored in dedicated theatre room. 5. Item: DENON SACD Player DCD-1500AE Location: WA Price: $499 ONO Item Condition: EXCELLENT Reason for selling: Need money Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Legendary CD Player, built like a tank, highly reviewed. No original box but can pack safely. Currently for sale used on eBay for US$999 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DENON-DCD-1500AE-SACD-Player-w-Manual-AC-Cable-and-Remote-Controller-/252946824845?hash=item3ae4ce3e8d:g:IZ4AAOSw3gJZHtm7 Use this by itself or even better use it as a transport & connect it to a DAC Pictures:
  6. Item: Arcam Alpha 9 cdp Location: Richmond, Victoria Price: Free (but a swap for a couple of cds or vinyl appreciated) Item Condition: Dead, or maybe its just resting. Beautiful plumage. Reason for selling: don't want to spend money on it Payment Method: Pickup only When you put the disc in it initially lists the tracks then reverts to zero and won't read the disc. It also seemed to run pretty hot in recent times. Took it to the service guy who put me off repairing it — good money after bad etc. I hate chucking stuff out, especially something that has given me so much pleasure for the last 10 years. Maybe someone with DIY skills might be able to fix it up cheaply and end up with an excellent cdp, or maybe put the very good ring dac in it to good use. Unfortunately that ain't me.
  7. Item: Creek Destiny CD Player (made in UK model) Location: Hobart, TAS Price: $950ono $750ono Item Condition: Factory refurbished with some marks (shown) but working perfectly Reason for selling: Change of lifestyle, simplifying things (downgrading) Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: I bought this from Epoz Australia as a factory refurbished product. It cost me $1250. It came with full warranty and has never let me down, except for the marks on it that were not mentioned when I purchased it. There are a few scuffs/scratches on the CD player but the device works perfectly. The worst (IMO) is just above the CD tray, as shown. Comes with Creek remote. It sounds incredible. Do your own research or come and listen to it. I have it paired with an Evo 5350. Pictures: Let me know if you have any questions. Locals can come and have a listen. I can post it. Thanks, Jeremy. doakwolf@gmail.com
  8. Further information: I have finally decided to part ways with my Sony XA5ES CD player. I am the original owner. It has worked flawlessly for me over the years and still continues to do so. It and its older brother XA7ES, to this day, are very highly regarded and sought after. It oozes quality and is built like a tank. It weighs a hefty 13.5kg!! The CD tray mechanism with its puck works a treat. Use it as a standalone CDP or as a transport connected to your favourite DAC – you won’t be disappointed. Hard to beat this quality and build for the price! I am fastidious with my audio equipment (read anal) and so this CDP presents in excellent condition – no marks or scratches to note (see photos). Unfortunately I don’t have the box so preference (initially) will be given to a local pickup. Cheers

  10. Further information: One owner Audiolab 8200 CD player More like a digital pre-amp! Purchased by me in 2012 it was a mainstay of my system before being supplanted by a higher end CD player and one of Clay Gieseler’s premier DACs. I recall paying something in the order of $1400-1500 for it, but not sure of the RRP at the time. I think my offer price is a pretty good one, especially since while my newer units shaded it - I can’t say they embarrassed it in any way. Lots of 5 start reviews on the net; e.g. what, tech radar and dititalcinema. I set it up with variable volume that can be controlled by the remote. With the USB, 2 x Coax and Optical inputs it really does operate as digital pre-amp sans streaming. I listen to DAB+ radio a lot and when using this found optical out of by DAB+radio into the Audiolab a good move. Perfect for a starter or mid-system, second system, man-cave, shed, garage system. I have the original box and packaging so can post or courier, though that would likely be on the Saturday after payment for work reasons. I like the security of Paypal as a commercial transaction for the added security of buyers and seller, so the price includes the Paypal charges. BTW - it comes with a remote - photographed in its styrofoam pack. I have the original box and can post. I expect that would be in the order of $35-45 to most metro areas. And of course will donate a few quid to SNA if sold. Some extracts blurbs and specs follow: The first is from whathifi. (I picked this not just for the positive review but as a nod to one of those odd things that hifi mags do in comparing things to much more expensive units …..why? Anyway that aside….) "It’s no secret that we love the 8200CD. Since we first encountered the player in 2010, it’s won multiple awards and, until last year, was Product of the Year three times in a row. There’s no doubt that it’s one of the best CD players we’ve tested under £1000 thanks to its effortless sonic character and musicality. For • Clean, neutrally toned sound • Exciting performer • Abundance of useful features • Fine build • Competitive price Against • Not as dynamically precise or driven as pricier competitors." And from Techradar: “What really caught our imagination, though, was the sheer togetherness of the sound. More than anything, that seems to be the hallmark of this player. What do we mean by that. Prosaically put, it's that there's excellent integration between different aspects of performance. That always happens in live music, but not by any means invariably in reproduced sound. Bass may be good most of the time, but becomes uncertain when the midrange gets busy, or detail may suffer at times when the treble's particularly bright. In this case, by contrast, the firm bass just seems to get even firmer in the presence of activity higher up the band, while detail is consistently precise. As a result, music comes across with an unusually high degree of physicality….” Some Specifications: Dimensions (HxWxD) in mm 75x445x330 Frequency Response 1 20Hz - 20kHz THD 0.0025% Dynamic Range 98dB Output level 0.25Vrms Photos: PLEASE READ If you include any reference to pricing whatsoever in this section (excluding RRP), your ad will not be approved If you are advertising multiple items, you must post one bulk price only, or post seperate ads for each item If you don't include photographs of the actual item being sold, your ad will not be approved You understand that a reasonable donation for selling fees is expected upon successful sale of your item - if you have previously sold items and not made a donation, your advertisement may not be approved.
  11. Further information: This Denon DCD 755AR CDP is in excellent condition. Comes with remote (unused), manual and power cord. Specs here: https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/denon/dcd-755.shtml I've enjoyed owning this CDP, but I no longer have any use for it. It's working perfectly. Minimal signs of use. Delivery might be possible if you are in inner Sydney suburbs or close to M4, please ask. Photos:
