  1. Blurb: Introducing the Emotiva BasX A-500, a robust five-channel amplifier designed for the discerning audiophile. Originally part of an elaborate home theater setup, this amplifier has provided faithful service in a meticulous environment. My father recently transitioned to a simpler, Sonos-based system, and gifted me this. I sold my KEF floorstanders a while back, making this powerhouse available for purchase. It's ideal for those looking to drive their high-fidelity speakers with a clean, continuous power source that truly honours the dynamics of recorded sound. This was purchased Oct 2020. Reason: The A-500 comes from a carefully curated audio system assembled by my father, who has since opted for a more streamlined setup to suit a less complex lifestyle. This change was made to accommodate easier use and maintenance. This amplifier is perfect for anyone looking to elevate their home audio experience with professional-grade equipment. Items: 1x Emotiva BasX A-500 Amplifier Condition: Rated 9/10. The amplifier is in near-pristine condition, showing very limited signs of use. It has been extremely well-maintained, reflecting a commitment to preserving the integrity of the audio quality. Detailed photos available upon request, illustrating the excellent physical and operational state of the unit. This listing will remain active for a limited time before moving to alternative sales platforms. Interested buyers are encouraged to reach out promptly to secure this exceptional piece of audio equipment.
  2. Further Information: The price is for a pair of potent Emotiva monoblocs - 300W in 8 Ohms / 600W in 4 Ohms, each! The sound is extremely clean and dynamic. The monoblocs have more than enough power to drive any speaker with ease. The background is pitch dark, too. These are the ideal entry point in the expensive world of monobloc amplifiers. I have purchased these amps in February 2023 from Emotiva in US, thinking about keeping them for several years. Selling all my separates since got a NAD M33 all-in-one that keeps my missus happy. https://emotiva.com/collections/amps/products/hc-1
  3. I need a favor from my fellow XMC-1 owners in Melbourne. Is there anyone near Mount Waverley/Glen Waverley (or in Melbourne) who has the XMC-1? I would like to borrow the XLR to USB cable that is used for DIRAC just for one night. I just bought a unit from a friend and I got everything in the package except that cable. I got my DIRAC activated with a my own license but I can't connect the mic to my laptop. I've ordered one from Emotiva but would like to tune my system in the meantime. Could anyone loan it to me for an evening or a weekend? PM me if you are able to help and I can organize a time to come borrow it. I can even give you some money as a retainer until I return it you'd like. Thanks in advance. Cheers guys.
  4. Good morning everyone. First time thread for me and thank you all in advance for reading and commenting/advising. I have done a little searching for similar threads in relation to DAC vs Pre-amp etc and found some knowledgeable advice however I though I would decide to specify exactly what I have so any posters out there had similar spec'd equipment & can share their experiences. I have recently purchased an Emotiva XPA2 Gen 1 for a bargain price and also have a Cambridge DAC Magic Plus, Pioneer N30 Network player and a set of Polk RTiA9 speakers. So basically, I wand to connect the N30 Coax out to the Cambridge Coax in and the analogue XLR outs to the XLR in into the Emotiva and bi-wired connected to the Polks. I believe that the Emotiva earlier Gen amps had an higher input sensitivity and may work well with only the DAC Magic Plus as the pre-amp considering it has a volume control. I normally crank the music up very loud hence not too worried about the digital volume control (not sure if it is but I assume) being low level. What are your thoughts? Do you think the DAC is enough or should I get a Preamp? Cheers
  5. Hi all just wondering what peoples thoughts on connections for my setup with my power amp and speakers from the yammy Gear as follows yamaha rxv2077 emotiva xpa5 gen2 paradigm signature s8 v3 paradigm c5 v3 paradigm adp3 v3 paradigm s2 v3 at the moment i have the s8,c5 and s2 on the xpa5 using the unbalanced rca connections from the yammy and the adp3's from the yammy All speakers just have a single speaker cable connected But i have been wondering if i should use the xpa5 for the s8's and c5 and run the s2's and adp3's from the yammy and how would i do this? Im very vaig on bi amping and bi wiring and unsure? Some images or clearly explained instructions would be of any help and appreciated Just any reccomendations really?? Thanks
  6. I've serviced a few pieces of Emotiva gear over the last couple of years, an XDA-2, 4 x XPA-1L's, 3 x UMC-200's, a pair of Airmotive 6's and an XPA-2. Their tech support is first class and replacement parts are despatched promptly. If you get stuck let me know, I'm based in Sydney but I have access to reliable freight at reasonable rates. It's not my primary source of income so my rates are very reasonable. Cheers Gary
  7. Hi everyone. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Emotiva range? I'm looking at 2x XPA 100, XPA-2 or possibly the XPA-5 (depending on the stereo quality compared with the stereo and mono's). Also I'm looking at the XDA-2, USP-1 or UMC-200 (if i went with the XPA-5) to drive them. The biggest deciding factor for me is sound quality for stereo. Surround sound in the same unit would be handy for the future but stereo is my focus for now. For now it will be powering a pair of KEF LS50's and a pair or AXIS HTLS (floorstanders) but in the near future will be upgrading to something that can take advantage of the extra power. Also if there are any other suggestions around the same price range that would be great too. Thanks
  8. Has anybody dealt with a defective Emotiva product under warranty? Looks like mine has bitten the dust after a few years. Will be emailing them but bloody hell it could be a potential pain in the a$$.
  9. I cannot get home theatre bypass working. My first attempt at this so I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I would really appreciate help with this. My original setup is HTPC (HDMI) --> Anthem MRX 500 --> 5 Speakers (no sub-woofer) Now I have acquired Emotiva USP-1 and XPA-2. I have tried 3 different ways 1. Home Theatre Bypass via USP-1 Connection: HTPC (HDMI) --> Anthem MRX 500 (Front L and R Pre-out) --> (HT Bypass) USP-1 --> XPA-2 --> Front L & R Speakers Anthem MRX 500 (Centre, Surround L and R) --> Centre, Surround L and R Speakers (No change) Result: No Sound 2. Anthem to USP-1 (AUX-1) HTPC (HDMI) --> Anthem MRX 500 (Front L and R Pre-out) --> (AUX-1) USP-1 --> XPA-2 --> Front L & R Speakers Anthem MRX 500 (Centre, Surround L and R) --> Centre, Surround L and R Speakers (No change) Result: Stereo Sound only. This confirmed that USP-1 and XPA-2 are working and connected correctly. This also confirms that Anthem Front L & R Pre-out are outputting sound to USP-1. 3. Anthem to XPA-2 HTPC (HDMI) --> Anthem MRX 500 (Front L and R Pre-out) --> XPA-2 --> Front L & R Speakers Anthem MRX 500 (Centre, Surround L and R) --> Centre, Surround L and R Speakers (No change) Result: Stereo Sound only. It seems in scenario 2 and 3 Anthem is just not powering the centre and surround speakers. I have tried different softwares VLC, Power DVD, foobar, Windows Media Player. Thanks.
  10. Hi there guys. I need some help with choosing the right components for my home theater system. 5.4 My system at this stage is: Receiver Onkyo tx-sr876, Samsung Bluray player, Power amp is Emotiva xpa-5 5 channel, speakers are Paradigm Studio v4 60's, 40's and CC690 center, 4 x 10'' jensen subs, 110'' screen and Sony VPL HW50ES projector. My problem is: I would like to eliminate my Onkyo receiver and the crappy samsung blue ray player. (weakest links in my system) Ive been looking into getting the Emotiva umc-200 7.1 pre/pro and the new oppo bdp103 or bdp105 player. Im after the best possible sound and picture quality i can possibly get out of my system (without spending heaps of $$). Also do i actually need the Emotiva pre/pro, apparently the oppo bdp105 can remove the need for a pre/pro, would this be correct in my setup? Or would having the Emotiva pre/pro be more beneficial to my sound quality? I need the help from experienced audioheads here as im not up to speed with connectivity between certain components (im still learning the ins and outs of modern components, and loving it) : ) Any advice will be appreciated, thanks Heath.
  11. Hi all. I'm looking for a stereo power amp to replace a Rotel RB-991. The Rotel is going because, long story short, it's mains-grounded (3 prong power cable), and so is my HTPC. Adding a second mains-grounded component to my system, it turns out, introduces a loud ground loop hum that no amount of cable-swapping and re-configuring can tame. If I leave the PC off and listen to vinyl only, everything is fine - buuuuut that's not going to do, and so the Rotel has to go. So, I'm looking for recommendations for a chassis grounded (2 prong cable) power amp, ideally with 150wpc+ at 8ohms, preferably rated down to 4ohms. Some relevant info: System TV: Samsung 4k HDCP 2.2 thing that loathes handshaking with my AVR AVR: Marantz SR6010 HTPC: custom built Windows 10 machine (mains-grounded) Turntable: Technics SL1210mkII Phono Preamp: Emotiva XPS-1 Speakers: KEF Q700s, Q600c, Q400, and Q300s at the rear Budget Up to $3500 for a good solution. This may mean higher RRP, depending on which stores I can source the unit from (some being more flexible than others with price). What am I looking for? 150wpc+ into 8ohms stereo power amp (or comparable solution), capable of handling 4ohm loads, with a high enough damping factor that the bass is tight and snappy (like the Rotel). Unlike the Rotel, I need something without overly harsh or sibilant treble, and it absolutely cannot be something that is mains grounded. In my price range, that last proviso alone rules out: Rotel, Cambridge, Parasound, and Exposure. I'm sure they're all good amps, but they're not going to work for me. What I'm considering Emotiva XPA-2 Pro: heaps of power, good price, similar input sensitivity to Marantz power amps, suggesting it will work well with my SR6010, high damping factor Con: no longer distributed in Australia so there's hundreds or dollars in shipping if it breaks, and there are many stories of them breaking, also, the blue LED aesthetic is a bit too early-2000s Nokia 8250 for me Emotiva BASX A-300 Pro: cheap, could easily get 2 and bi-amp the Q700s and get better channel separation, high damping factor Con: audio quality(?), no longer distributed in Australia so there's hundreds or dollars in shipping if it breaks, and there are many stories of them breaking, blue LED aesthetic Marantz MM7025 Pro: cheap, could easily get 2 and bi-amp the Q700s and get better channel separation, guaranteed to play well with the SR6010, I know I like the Marantz sound, my preferred stockist is flexible with pricing Con: barely more power than the SR6010 (if only one used, not sure about bi-amping), not rated to anything below 6ohms, el-core transformer (does this even matter?) Marantz MM7055 Pro: more channels, guaranteed to play well with the SR6010, I know I like the Marantz sound, my preferred stockist is flexible with pricing Con: essentially a 5 channel version of the MM7025, with all the same flaws, bi-amp likely not as good as with 2 MM7025s because it's a shared power supply and is essentially bi-wiring Marantz MM8077 Pro: heaps of channels, guaranteed to play well with the SR6010, I know I like the Marantz sound, toroidal transformer, my preferred stockist is flexible with pricing Cons: a lot of money for seemingly very little gain over the SR6010 Anthem MCA225 Pro: a tonne of power, especially into low ohms (rated down to 2ohms!), my preferred stockist is flexible with pricing Con: a lot of money for the spec, 225wpc is at <1%THD, rather than a more listenable 0.08% (will this matter if the overhead is just for transients?), much lower input sensitivity than other brands (10kohms vs 22+) which may(?) mean a bad match with the SR6010 NAD C 275 BEE Pro: good price, two sets of terminals for bi-wiring Con: not much more power than the SR6010, reliability issues, harder and harder to find, low input sensitivity like the Anthem Any thoughts or additional suggestions appreciated, especially from those with first-hand experience of any of the above equipment. Cheers, Simon P.S. I'm not going to bother with ground loop isolators to bodge the Rotel into working, as it has other issues (massive draw on power up that occasionally trips the protection on my surge board, brightness, lack of remote trigger) that means it's ultimately better if I replace it.

  25. Item: Pair of Emotiva XPA-1 Gen1 monoblock amplifiers - BEASTS Location: Williamstown Victoria Price: $2100 for the pair (New model is $2399 ea!!!) Item Condition: 9 out of 10 Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I seriously stopped and asked myself whether I wanted to sell these beasts... because really, can you ever have enough power!!! 500 watts into 8 Ohms 1000 watts into 4 Ohms - Yes the magic doubling of watts as the Ohms halve!!! Massive 1.2 KVA toroidal power transformer Completely stable into 4 Ohm loads 34kg of hulking, bruising power Fully balanced differential amplifier XLR and RCA inputs Each amp has dual speaker binding posts so you can bi wire with seperate cables if you choose Powerful enough to drive pretty much any speaker you're able to fit in your home, this amp showed that Emotiva could play with the big boys. With a fully balanced differential design, the XPA-1 has an advanced microprocessor operating system that protects it from all fault conditions. Quality build and attention to detail you'd find in amplifiers cost much more. Its truly a high quality amplifier, that isnt just about braun, and put Emotiva on the map as a creator of quality and great sounding hi-fi components. I've had these amps running off many pre-amps, into many different speakers, and they never fail to catch my breath with their power, control, finesse, subtlety and rhythm. I've been listening to them all day to test them... originally was only going to put them on for 15 minutes, but got drawn into listening to them through my Monitor Audio PL300ii speakers, they're just that good. These amps scale up really well with quality speakers, so rather than their shortcomings becoming apparent, they end up staying in your system while many other components are upgraded. The Emotiva is the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove. You can never get enough of having all that power in reserve - its not about playing loud, its about dynamics and effortlessness that you cant achieve any other way. If you have power hungry speakers, or you just want to be certain you have plenty of headroom when you play orchestral pieces with pipe organ, this power amplifier will do the job. Current price of $2399 per monoblock can be found at: https://vaf.com.au/products/emotiva-xpa-1-reference-mono-block These amps are in great condition - I've said 9 out of 10 only because they're not new. These amps have also just been in for a service and clean. • All binding posts have been replaced as a couple of the plastic collars had cracked due to over tightening - I think they came in a set so the tech just replaced them all • An RCA socket was also replaced as it had come loose due to a stupidly tight Chord cable I used to have The amps have never played up and have worked consistently without a hitch, so it was only these items that needed attention. The lucky buyer will have serviced and fully tested amps Yes I have the boxes and the instruction manual. These amps are really heavy, and I mean REALLY HEAVY. So if you want them couriered to you it will cost you as they are just over 40kg ea packed. I'll be really sad to see them go, but time to clear out my gear, make space for upgrades - and get some money to pay for them! Donation made to SNA on successful sale of amps.
