  2. If your amp is using a phase splitter at the output then a better cable won't achieve much. If your amp is a push-pull amp with a balanced input (or better -built-in DAC elf e.g.) that's a better system to work with
  3. Progress shot, first time cutting glass I'm thinking of powering it via a pair of inductive coils

  11. @waxon_waxoff Stereo Image is only affected by room symmetry and the orientation of the speakers's mid and high drivers. If you're standing equidistant from the speakers, with each arm pointing at the speakers and forming an equilateral triangle or better, and isoceles, then you'll have stereo image. Think of it this way: listening to music on headphones and pull one side away, your stereo image is lost. Triangular setups narrows down your listening field to a point, and in a smaller room it'll get very noticeable by every incremental movement, so a "bigger, rectangular" room gives more leeway overall. Tweeter placement preferably should not be equidistant from the the ceiling and the floor. Smaller speakers get their speaker boundary interference response in the mid-range unfortunately. best speaker placement is either flush mounted (infinite baffle) or 2m from the front wall! I chose neither! Your listening position should be closer to the speakers, and far away from the rear wall as possible, very tight in your case Whenever a speaker is facing you (your ear) the sound from the speaker will reach your ear before the reflected sound. Sounds of all frequencies travel at the same speed, through the same medium. If you're sitting 2m from your speaker (one) placed at 1.4m high, and your ear is at 1.5m from the floor, the sound reflected from the floor will reach your ear 4.42ms after the sound coming from your speaker lower freq sounds are unidirectional. I'd try borrow different pairs of speakers first room treatment is often a tertiary thing, most people can't even be bothered to learn about it, can be expensive (but permanent if you think about it!) and low cost treatment options will shrink a room too!- I don't have any room treatment as you've seen so I've been learning about it a lot (physics of acoustics is awesome!) 12. @twofires if I have a solution where you can use everything you have without actually having to buy new amps how much would you pay for that?
  13. I hope we're not ALL like that. Truth is, it's probably a good thing (not right now) that that transaction didn't eventuate! Who knows? He might be in hospital, been broken into and having his **** stolen etc etc... I tend not to think bad of people, and just let them go, not waste time etc.. I look forward to something better ahead you might be all embarrassed about sharing your (would be) future acquisition with friends and family, but remember this when you find something better, just around the corner: "what was I so upset about after all? felt like you missed out on something? pft! Look at what I got now!! JB
  14. Put $10k on a bench and put $10k on a bench with room treatment... still $10k at the end of the day, the $10k did't get fatter or thinner, just sounds "better spent $10k" to some, still $10k to others... no $10k wasted ALSO what about the ceiling and the floor while you're at it?
  15. you were holding your phone with your left hand, and weren't wearing any clothes, straight out of the bathroom?
  16. Taste of music varies, posts on here are about helping ex brickie with where to find jazz - I guess all posters read this post correctly
  17. If you like youtube, I'd suggest typing in "jazz band playlist" and look through something that goes on for an hour. Some of the playlist are quite detailed and in the description they document the name of the songs. Let a playlist play in the background and you'll be attracted to some pieces (hopefully) Have a search for ethio jazz too, songs are so cool!
