  1. How do you know they got the speed wrong? (it's a question - not doubting you here, just curious how you know. )
  2. If you can, find a UK Deluxe twin CD pack. The second CD has a couple of different versions of mixes and a few new tracks. I enjoy it even more than the normal release CD. Forget compression on this album - it is absolutely stellar SQ on this CD! If you enjoy the vocals of Hannah Reid and the two lads - you will love it.
  3. I've lost track of a lot of things in the last 18 months and was not even aware LG had released this album. I listened to the same official vid last night on youtube, and all I could hear was the noise in the right channel - and it was in every track! I was really surprised/disappointed when the LG sound is so good. I guess that is the same as what Doppelganger was mentioning with his vinyl.
  4. My ears are far from great these days, but I can hear 'slow' and it annoys me. If a TT is running slightly fast, I don't seem to notice it and if I do - it doesn't seem to intrude on the listening experience.
  5. I have their first album on two different CDs - certainly not too much compression on my copies.
  6. No. I bought the sandstone previous to the Minus K as I had horrid feedback issues with this TT. A fried lent me 4 small mudstone tiles and they fixed 90% of the issue, so I went one better. It was cheap (under $200 from memory from Gosford Quarries in Clayton, Vic.) and is the same sandstone as they run under all their test gear at Monash Uni, so I figured it was good enough for me. ...Then the Minus K turned up. What a revelation! Instant noise floor drop - even a half going deaf old fart like me can hear it. But the best was how the soundstage was no longer 'homongenise. All the players and instruments were more on their own and a beautiful smoothness to everything. Only problem is my Minus K is rated for around 38kgs and my TT is 36kgs, so it's really on it's limit. I might have to look at a bigger model down the track. As I said before - now to fix everything around it!
  7. I use 3" of a sandstone slab, (80kgs) a Minus K on top of that and then my 36kg TT. Way lower noise floor and the sound is no longer homogenise. Heaps better. ...Now to fix everything else.
  8. Sorry Tri - I prefer the HPDs! I'd love more Tannoys - but am drowning with too much stuff already. Thanks for the heads up lads. Someone will pick themselves up some very musical speakers here.
  9. This is the only way your REL sub will ever integrate with your speakers. Never use pre outs! He is a generous man that Bill!
  10. That's incredibly sad news re Patrick. He at times was completely crazy and immovable on his opinions. But - he is just about the smartest electronics technician/ engineer I have ever experienced.
  11. A very clean looking pair with the earlier (and IMO better) open trannies. Only thing missing are a pair of ECC33s...
  12. The "remastered" label worries me. Anything remastered I find is usually less that the original. I hope I am wrong here as I'd love that box set too. If you could post SQ results when they arrive, that would be greatly appreciated.
  13. For me it's Karen Carpenter. "Voice Of The Heart," released just after she died is a standout. Male vocal is Jimmy Little. "Messenger" is a stellar masterpiece! Kudos to Brendan Gallagher for his work getting that project to happen. I had the pleasure to interview Jimmy many years back - an absolute gentleman that lived music to the core of his soul. He didn't care who you were, where you come from, your history. Such a beautiful man.
  14. Definitely not a passive. From memory, it is located in the underside at the rear.
  15. Many years ago I had one of these in my system for a week (it belonged to a mate). Simply - an awesome pre! (and I'm not known for making positive comments too often) Musical SQ is stellar! Built like a tank - If you are looking for a keeper, you can't go wrong with this.
  16. You lads didn't read his advert. He ONLY plays vinyl these days!
  17. Interesting. I don't like the clearances he employs on his components. I feel they should be tighter than that - especially with cnc machines. Great video into his way of thinking though. I know a splash of German here and there, that made it easier to watch.
  18. I had an Ypsilon 100 Silver at my place a couple of years back and didn't think that highly of it actually. I'm still looking too...
  19. I have a mate that has a Theriaa. Even though it doesn't have tubes - I can't fault it. It's mighty fine at putting out the tunes.
